I am 44 and was diagnosed with shingles in the right eye. Thank you for this informative video. I was lucky that a friend of mine was familiar with the symptoms and recognized the marks above my eye as shingles. I went to the ER and was given antiviral medicine to fight the virus. I am feeling better, but boy this is very painful.

I'm 35 years old and thought I was developing a sinus infection. When I went to sleep that night, I woke up with the most excruciating pain in my right eye. I'm not kidding when I say that when I would close my eyes to try and fall back asleep, I would see nerve clusters. The next morning, I was in so much pain that I broke down and started crying. This scared the shit out of my wife and we decided to go to the emergency room. Turns out I had shingles that were later determined to have gotten into my eye. I've never in my life imagined a pain like this could exist. Not even the Percocet's that the hospital prescribed me could give me any relief. Gradually, after taking Valacyclovir and being dormant in bed for over a week, I finally started to feel some relief. Thank God I live in a day in age where there are anti-virials.

Is it by any chance worse at night? The reason I ask is my night pain is different and very much like angina. an hour or so after I get up in the morning the severe pain mostly goes away! Thanx if you can answer!

Going through this right now. It’s all around my left eye and nose, going down my cheek. So painful!! I had my vision checked today and thankfully it hasn’t reached the inside of my eye. Everyday it’s been getting worse, and I hope it starts to get better now. Nightmare !
It doesn't start to get better till the rash heals alot. My rash is on my whole left arm and a little on my neck and back and I used antibiotic cream with pain reliever and lidocaine serum from Walgreens and it didn't get to blisters cause it did something to help it. It stopped the itching and pain but nothing helps the pain at home. No drs would give pain meds except gabapentin and it doesn't help. Nothing helps. Worse at night and i haven't slept much in 3 wks at all. I had to work out my arm cause it was getting weaker and weaker and i couldn't hold anything. No joke this shingles
How long did yours take for the pain to subside? I'm going through hell right now with a case.

Thank you for this video. I am currently on day 4 with shingles on my face. I have seen a primary Dr and my eye Dr. I will be seeing a dermatologist this week.

Use antibiotic cream too. It helps with the pain of the rash and itching and it helped my rash so much. I put it on everyday 2 times a day along with lidocaine cream I bought from Walgreens. I used antibacterial wipes to clean it and it didn't bubble up at all. It looked more like a heat rash then this in the video. I can't tell you enough how much that helped it. The pain is another story. Hurts so bad....no sleep hardly at all. I suffered so bad.😥 I'm still suffering. But please listen to me about the cream and the antibacterial wipes. Wash your hands in between doing this and it will help it.

I had shingles on my left fore head and under my left eye nearly 2 years ago... iv been messed up ever since. Thank you Dr. Mendelsohn. I had shingles on my left forehead for about 2.5 weeks now and I've taken Valtrex at the 4th day of noticing rash on my skin. Everything got better, but the issue i'm having is the redness in my left side of left eye isn't seem to be going away. Do you have any idea what the issue might be? Or does it simply take longer time for redness to go away?
I have shingles right now. I was diagnosed on December 27th. My rash is located on my scalp and forehead on my right side. The rash is almost at my eye but thank goodness my eye checked out ok by the eye dr. I will be following up with the optimologist on January 3rd. It is the most excruciating pain I've ever felt outside of labor pains. I am on the antiviral meds. I started them immediately. @@TheRmm1976 The pain and itching is really bad for about 2 weeks. Keep icing it. Ice was the only thing that numbed the pain. I was on valtrex and gabapentin. I have permanent nerve damage though

🎉 I have some advice about this itching from the shingles is wash it and then use apple cider vinegar straight and dab it on and it burns like crazy for about 3 or 4 minutes but once the burning is over then the itching stops for a good long time..
I got shingles maybe eight years ago.I saw a dermatologist within hours of waking up, a very tall man in his eighties. I had been swimming the day before and had greased down as well to use an old term..I often mix lotions and creams with lard. He said I was going to be covered. Shingles appeared on the right side of my head eyebrow and right eyelid. Felt like a stye. I was given prednisone and bloodwork. I went back for the bloodwork results only to be told by the dr on call I had shingles and was given the antiviral med to take for 7 days. I had shingles vaccine 4 yrs ago. I am a nurse so I went to the eye dr right away when the rash appeared. I did not have the typical severe pain, i have intermittent itching and soreness. I am on Valacyclovir for 10 days. By the 2nd day of Valacyclovir I feel much better. Less eyelid swelling and itching. I just had a few lesions breakout on the foreheaad, . one large one on my browbone, and a few at the inner corner of the eye. My scalp is sore, I probably have some lesions there. but of course I can't see them. I also take Zinc 50 mg daily as it has antiviral properties, and boosts the immune system. The moral of this long story is that I absolutely believe getting the Shingles vaccination although only protecting 50% of people getting the shot from getting shingles ( Zostravax )
sorry didn't complete. The shingles vaccine I believe is making my shingles much milder that it would have otherwise been without the shot. Please get the vaccine if you can, as Shingles although usually only seen in the elderly can develop at any age, it's just usually more devastating in the over 60 age group because the older we get, the less efficient our immune system is :-(

I have Shingles been on an Anti Viral medicine for three days. The burning over the eye and face is brutal. The headache pain and sinus pain are just as bad. I can see why some have committed suicide while going through this. It is a constant painful ordeal.

So, why don’t most home cures or remedies work most of the time? The thing is that there are some exceptions, like the one suggested in Kaena Ramingler’s website. It takes an average of 3 days to see results, but one you’ve finish, you’re done with it permanently.
I've been taking prescription meds and home remedies. I'm better but still dealing with itchy face and head and nerve damage a month later. I'm on medication at least one more month. Unfortunately, I don't think home remedies work. I'll continue to try different options but the valtrex seems to be the best medication for this. I'm just praying I get the feeling back in my head and above my eye.

please take note of my unusual symptoms for eye shingles, please! I must have a rare case of eye shingles because I did not get any blistering anywhere around my eye or nose. I believe it is called internal shingles “zoster sine herpete” (ZSH). But I did have some numbness on my forehead and side of my face and my eye was really hurting. My doc said it was pink eye which I knew it wasnt. i ended up going to the ER and they told me that I had shingles in my eye and treated me with an antiviral which miraculously worked because it was over 3 days. I returned to my eye specialist and he told me that he was surprised that I did not have blindness in my eye since there was a scaring very close to my cornea. I am going through a lot of stress, losing my father and other things and this shingles is coming back in other ways, but still no outward scabbing on my face but a cold sore inside my nose pretty deep...twice now. Today, the side of my face feels like a sunburn, no scabbing. but I do feel the flu like symptoms, headaches and eye pain. The family doc is not taking this seriously because she is not seeing any scabbing, and im scared to lose my vision in my eye. I will be going to my eye specialist instead.

I was diagnosed with herpes on my opthalmologic nerve in the 1970s at around age 5. It mostly attacked the orbit of the left eye. Since the age of 25, my hearing in the left ear declined eventually almost being now totally gone at age 50. Could the herpes virus have been involved with damaging the inner ear when in the opthalmolmic nerve?

All the talks have heard about shingles have been talking about it in general and the involving of especially the eyes. I have it currently going into it's 6th week. Mine involves the lower face and neck, scalp and ear; sometimes only the outer ear but then gets into the inner ear. I had the antiviral medfication within the 1st 72 hour fase, but is still very painful, leaving me ar times unbalanced. I have pain medication which works for only a lmited time period. My eye does not seems to be infected

Really good video. My father still suffers badly over three years after having shingles on his head and eye and treatment for the pain itch has done nothing to lessen it. He says it has got worst over time. I was wondering if Infrared used a couple of times a week would help but I would like feedback from anyone that has tried it. As it has the effect of growing small capillary veins it might help in repairing the damage done but obviously not on the eye itself.

There is a strong link emerging with the increase in shingles since Covid and the vaccines … ?due to reduced immunity.
I had shingles at 52 on left side of scalp down to Left eye and nose. My 21 year old daughter 2 months later got shingles across her Left side Flank/back. The doctor told us that it is more prevalent in youth now since covid and not to get any more vaccines.

I have this on the right side of my body, i have had flare ups on and off for 25 years, I was told it is Herpes Simplex and not Zoster as this one i have is recurring when there are periods of high stress in my life, it is horrible, I am 50 now and it is getting harder to handle the older I am getting. I had and Exscrutiating headache last week the next day I had a lot of pain on the left side of my scalp/head . The very next day it hurt so bad I could hardly bear it. So I called my doctors office and explained how I felt. She gave me an appointment for 1:40 PM that afternoon. Needless to say I waited over two hours , then when I was seen. Now the next day . I cannot take this pain it's now down my neck heading towards my cheek under my chin it's awful worst pain ever. I've gotten it 4 wks ago on my left arm and I'm in so much pain still. Its different stages of pain and it's all bad and every person is different. I have nerve damage in my left arm and it attacked that arm so bad and I haven't slept hardly at all this whole time. I went to the hospital the first day I felt tingling in my left arm and I got sent home and the next day I broke out in a rash and then saw my primary care dr and started meds right away. I used antibiotic cream on the rash and it helped the pain and itching and my rash was bad but nothing like this cause I did what I did right away....

And then this valacyclovir hcl 500mg that I need to take 2 tablets 3× a day... I went to walk in clinic then to the hospital and then the eye clinic/specialist, she looked at it and she said my eyes is in a good condition but I need to monitor it coz there's already some now that's really close to my eye. If it turns red and I see blurry vision I need to go to my family doctor asap then go back to the eye doctor, coz it might cause blindness. It's crazy man

Gabapentin does not work for this pain...not for me anyway. Morphine seems more like something that would work but I suffered it out. Hardest thing I'm going through. Almost through it though.
