I have watched a lot of these videos and used to wounder how they lived like this. But always remarked on how clean, how happy and how much commerce was happening. But still wondered how they could live like this, until I watched someone do a similar walk around some American streets, where all the shops were closed, tents and make shift shelters were everywhere, people clearly out of their faces on drugs. I come to the conclusion that people are happier if they have more freedom to buy and sell and set up less regulated commerce, even with what looks like pretty unregulated food sales, people in the Philippines look a dam sight more healthy and clean than the drug ridden homeless on the streets of America. The west have to cut the regulations that are stopping or making it far to expensive and regulated to even think about opening up a business.
This is the parts of the Phillipines i enjoy visiting, this is raw and unpretentious real and interesting, yes parts of Makati are beautiful and modern, but this the heart and soul of the Phillipines.

Try going to BERGOS, WESTERN SAMAR,across the water from TALLALORA,I went there last year for a month,I went to CAPBALOGAN, ALSO BABATGNON,TACLOBAN,and on the way home I had a few nights in CAVITE,MANILA, and such freindly, resourceful,and also admirable in alot of ways,I'm lucky cos I've family in BURGOS,and the place I stay is out of this world,right on the water,they have a pier and large bar,big enough for all the village as they often have celebrations and parties,I'm saving to go next year and can't wait,I have so many friends in the Philippines,and family also,so I'm blessed,take care and enjoy all!!! coming from a middle class in the Philippines you'd be surprised how liveable these conditions actually are, i'd consider those in the west extremely privileged, I moved to the UK and the only difference is that there's a lot more stuff to do in the UK for recreation and to pass time
