Matt Lauer was an excellent host - I loved his questions and his choice of words. And Lynda's definition "diva" was better than - and impressed - Diana's.
Though I saw the RTL tour and it was an incredible show, I really wanted to see Mary and Cindy with Diana. I don't think it will ever happen, I still wish it happens.
@@fephoenix9208 trying to call those lesser talents as Supremes is ridiculous. Dianna lying she jumped ahead of Mary and grabbed a big slice of pie for herself $20million and tried to get Mary to accept $2million and Mary wasn't having it. She's a lying popeyed thot.
It was really unfortunate. Scherrie recently revealed Mary’s manager later said to her, that it was his fault everything went the way it did. You could kind of see the regret from Mary years later, that she was being so difficult.
Great as Diana is (and was), Supreme's fans are the most cynical, in no way would they ever support anyone other than Mary or Cindy despite the value and abilities of Lynda and Scherrie both with some claim to the name. It looked like the chemistry was there, the two realized their roles in this, sadly, the true fans never accepted it, hence the promotion flopped. Not Diana's fault, true fans believe what the believe to be the truth. Scherrie Payne is a gorgeous and talented lady.
I think that the tour failed because it was again just focused on Ross I'm glad Lynda and Scherrie got the extra exposure that they deserved. They are phenomenal singers. True talent. However it wasn't really a tour by a trio, just Ross with 2 other Supremes (and additional backing singers.) It was a real wasted opportunity.
Actually there is more to the story. The promoters tried to rope Diana into another deal. They told her if she refused the deal they would cancel the tour. The girls spoke about it on a web page.

The promoters tried to get Miss Ross to scale the tour down/back a huge deal and she refused to do so bc it would’ve meant the loss of jobs for many who were employed on the tour. She fought to save their jobs and continue at the scale that they currently had, and bc crowds were not as large as they anticipated thanks to MW going hither and yon telling one and all not to support it, the tour folded… and everything was heaped upon Miss Ross’s shoulders like it was her fault.. when it WASNT.
@@dddddadadad1796 Something wasn't right about Mary from the start. She was ghetto and acted inappropriately quite often. She had troubles with her personal life. The thing that disappointed me the most about her was her reaction after her son died in a car accident when she was at the wheel. 1 month later she was interviewed by Sally Jessica Rafael.When asked if she was still in shock she said that she was ok with letting him go. But she also said that during the funeral she was pissed because the papparazzi didnt take any pictures of her .. and she enjoyed the attention from the people that came there. Unfortunately, I think that Mary enjoyed and missed the lightlight. Her bitterness runs deep with all the tragedies including having an abusive husband. It's too bad

I thought Linda joined the group in 1972.
I think officially it was like December of 71 but she had to learn before joining while they finished the album
