I see value in revisiting older books, games, movies and the like. In the past 5 years, I read 2 books every December, Of Mice and Men and Team Yankee. Both books remind me or certain things I need to be reminded of often. Of Mice in Men is the best novel written, in my opinion. Team Yankee I am partial to, but not a greatest book ever written, but scratches an itch for me. I am a big believer in backstory, from both a player standpoint and a DM standpoint. As Chad said, plot hooks for the DM. As a player, it helps me keep my character real, giving it idiosyncrasies and motivations. I may have written lengthy backstories once or twice. Thanks for sharing and taking time out of your simulation for it. After all. you're programmed to do it.
I can't speak for the other 2, but I have only ever reread 1 book. The first Star Wars book I had was The Last Command, which is the third book in the Thrawn trilogy. Someone bought it for me and I went ahead and read it despite it being book 3. Then years later I bought the other 2 books. I read them and went ahead and reread the third book to have a better grasp of the backstory and context. I probably should reread a few books.
@@geekcabal2599 I as well reread the Thrawn Trilogy earlier this year. I have reread about two dozen books at least once. I know Owen is reading Red Storm Rising, I have read it four times. Rereading books is like rewatching a movie, just a bigger time investment. I have watched several TV shows and mini series several times, and they can be a time suck equal to a book. The two TV series I have rewatched the most are Justified and Friday Night Lights, both 10/10. The two mini series I have watched the most are Lonesome Dove and Shogun, the 80's version, again both 10/10.
@@charbroilbeefcake6095 I've probably rewatched Star Trek The Next Generation a few times, but not purposefully going through it episode by episode. I've purposefully rewatched Stranger Things a few times. I rewatch movies all the time. As far as books, I should probably reread Dune and then read some of the others in the series after Children of Dune.

For myself I've reread Starship Troopers, The Dresden Files, Lord of the Rings, The Hero and the Crown.
