I have one of these saws. When it runs, it is a powerful little saw. I believe the felt pad is beginning to degrade in mine as it will be running fine and then start flooding out. Take it apart, clean the carb, reassemble and repeat....
I found a fat O ring to seal the tank barb to the carb. I think I may be trying your felt pad elimination trick soon.

I solved the fuel delivery problem by changing the sex of the carburetor and fuel tank. I used a 1/4(?) nch Fuel Line Fitting Nipple, which I pressed into the carburetor, turning it male. For the fuel tank, I used a fuel line for a Stihl 020av p/n 1114 358 7700, turning the tank female. It works perfectly, with no leaks, and you can use a regular chainsaw fuel filter.

If you remember microfiche cards those are .005 thick. I used the old ones that were updated to measure coil/flywheel distance. Cut in strips 1/2" or so & staple 1 end. I always made those in 3s (.015) so you could use as needed. The Stihl model 015 used that fuel barb/tank setup also.

i worked on one today that leaked at tank and carb nipple due to shrinkig of rubber fuel line.. i took a 18 gauge electrical butt connector. cut off plastic outer part and pushed into the nipple end carefully and great effort. expands both tank and carb rubbers to seal tighter. now if i could get the carb to idle well a seal on the disc high speed check is my biggest issue with these mdc carbs for me and throttle shafts wore out. thought sharing with people who cant find a fuel nipples unless ebay has one selling [rarely] for 70$$ but free!!! shipping. hosers supreme . gougers supreme!!

Very neat little top handle. I do a little climbing so I have an enthusiasm for top handles. I see a lot of people run them on thr ground but this is not what they are intended for. There are plenty of rear handle options for smaller stuff, older people or ladies.

I had one that had shrunk, but was still flexible. I took a fuel inlet pipe off a junk carb and straightened it out and put it inside the hose. It made it slightly larger in diameter and seals like a champ.

Leon, you are a fantastic chainsaw mechanic, we all wish we had the opportunity to have you fix our saws man. I’m going to have a couple saws sent your way whene finances become more allocated to things I’d like instead of need. Never seen a video on these and they are a very big pain to work on because every repair, is a full tear down.
