Really enjoyed this swatching session! I love my Daler Rowney inks (I have all the ones you swatched and many more!) I am very interested in learning more about the fountain pen inks you used. They were lovely (EVERYTHING was lovely!) Thanks again. I learned a lot. I’m a hobbyist who is just learning to paint with gouache; I have mostly painted with acrylics. Big difference! Have a fabulous week. Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you so much! They are awesome and the colours are fabulous- great mixers too and I even use them to tone down the colours in my acrylic markers (I am a muted colour devotee). Gouache is just awesome. My favourite paint type actually. Layers so beautifully too. see you next week! Deb xx
I'm in the process of creating a "small" mixed media kit I can take places, day trips, holidays or whatever. Small is a relative term but as long as I can fit my sketchbook and everything else into a small messenger bag, and not require the hiring of a mule to carry it, I'll be happy. My bag is just big enough to fit my ipad 11" pro, in it's case, sideways in it, to give you an idea of the size, I don't have full set syndrome but I have collected a lot of art supplies over the last couple of years so it's turning into quite a complicated exercise trying to pare back each type of medium and still have them work well together. So I've been taking inspiration from your fav five series and adapting it to the mediums I have and the colors that suit New Zealand where I live. I really enjoy your videos. ❤
That is so lovely to hear! It is super difficult to pack I find. I will tend to obsess over the one thing that i left out or forgot to pack- amazing how many uses I find for something that I haven't got to hand. I hope that you can avoid 'contracting' full set syndrome. How lovely to be able to sketch New Zealand! Very pretty looking place. Deb xx
Thank you Carla! Isn't it magic! Black and various yellows make some really surprising greens and depending on the yellow (and the black), there are some lovely surprises- but right your recipes down! Nothing worse than getting the perfect green and then forgetting exactly what went into it. Ask me how I know :D. Deb xx
What a lovely selection! It was very interesting to watch, most of the things I never came across, none of them ever tried, so it was very educational as well as lovely to watch! Very curious about liquitex markers now, I 've got some very cheap acrylic mar kers (90 colours for 15 euros, just to give an indication of the level of sophistication I am going for 😂), they turned out to be pretty good to my surprise, but was emediately swiped away by my daughter and I was left with a wistful feeling and no markers whatsoever . Cannot find them anymore in the shop, so I am on a market for some. Fantastic selection of goodies, so many hours of exploration and experimentation foreseeable ahead, lovely! Something tells me, there's going to be " what has happened this time" part 2 😂 and I am here for it! Among other things 😊 It was so lovely to hang out with you again, thank you for the video and have a great weekend and a lovely week ahead!
I am so pleased that you enjoyed it! The Liquitex markers are great for texture- mind you, the cheapies (Amazon) are nothing to scoff at either. I have some really cheap ones and the colours are not fabulous but by and large, they are great. Haha, I did get a laugh about your thief! I am lucky that my son has never displayed even the slightest bit of interest in my art things! Haha absolutely! I have all week to think up an excuse as to why I have tripped and fallen into an art shop AGAIN! Yiou are most welcome my lovely and I look forward to seeing you again next week! Deb xx
Hello, Debbie! Thank you so much for this swatching session❤ That really surprised me that all yellows show as greens on the black paper, I couldn't believe my eyes! 😄 Also I was looking on those unison pastels in our local shop and the colors seem to be so pretty and it was really helpful to know that they work well with water. But I m wondering if it is possible to layer colored pencils on top. Have you ever tried it?
You are most welcome! Isn't it a revelation! So many people swatch onto white paper but the colours can change alarmingly and really let you down. Yes it is very possible to layer coloured pencil on top. I have done it many times and it works brilliantly. You do need to fix the pastel layer though because otherwise it will lift and resist and actually damage things like fine liners. Deb xx
Thank you so much and thank you for the tip- good to know and I shall have a look for them. There are a few things that are easiest to find in the Netherlands actually. One more for the list! Deb xx
Ive just discovered some supplies i now cannot live without lol! The Jaques Herbin inks... what is the lovely golden color? Thats the one i desperately need!
Oh gosh I am so sorry....well sort of :D. That gold is the most amazing colour. I have used it at least once a day. The good thing is that they do a small bottle quite cheaply (about 2.50€ here in Germany) so you can sort of have your cake and eat it too. D xx
Beautiful haul, I had no idea Herbin makes pigment inks! Can’t seem to find them anywhere, could you please share the name of the shop where you found them?
Thank you! I bought mine in a German art shop called Gerstaeker.de. I believe that they are also pretty easy to find in the Uk. Jacksons ship everywhere. Hope that helps!

The ... "Right, what happened this time is....." has me in stitches 😂
Haha- I am so pleased that I made you smile today. There is always an excuse for this sort of thing 🤣🤣🤣
I love your work and watched until the end😊 It would be so helpful if you listed the colors of those beautiful inks or wrote them beside each color.
this is really satisfying, watched and enjoyed till the end ☺☺
Thank you so very much Chantelle! That is so lovely to hear and I am so pleased that you are enjoying the content. Deb xx

Thank you so much and thank you for the tip- good to know and I shall have a look for them. There are a few things that are easiest to find in the Netherlands actually. One more for the list! Deb xx
I have the pack of liquid earth and used all 3 colours to paint a mushroom
That would be a brilliant use for them actually! I haven't got around to using mine yet. You will be the first to know! Deb xx
