Great review. I actually live really close to the distillery, so went down there today for a tour and tasting. I walked out with a bottle of the 90 proof sweet mash bourbon. All three were good...I liked it the best.
How would it change your opinion either way? Genuinely curious, I don’t really understand the difference but it seems like column for better consistency I think and pot being more “batched”? Or something?
Tasted these on my livestream last night and almost agree with you 100%. The wheated was my least favorite. The Four grain is where it’s at for my palate with those butterscotch and tobacco notes and I’m not a cigar lover. There’s nothing like that Hard Truth butterscotch note and the four grain has it on spades! Cheers bro!
@@TheMashandDrum @whiskeytornado Have either of you had strong butterscotch flavors off the first tasting, which then later goes away on subsequent pours? I remember getting a strong butterscotch off my first time with Benchmark Full Proof but didn't get it again from the same bottle and follow ups. I agree that its one of the best flavor profiles to get out of a bottle.
I’ve seen this lineup reviewed on another one of my favorite TH-cam channels, and I’m really looking forward to finding and trying the wheated bourbon Hard Truth. I also just really like the bottle design, and the all-cork stopper, like Pikesville Rye has.
Hey Jason, speaking of local craft distilleries. Did you see my hometown Laws winning 2024 best small batch bourbon? I would love to see your review of their products sometime
Great video Jason. If I can find them I'm thinking I'll try the regular bourbon and four grain. I'm finding I don't like wheaters as much as I used to.
Jason, I've yet to see any Whiskey Tubers give an opinion (may have missed it) on if there's any differences with Rare Breed since it has a new label. I respect your reviews am interested in your assessment on whether Campari is messing with our beloved Rare Breed?
Yeah there will be some variation from batch to batch, however the flavors on this one was so cinnamon heavy it reminded me of an Amburana finish. Also it reminds me of some of the single barrels that I have tasted on the warehouse that were rejected. So there is probably some of those in those batch
Jason, what is your favorite whiskey? (I mean best of your life time) Lately I have developing kind of confusion. So many great whiskeys (bourbon, rye, single malt, blended) available for purchase, but for my pallet some good, some so-so, some great, some amazing. I understand that impossible to try all of them, and kind of stopped to purchase new releases, new small distilleries, new blenders, etc. Currently I'm target only known large distilleries, otherwise I'm already get lost on current market. Your channel and other whiskeys review channels help me to pick good bottles. Mostly my may nose and pallet agreed with reviews.
A favorite is tough. I don't think I could personally pick a favorite. But king of Kentucky would be up there, George T stagg, old pirate bottle Elijah Craig barrel proof.
Thanks for the great review, Jason! With the unique & quality stuff Hard Truth has been putting out, they are definitely a brand to watch. Like you, the 90pf bourbon sounds like it might be up my alley. Seems like, with the other two being 100pf, they should've released all 3 at 100pf.
Great review brother. The Four Grain is right up my alley as I love the cigar blends like Buzzards Roost, JMCB, and Starlight. But the Sweet Mash will be on my list as well
Jason is getting everything before literally anyone else lol. Pretty sure he's gotten bottles and samples before the distillery employees or something, damn lol
Not gonna lie seen hard truth and thought we were gonna get hard truths about bourbons rant 😆 jk. Think 2024 may open more ppl up to bourbons like these with price & allocation lately.
Just found a bottle of the 4 Grain, loving it
Great review. I actually live really close to the distillery, so went down there today for a tour and tasting. I walked out with a bottle of the 90 proof sweet mash bourbon. All three were good...I liked it the best.
Does Hard Truth use column or pot stills?
How would it change your opinion either way? Genuinely curious, I don’t really understand the difference but it seems like column for better consistency I think and pot being more “batched”? Or something?
Column
@@Wild_Danimal For me it was just whiskey nerd curiosity. I don't think I have an opinion either way on column vs pot.
I have a single barrel at cask strength, about 112+. Delicious. It says mashbill BW1. Wonder if that is the wheated one?

Yeah man. I think over time that 4 grain could become my favorite.

Love the videos. Keep them coming
I think their history in brewing beer made an easy transition to the sweet mash process for their spirits. Cheers 🥃
All three just arrived here in Indy. Thanks for the breakdown!
Enjoyed the review, Jason! If you had to choose the Hard Truth Sweet Mash vs. the Green River Wheated, which one would you choose?
Sweet Mash I think.

Just got the 4 grain and it’s fantastic. I have the wheated but haven’t cracked it yet. Cheers
Great review, very informative! I’m lined up with most of your reviews so I’ll be trying the bourbon first! Thanks! Cheers!

Awesome review.
Still looking for this distillery to come to Md. but it’s one my radar if I see it out there.
Hope to see these around my area soon. Seems like most things take 3-6 months before they start showing up in Missouri.
They're here around the stl area. Have you found any yet?
@@mattschmitt9924 Not down in the Springfield area but I recently went to Nashville and picked up a bourbon and a high rye bourbon.
@@TheDrSpEd just got the Wheated BIB yesterday and it was nice. Others say it's the worst of the batch so I am looking forward to the others.
I will be looking for BIB 4 grain. Great to see another good quality bourbon made here in Indiana.

@@TheMashandDrum Thanks 👍
Sound good to me...hope they make it North ! Cheers Jason !
I picked up the Hard Truth Sweet Mash 2 Wheated Bourbon BIB and it is fantastic. Need to try to the other 2. 🥃

Great reviews I have to get all 3 🥃👋👍. Cheers
Sounds like some budget bangers incoming. Nice!
Proof of work!
Not a cigar guy, but really enjoying that four grain
I'm not a fan of tobacco undertones, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the sweet mash in NJ!
Great review brother. The Four Grain is right up my alley as I love the cigar blends like Buzzards Roost, JMCB, and Starlight. But the Sweet Mash will be on my list as well
Great review as usual. Your reviews are top notch. I hope you get to 100,000 very soon. Very deserving. Cheers brother!

WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Now everyone is on Hard Truth bourbon. Does any Indy do any content that is t copied from someone else’s channel?
Who's everyone??
It's almost like whiskey reviewers review new whiskey on release, when it becomes available.
