Having owned three Burmese cats, I can tell you how sweet and loving they truly are. They feel as though they are family members, not pets. Super sweet and vocal too. Beautiful to look at. Very loyal as well. Best breed ever.

Would you say they will thrive in say a 2 bed apartment? Hows their shedding and temperament in your home? They like to pull on curtains? Haha

@@tangofoxtrot40 My sable brown one never shed, but the blonde one shed quite a bit. They love climbing up furniture like the back of your couch and before rainstorms, they would climb up my fridge and sit on top of the upper cabinets. They enjoyed staring down at you... a few times I had to grab a chair and get them down. Still, the sweetest cats ever - not a mean bone in any of them.

@@tangofoxtrot40 my first Burmese and I lived in a two room apartment when I was a student - he was perfectly happy. After we d moved to a bigger apartment I once had to bring him back (it was my dads apartment he didn’t use regularly ) because a pregnant relative was visiting for the weekend and she was scared of being around a cat. He jumped every window - he seemed extremely thrilled to be back . My dad said it likely was because he passed his happiest years there (I never spent as much time home than as a student later)
My cat loved our cozy apartment and didn’t miss any space it Seemed

Our Burmese could fetch, walk on a leash, use the human toilet, and say the words hello "ha'wow" and Mummy "mam'me". He's getting on a bit now at 17.

I used to take care of cats and dogs at a kennel/animal hotel. I love both but since most people prefer dogs I spent more time than anyone with the cats. We have had many amazing and loving cats come though, but the one who left the biggest impact was the Burmese. She was so affectionate and loved being picked up. Rubbed my chin with the top of her head when I’d hold her. Would meow soft and sweet as I’ve ever heard like it was asking for affection rather than demanding or whining. I will never forget Minka, one of the greatest living creations I’ll ever experience meeting. While all animals are special in their own way, there are some that are so personable it makes me wonder why they are so different

I remember growing up with cats similar looking to this back in Myanmar/Burma. They had short hair and very affectionate. And they also like to hunt critters

I had 9 cats sadly one of each breed has crossed The Rainbow Bridge. 2 are British shorthair and 5 Burmese. My two oldest Burmese girls 'mothered' all the other cats when they arrived as kittens. My blue girl Sheba actually let my blue british sh suckle her which is odd!! The BSH kitten was 13 weeks and weened she's also a blue and my blue Burmese girl has never had kittens! Burmese NEED another Burmese as a friend. It's true to have just 1 of them. They love company, someone to play with, someone to groom and someone to sleep with. My 5 all sleep together, groom each other. they play fetch without being taught. When bored they chew slippers, mail, newspapers, books. If there is only one of them as when we got our first, she drove me nuts, followed everywhere I went in the house, would talk non stop! that's when I realised she needed a friend. The breeder knew I'd be back asking for a play mate for her. This is why she showed me what would become my 2nd Burmese Sheba when she was only 6 weeks old. Both my girls are 10 now and still play as if theyre kittens. At the moment of writing this, ive one sleeping on my wrist! a Burmese, a British SH determined to get pets, my other burmese girl is having a mad half hour. The others are cat napping, next to me. You may think my home over run with cats? no there are times it's impossible to find them, like going to the vet! Please never get one Burmese they REALLY do need a friend.

I had a Burmese for twenty years and he was on his own and the most loving and happy cat, no sign of longing for another feline companion.

@@reasonrestored9116 That's awesome! Did he ever show signs of distress when you weren't home for periods of time? I'm thinking of adopting but I work a 9-5, so I'm scared of them developing separation anxiety.

If you let them outside they will become the neighborhood cat. In the afternoon when I went out to get her home, I walked around and called her name and eventually she would pop over the fence or out of the doggy door of a random house and then follow me home.
