Taylor Hicks is a Vegas guy now which seems fitting. He was always more of a big showboat crowdpleaser type guy, he can sing but he won because people loved watching him run around which was never ideal as a recording artist. Not even a diss, a mediocre career is still a career. End of the day he gets to sing professionally because of American Idol and Katharine and Daughtry who are more talented ended up more successful. It probably even helps Taylor more that he can put "American Idol Winner" by his name, rather than Daughtry and Katharine where it'd just be irrelevant. Sometimes life works out.

Wild Card was there from Season 1, Judges Save started Season 8 so way after Chris Daughtry's elimation. Ryan wasn't trying to be mean, I'm sure he just felt how we all did. He was angry at the results, but still had to maintain his 'host face' because he was on television. The only way he could show his anger and shock was to act the way he did and be passive aggressive through statements like, "Chris Daughtry, ladies and gentleman, based on YOUR VOTES."

I was so heartbroken when he was eliminated. But, I saw him on the first tour after the Daughtry album came out. My friend and I saw him at the bar at Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando the night before the concert. He and Brian Craddock sat outside with us for almost 2 hours just shooting the Shit and drinking coffee (of all things). Lol He was such a sweet guy. He expressed that he was glad that he didn’t win Idol. They have total control of what music you make when you win. I continued seeing him 20 more times over the next 8 years. He was always so humble and he still remembered the first time we all met in Orlando. It use to be easy to see the band after concerts. I miss those days. Rock On, Chris and the rest of Daughtry. Y’all have done so well. Proud of you!

The look on Chris's face was so sad! Just so real and broken like his dream ended. But so strong of him to quickly recover on the outside though it must have hurt for that night and several days more.

Revisiting this after the Masked Singer. Crazy to see this is where he started his journey. He was very successful.
They did Chris a favor. And I agree that he is probably the most successful of American Idol contestants. I like a few of Kelly Clarkson's song's but........I have TWO of Daughtry's CD's downloaded to my phone. And yes, they were legally downloaded.
By any measure Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the most successful Idols.

Season 5 was basically the exact opposite of Season 6.
Season 6: The winner went on to have a successful career, but everyone else faded into obscurity.
Season 5: The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers all went on to have successful careers, but the winner faded into obscurity.
I COULD NOT believe that Taylor Hicks won against Chris Daughtry. Taylor Hicks is not even in the same league as Chris! Look at the fame and musical career that Chris took on after Idol that year, and the years to come! Taylor who?? Chris should have won Idol. Nice going America! It just goes to show how many hicks there really are in this country.

Literally no one expected this even Simon lol. That's pretty much when I quit watching. It's funny too because although Katharine McPhee was pretty good and relatively successful afterward, Taylor Hicks basically went nowhere, and ironically Daughtry ended up being the most popular and most successful one. Best fourth-place finish I'd say
Chris is still an American Idol. All these years later he still has my vote.

It was the first time I really never missed a show. I had to see Chris! My kid sent me that song to let me know they were coming home from Afghanistan..... HOME, Chris's song.; I'm coming home, to a place were I belong. Thank you Chris. Your this military families American Idol.
