Did this about a year ago on my BMW E81 116d. I think it’s where the flexi sits it’s quite close to the road and sometimes gets hit going over big speed bumps. Very helpful video as always👍
My previous 320d LCI had the same problem. I had BMW fix it. They told me that if DPF looked fine (I used the car for commuting so DPF was fine) then they would just (stainless) weld new flex on to the DPF. So that was what they did and I did not pay a fortune for the best possible solution to the problem 😊
Funny, I had the same issue years ago on my e90 and indeed, BMW tried to sell me a new cat for €1500. Over time I learned that BMW does not repair but only replace parts. Making the dealer very expensive...
What ramps are you using on the front? I have an E92 and I’m always concerned that wheel ramps will take the bumper off while trying to get up on them? 😬
Those U clamps are pretty rubbish in my experience of messing about with exhausts... always try and fit band clamps whenever you can, as those U clamps can vibrate loose over time and cause leaks
I would rather pay a few more quid and get a flexi from bmw ,rather than have to grind the flange off. Saves time, and you don't get sparks in your face.
Im not sure what looks horrendous? Its a perfect example of how to do it without spending a fortune. I mean if the bonnet had been sprayed with a rattle can id see your point, but this works, and is out of sight. Who cares if there is an addition U clamp where it cant be seen. Its a 14yr old motor with plenty of life left in it. 🤷♂️

I've got a similar situation with a e82 118d [n47] except mine has gone further up the flexi surprisingly it passed an mot with it!!
I'm exhausted just watching you working on your back.
Haha.. won’t be long until I have that 2 post lift🙌🏻
@@GeorgeAusters thank God

I’ve never known a BMW dealership to weld anything
@ they didn’t weld it themselves but had the work done at a garage nearby. Good service
I’ve the same issue and my question is.. after fitting the flexi pipe can i leave it without connecting the whole exhaust system?
What you mean leave it?

Yep, they are not mechanics at dealerships. They are just part fitters👍🏻

Linked in description mate!
@ thank you!
It also affect's the E84.
Yep pretty much the same on all the diesels👍🏻
👍
Poor design the flexi isn’t a replaceable part, good job 👍🏻
I ordered this flex repair plus full clean of the DPF. It all costed me 350euro. Without a lift, not worth such an effort
Those U clamps are pretty rubbish in my experience of messing about with exhausts... always try and fit band clamps whenever you can, as those U clamps can vibrate loose over time and cause leaks
Been great so far👍🏻
Nobody in the right mind would go to bmw dealer to fix e91s exhaust anyway ,or would have to be right plonker 😅
Haha!

You can't get a flexi from BMW.
That looks horrendous 😂 talk about a bodge job
How does it look horrendous?

Mine his blowing on my 520d.
Yep common problem on all the diesels👍🏻
