- Y'ALL... I know I wasn't expecting something necessarily happy, but BOY with this a heavy one. The entirety of this reaction is just me growing equally confused and depressed... yay! But really, what was I to expect when having Paul and Andrew starring, like, let's be real for a second (thank you for your service kings!) That twist though.... EVIL.
Ps... apologies for the lack of camera quality, I'm traveling and I'm sometimes a victim to bad lighting!

This movie kicked my ass! I saw it because of Paul Mescal in Aftersun (one of my favorite movies of all time). I don't think I've seen a movie in my 46 years where I cried more
Some of the best performances of 2023 are in this film. I don't know how so many awards bodies ignored it over some of the other drivel they gave awards to.
I think this is one of those rare films where it sort of leaves everything up to the viewer's own interpretation. Different people are going to have different ideas on what is really happening based on their own personal experiences. And no one is necessarily wrong in how they see things... that's true ART right there.
For me, what stands out is the idea that Harry and Adam were destined for each other - hence the song at the end 'The Power of Love' playing... which was also playing on the TV, btw when Harry first knocked at his door. Same song. I think it sort of reaffirms that they were maybe soul mates, even if they didn't get together in this life, in the physical world. They still found each other and took care of each other in different ways - the power of love transcends all spaces and time.
I was as confused as you were throughout this film, but its melancholy dreamlike quality overtook me... and the music choices! I so rarely call this kind of thing, but at some point I knew exactly what song would play at the end and over the credits. It maybe helps that I lived those eighties years in the UK, but yeah, this was a heartbreaker of a film.
I really believe the building had tenants. Adam didn't "see" them because he felt alone, isolated, depressed and unable to connect with anyone. He also can be writing his own screenplay, or he can actually see ghosts or he died at the beginning in a fire (hence the alarm part). Adam is, in a certain way, an unreliable narrator. I think this is a masterpiece of a movie.

Hadn't heard of this movie before but its seems good. Big fan of Andrew Scott, he always seems to gives amazing performances! enjoyed the reaction as always
i was confused throughout this whole movie honestly. Every time I thought they were going one way it went another and I was questioning what was real and what wasnt the whole time. either way I bawled my eyes out at the end for like 10 mins.... im heartbroken

As someone who maladaptive daydreams...this movie gave me massive maladaptive daydreaming vibes.
Adam only sees the people who he’s supposed to let love in for. But also this movie doesn’t work the greatest if you are trying the whole film to understand what’s going on. It’s about what’s happening. Not how it’s happening.
Spot on review.
Anything is REAL if you can feel it.
So, my interpretation was that it all happened in that script in the beginning.
He died in the fire in the beginning. He couldn't move on until he learned how to love.
