  • Grolsch Going Baroque - Concerto for Flute.
In the late sixties of the last century, thousands of people asked Grolsch who the composer was of the classical soundtrack that was used in the 'Vakmanschap is Meesterschap' TV commercials. Nobody knew that it was specially written for Grolsch by the young and talented Amsterdam musician Clous van Mechelen. Gerard Brummer, marketing and communications manager at Grolsch at that time, entrusted Clous van Mechelen to compose a full baroque concerto for flute and orchestra, based on the immense popular Grolsch tune. And so he did. The recording of this concerto took place in 1968 together with the recording of a soul version based on the same tune. Both versions where published the same year as a 45 rpm. EP. And here it is, the flute concerto, right from the vinyl record: 'Grolsch going Baroque & Soul', Allegro - Largo - Allegro Molto.
