    My harlequin rasboras are by far the most bullet proof fish I have ever kept. They are also long lived. Behavior is not particularly interesting, but I like the color/pattern. Always enjoy your site.

    Never seen the brilliant green rasbora until about a year ago at my local Petco (got lucky that my particular store is crazy awesome with hobbyists running their fish department). Nobody wanted these little guys so I took them home to my 75 (after quarantine). They grew up big and strong. Colors are crazy nice under good lighting and they've been ideal peaceful tank inhabitants! Never seen the rummy nose in person, but I'll definitely be watching for them. Great show!!

    My favorite on the list is the Chili's. I'm going to be upgrading my little desk setup out of a Petco 3.7g Imagitarium to a standard 10gal that I got off my brother who was downsizing his total # of aquariums. I'll be moving over a single albino Cory, a handful of Amano shrimp, and one mystery snail and think a few Chili Rasbora and maybe a few CPD's would be a good choice. I plan on planting the tank so there should be plenty of places to hide if needed. I really like the Imagitarium it's just a pain to clean especially the inside of the filter compartments.

    I just started my first real aquarium about two months ago, and have a school of 8 kubotais in a 29 gallon with a few platys. They're awesome! Super active and great color with a dark background, and they'll usually follow me to whatever side of the glass I'm on expecting food. I was actually having some trouble getting the platy to come out during feeding time because they were so shy and would run away when I got near the tank, but since adding the kubotai they seem more comfortable and just today they actually came out to eat as I was standing next to the tank. Highly recommend these guys!

    I recently purchased 6 Dwarf Emerald Rasboras and I was shocked that they failed to make the cut. They are beautiful!!!! I've always been a fan of larger fish and I'm a catfish junkie! LOL!! But these Emerald Rasboras are changing my mind. I can't even imagine how fabulous 75 of them in my 125 gallon would look!!!! But all the fish here are super cool little fish.

    Thank you Jason! Those little rummy nose are gorgeous! I'm going to ask my local fish monger about them. Meanwhile, my Galaxy Rasbora have never been shy and don't hide. As soon as they know I'm around, they all flock to the front of the tank hopeful for dinner. They're little pigs.
    My chili's are adorable too! I have them in a tank with 2 honey gourami and it's been a peaceful mix for over a year. Probably because the honeys are busy sparring. They never injure each other, and to my surprise they hang out together often. But the sparring is funny. I hope it stays this peaceful. Have a great day!

    While I love the brilliant coloring of my chilis, I just got my first ever CPD school and am in love! Their personality is unbeatable for a fish of that size - they’re very curious and constantly engaging with their environment / hunting for micro-prey. Will need to give rummy nose a try in the future too!

    I loved this video, and I'm in love with the tiny rasboras. I started with cramming as many fish as possible in one tank, gradually my thinking changed and I kept the trend for nano fish.
    The first time I tried keeping chili rasbora, I was not successful, but in the summer 23 I decided to give them another go and bought 8, they are so beautiful that I removed the other fish and added another 8. together with the red chilli shrimp all I see is darts of red amongst the green plants. Last week I passed a pet shop and decided to stop, they had chili rasbora and I bought 4 more, once I put them in the tank I realised there was a difference, and lots of time on google and TH-cam later, I concluded that my new rasbora are actually spotted rasbora, I felt like the cat who got the cream, today I went back there and bough another 3, they looked very poorly and one died pretty much right away which the shrimp decided to snack on = its the circle of life I guess....
    I have another tank with dwarf emerald green rasbora
    And for good measure I made another tank for galaxy rasbora
    All in all I love these tiny rasbora.
    I'm all about nano fish in fully planted aquariums. I even made some aquariums out of clear storage boxes lol
    thanks for this video - miniature rasbore rank the highest for me.
    Keep posting 👍👍

  • @simianlife5949
    @simianlife5949 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love this list. An underrated rasbora is the emerald-eye. They aren't striking with their overall color but when the iridescence of their blue-green eyes shows, they really pop. They are also a fantastic schooling fish, I would say better than any on the list---mine set the tone for the other fish as they school across my 33 gallon. Somewhat random side note that I'm not sure where it came from in my brain: I think it would be so cool if there was a tiki bar with a large (50 gallons or so) tank stocked with rasboras only (plus clean-up crew). Just seems like a cool fit.

    The only 2 rasboras that I've kept so far, are the Chili rasboras and CPDs. I currently have both of these in a planted 10 gallon aquarium. The chilis look amazing against the plants when they're fired up. Re the CPDs, I am very lucky to have a fellow hobbyist nearby who breeds them in the exact same water parameters that I have.

    I had some Harlequin Rasboras that would sleep on the edges of the aquarium like tree frogs. Looked like they were stuck to the sides. When I turned on lights they would wake up and swim normally. Also, I bought some Praecox Rainbows for my 55,, but they were smaller than Neons, so I put them in smaller aquarium with Rasboras until they grew bigger. Rasboras and Praecox shoaled beautifully together.

    The brilliant green rasboras kind of look like a flashier version of a White Cloud minnow.

    Our scissortails have been a pleasant surprise to our community tank. Granted not colorful, they’re fun to watch with the tail fin for its namesake.
    Not sure if they’re better then the others on the list but they’re a schooling fish I’ll probably keep for a while.

    No Harlequin or smaller Pork Chop Rasboras I know you chose to limit it to five but I do believe there are other Rasboras ut there, maybe you could do another video on them. I notice some said the scissor tail Rasboras. There is the Emerald Rasbora. Just here there are four find one more and you got a five to make a video.

    hey I desperately need advice from anyone who will listen. I have a betta in a 90l tank (23gal) and I tried putting in a school of ten rummynose tetra but they attacked and fin nipped at the betta so much so I got rid of them. Any advice on schooling fish with with my halfmoon betta? he is the sweetest thing and has never flared up in his life he just gets attacked by schooling fish :(

      There’s no guarantee with any fish, but we have done ember tetras, brilliant rasboras, galaxy rasboras before. The trick is to keep the tetras well-fed (we feed them twice per day).

    Just had someone telling me how they dont do well in large tanks and they need water changes every week. Then i come to see this video days after lol

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  ปีที่แล้ว

      They do just fine in large tanks. We don’t do anything special for water changes - just weekly. We’ve had thousands and thousands in the fish room - no issues.

    I bought myself 10 kubotai raboras/greens, they were supoosed to be peacefull but all they did was chase each other and bite the fins off each other and other fish.

    Would it be okay to keep rasboras in a tank at 78 degrees? I’ve gotten mixed info online

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics

      Absolutely - we keep all of ours between 76-80.

    The Galaxies/CPDs had a bad habit of disappearing forever, but they were colorful cuties in their own way.

    The chapter for the rummy’s says #10… it should say #5 as ther are only 5 rasboras in this video.

    How can Harlequins and Scissortails not make the top five. Scissortails are one of the most close shoaling and elegant swimmers available. They should have come in at first and second place!

    I have (2) 6g cub tanks. One currently have 5 cpds. Would you suggested doing a chili only tank or would it be safe to add chili in with the cpd and if so how many? I don’t want to overstock.
