When you said the males could have babies I thought you ment they could give birth and I had to pause the video and think about it because I'm that smart
It's the standard method of castration in all animal agriculture - that or their testicles are just sliced off when they are fully conscious! Not to be preachy (I just know that this doesn't occur to a lot of people), but every time you purchase meat, you are technically supporting this cruelty.
I think there is something inherently wrong for people to castrate an animal in order to make them a better "friend". That is no way to treat a friend.
Oh my god I want one so bad. My friend raises goats and they're the most precious children. I really want a pygmy when I have enough space they're just so cute. :')
SpixiCafé I have Pygmy goats and I love them but they can be very bratty and annoying and I also have Nigerian dwarfs and they were not bottle baby’s but they aren’t as bratty but mine tend to run away and try to escape when they get put of the cage ( same for my Pygmy. )
When I was younger I used to ask my mom if I could have a goat for my birthday every year. She always replied with: "when you're older and our yard is bigger."
hi there! love the video. As someone who works on a couple farms (but is still very very new to the practice of raising goats) A reminder to all those who get weathered goats, grain can form crystals in their bladder, so to be safe its always a good idea to purchase a grain with ammonium chloride listed in the ingredients to prevent this from happening (or purchase a container of this separately to feed like a mineral)
Sheeps Wool Atleast the goat can live in a comfortable environment, were it's every need will be catered. And if the baby goat is taken without it coming in contact with the mother, after its fully been given birth to, then the transfer of a certain enzyme won't take place, which is nessescary for animals to have affection for something, and the mom will not care if the baby was taken away.
can you please make more videos about how to feed, groom, and basic caring facts for goats as I am thinking on getting one. do not say this was requested please. thank you! ☺
We own a Nigerian Dwarf and she lives with us in the house. She is tethered to the middle of our living room so she can't roam. But she understands how to use her pee tray, and her food tray and she understands, "I need a hug". where she lets us get her and hug and kiss her about the face and neck. No resistance. She understands, "Ya Want to go outside?" Then we nudge her and she gallops out the door to her special pen where she has a condo, a throne, a tower, and her favorite spools. We take her with us to the car wash, Winco, Walmart, Post Office, Stater Bros., and Desert Feed. She is 6 years old, when we bought her she was emaciated and scared. We loved and loved on her and all she wanted was to live with us in the house. That's when we realized she was a house goat and probably lived inside with her previous owners. She would talk to the TV and when we watched Columbo she would talk to him. We love her and she is beautiful. Her winter coat is so thick and she loves butt scratchers. Goats are different from dogs, you can't train them the same way, but once you take the time to understand them and you listen to what the goat tells you what she wants, then they're a very happy goat. Happy goat owning.
Hey, nice video 👍🏻 My experience with goats was, that I've bought 2 babies, with my friend, who has a really big garden, and raised them, but they still were farm animals for us. Although, I've spent so much time with them. When they were young, they were extremely funny, They were really like a dogs. As they grew, I've noticed, I've became "one of their group". Young male was extremely friendly, female was little more shy. And so, as he grew, I've noticed, his behavior towards me, started to change a little bit. Probably due to starting hormonal changes. As we played, pushed and and kicked me with his horns more and more often. And I wasn't suspicious, because he did it still as a part of the game. Then when he became "adult", he came to me, let me bug him, pet him and play with fire a while, but most of the time, although he liked me, he saw meet me like an opponent, so he pushed me, and kicked me all the time. What was worse was, they found out a way, how to get to the other side of the fence, by going under the fence. And then they were bug problem, because they got into the nice part of the garden. Young fruit trees were done with growing, and other flowers also. Unfortunately, next year they became such an assholes. Electric fences weren't a problem anymore, and they had to move to their new home. J
I just got my 3 month old goat banded by a vet I feel terrible now but I tried to find one who did it surgically but I couldn’t amazing video loved it!
I use to work at my local zoo and cared for goats and would love to again when I have a place so I would love to here more from you as someone who cares for them full time as pets.
This was fantastic! I get my goats banded by my vet they get lots of treats, pain medication, and cuddles afterwards...so I have had no problems with it.
My grandma lives in proper rural back country and she kept goats for a while among other things... the first one she had was alone for a long while... a couple of years or more... we were good friends and would often horse around... i would feed her plum leaves and she would try to eat my green shorts :) now i got my own house and yard and was thinking of getting some goats and chickens... its gonna be a messy business but i think i can pull it off
We bought a Nigerian dwarf. We love her. We built a jungle gym for her. At first we didn't know if our two German shepherds would get along. Well make a long story short, she has her herd. She runs, they chase her. She is having a ball. She eats nothing she is suppose to like. Now, she eats her corn and hay, she likes her treats. But what she really loves is saltine crackers and caramel corn. I wish we to get her to eat fruits. She really has enlightened my wife's life. We are in our 60's. I wish we could post pictures.
Oh Goats! I live on a farm and ai have been dreaming about getting goats! I used to habe sheep, they knew how to walk in a leash and they were so much fun! I feel like goats are probably just as much fun, if not more!
I absolutely love goats and your vids! I would love to get some and wouldn't mind there peskiness either. Please do some more videos like this, like maybe Alpacas As Pets, Horses As Pets, or anything like that! Thanks so much!
My brother saved a 3 day sickly baby goat from a livestock auction unfortunately he could not bring the mama but her name is Frida. 💕 She is 4 yrs old and is about to be a mother for the second time! Enjoyed your video!
There is a white coat the climbed up on the little wooden bench and featured quite a bit in this video. Please can you tell me the breed? I had one just like this and sadly he died a year and a half. He was given to me so I did not know what breed he was. I like the way his horns gently curved back, I We would always hold onto the horn to make sure he didn’t accidentally bump me in the eye with a horn when we were petting him. Thanks 😊
just a thought - if they eat grass, is it important to not use certain fertilizers and weed killer and such? I imagine that if its on or absorbed by the grass, it will get the little guys sick.
We have feed blocks, mineral blocks is what they are normally called but do you use them for your goats? We have a pair a Pygmy and Fainting goat, they eat one of the 10 pound blocks of grain/molasses mix in like two or three weeks though the smaller ones are taking them much longer right now. We have a berry flavored block that is called The Billy Block its basically a salt block with other minerals mixed in and is brightly colored and in my honest opinion smells really good.
Hi! I want to have a goat, but I have a beautiful garden...I have a garden and next to it, separated by a little wall (like a little high than a person’s waist ), and I didn’t want my goat to go to my garden and ruin it. Do you think I can teach a goat not to jump the wall?
My city ordinance states 1 miniature goat is permitted as a house pet. I've always wanted a goat. We have a decent backyard and we're allowed to walk them on leashes like a dog out in public. How well can they get along with a cat?
Not sure if you mention this but Goats can live 15-18 years it's a long term commitment. If you have to move or for what ever reason can't keep your goat might be more difficult to find someone to take the goat who will care for them as well as you did.
Do you think goats make good indoor pets as well? Obviously they would need some outdoor excercise, but can the be trained to not eat furniture and be 'polite' in your house like dogs can?

yeah i know its so sad, but I love meat so much :(. I find it disgusting how humans treat animals its borderline torture.
I rather not
I think there is something inherently wrong for people to castrate an animal in order to make them a better "friend". That is no way to treat a friend.
@@declanmcstephan1382 It's not "borderline' torture. It's outright, abject, certifiable torture!

Briyelle Sikes hi! We’re looking into Pygmy goats but don’t wanna milk them so do you have to milk Pygmys or no?
Hazel Rogers hi! No pygmy goats are in the meat and pet category of goats not dairy. So you don't have to milk them.
Bri L where can i buy a pygmy goat?🥺
