- I'm getting bored around the house, so lately I've been dusting off all my old games and decided to record and post some of them up. So here is "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith". In my opinion, one of the best "Star Wars" games ever made.
I like how Obi-Wan's attitude is 100x more believable in this game than in the movie where he's just like, "eh, let's kill him"

Ehh I really think you need to look at the face he makes. He tries to talk to anakin even betraying the jedi in him by trying to free someone he loves from the dark side. But the look he gives anakin after all he said is just pure disgust.

He was blinded with his light side faith, and didnt even ask him what was going on, why did you do that etc. He could have said that "you are my brother anakin please dont try it". Even though this game is two gaming generations old, it still has one of the most fluid Lightsaber combat systems I have ever seen in a Star Wars game.
Look up: Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy. That game probably has the best lightsaber combat in any Star Wars game

Definitely the best Lightsaber combat of any Star Wars Game (except maybe TFU2 on the Wii) although the rest of the game left a lot to be desired.

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy hands down is the best combat , you guys are high if you think otherwise
Being completely honest, I really like the new dialogue here that shows more of Obi-wan trying to reason with Anakin. Some of them would have really given more wallop to the emotion of the scene in the movie.

The dialogue and vocals are done so well for this duel - both of them old friends, Obi Wan begging, intense appeals, for Anakin to think/stop as a former mentor whilst Anakin's adamant to continue, dismissive in his arrogance. It's far preferable to the silence from the film, in my opinion!
You must agree that Anakin's voice actor here was terrible. It just sounds so half-assed

I'm even in the process of writing a fan rewrite of the entire prequel trilogy - more focused, more fleshed out and more set in the context of the original trilogy. In the Mustafar battle specifically, I would've had Anakin and Obi-Wan argue for a few minutes (a minute or two of that argument being personal), then they fight for several minutes (not as long as the movie version), but let the fight drive the emotions.
There's a paragraph in the ROTS novel that sets the standards for the Anakin-Obi-Wan battle. It was along the lines of: "This was not Sith against Jedi. Not light against dark. This has nothing to do with philosophy, duty, religion or morals. It was Anakin and Obi-Wan...personally...and the damage they had done to each other."
+Superbarrymore I hated that about the movie. He was like, welp anakin is evil time to fucking kill him. He didn't even really try to talk to him until he was all chopped up and on fire. *sigh*
In fairness he did see anakin's child murder victims rather recently

+Superbarrymore In the movie, Obi-Wan was concentrating on holding off a pissed off 'Chosen One' rather than trying to appeal to him. He needed to focus. Obi-Wan was more experienced, naturally, but a full blown offensive Vader is BRUTAL and hard to fend off. I doubt Windu could have held him off honestly.
To all the people complaining about this ending: There is something called an ALTERNATE ending! It's what COULD have happened! They added this mission in there after you finished the original ending just so you could see what could have happened.
The Galaxy really is screwed now. Palpatine studied Politics for all of his Life. Vader has no Idea how to Rule an Empire on his own.

This is one of the few movie games that are actually good.
The alternate ending is cool but it doesn't make any sense since Anakin believed he needed Sidious to find out how to keep Padme from dying. Killing him first would just show he now gives zero fucks for her and he just cares about ruling the galaxy, which were never his motives to begin with.

For those who are saying that the Emperor's death is out of the drama well in my point of view it's not.. Actually this was a great ending.. Anakin joined the dark side because of his obsession with Padme and the Emperor told him he could save her and brainwashed him.. So, following the episode III movie plot Padme dies, that's why Anakin kills the Emperor, because he couldn't save her and he discovered his lie.
Fernando Falah Uh yeah but at that moment Padme was still alive so it would stand to reason that Anakin would still be seeking a way to save Padme and therefore wouldn't kill Palpatine. I mean when alls said and done the prequels butchered the narrative beyond repair any damn way so it really doesn't matter.

This is actually a really good Star Wars game. I'd put it just below the Jedi Knight games
These voice actors really had me fooled into thinking the actual actors voiced their characters, so I was kinda disappointed when I saw that wasn't so in the credits

There is actually something this fight got hella right that a lot of people don't seem to realise or appreciate.
Anakin activated his lightsaber first here! NOT Obi-Wan.
If you watch in the original trilogy, the one who activates their lightsaber first is always in the wrong.
Sith go for the attack, whist Jedi believe only in self-defence.
It also makes sense in terms of their characters, because at no point does Obi-Wan give the impression that he wants to kill Anakin, whereas Anakin wants him dead!

Normally when you make a Video Game knock off of a movie, it tends to be cringingly awful and painful to see, both gameplay wise and acting.

I loved the versus mode on this game. If only there was a a modern star wars fighting game, similar to Soulcalibur. Get most of the saga's main characters (plus a few EU characters, like Starkiller, Kyle Katarn, Jacen Solo/Darth Cadeus, Revan/Darth Revan, Cade Skywalker and a few others) and pit against them each other. The closet we got to an SW fighting game was Masters of Teras Kasi, and that was awful, even back in the day.
Yeah I remember general grievous being super fun and kinda OP but it was just awesome to play it. I wish newer games had the same level of fun as the older games like this :|

+Commander Cody Not really. In the original films, Vader always said that he and Luke could overthrow Palpatine. Further mentioned in the expanded universe (KOTOR I to be exact) if Revan goes back to the light (and stays there) and fights Bastila the second time, she mentions the Sith have a tradition of fighting each other to the death, viewing it as a way of true overthrowing of their masters (or something like that).

And if they left Anakin on Tatooine then Palpatine would sense a distrubance in the force then he would personally find Anakin and train him and if Anakin is in his in full potential the Jedi order would be completely wiped out because without the limited teachings of the Jedi and experiencing the Darkside earlier would make Anakin unstoppable not even Obi Wan would match Anakin if they did not find him on tatooine

I remember playing this on my PS2 and it took me like a week to get through the alternative ending after I unlocked it
I notice after watching this and reflecting on the scene in the film, something interesting. In the film Obi-Wan cuts Anakin in half with his lightsabre and lets him burn. In this alternate version Anakin merely stabs Obi-Wan and kicks his corpse to the exact same spot where Anakin caught fire in the film. I honestly believe Anakin was more merciful to Obi-Wan in this alternative scenario compared to the film where Obi-Wan not only brutally sliced him in half but actually let his whole body burn. Surely Obi-Wan could have been compassionate enough to sense Anakin would catch fire and at least move Anakin away from the edge of the rock surface. Am I the only one who think this?

Best Lightsabers combat in any game I've played. This is why episode 3 remains my favorite episode. This game deserves a remaster with extra content.

Ahh, I remember when this game came out! I played it all the time on the PS2! I don't think I ever beat it, though. I just skipped to the end. I remember having the hardest time fighting Mace Windu and some Jedi after him.

You haven't learned the counter/side-step dodge? It brings such a needed elegance to the games' duels! Especially when you do it, then the computer does it, and on and on. It looks awesome!

I actually just had a flashback moment where I thought about beating this game when I was way younger and being around that I beat it. It was a lot of effort at the time and I was only 11.

Man I used to be unreal at this... I knew all the secret moves, such as...
A: Jumping backwards and following the landing with an attack (does a backslash)
B: Hold block and twirl the... right analog stick? (block-breaking spin move)
C: Block a saber attack with your analog stick away from the opponent (that shunt move no one could ever figure out)

So, here's an interesting thing:
Anakin is the greatest Jedi Killer of all time, and was trained by Qui-Gon, who was considered a "Grey Jedi" and trained Xanatos, who eventually fell to the dark side. Qui-Gon was trained by Dooku, and Dooku? He was trained by Yoda.

That sould be the beginning of Revenge of the Sith Infinities.
The game lets you play different characters so it has different outcomes. If you play as Obi-Wan you get the original ending, but this guy played as Anakin, hence this ending. It's actually quite cool, because it shows what could have happened if things had gone different in the movie.
This was a special mission that you unlock after you complete the regular mission playing as Obi-Wan. It's non-cannon, but would love to see more of this timeline!! A non-mechanical Emperor Darth Vader!! Similar to The Force Unleashed DLC's.
Great story worth every penny I paid for it. I just wish they made a sequel I would buy it in a heartbeat.
This was a PS2 game, right? I remember owning this and playing the VS mode with my brother all the time... Don't think I actually finished the campaign though :P
It sounds like that's Mat Lucas voicing Anakin (he also voiced him in Tartakovsky's 2003 Clone Wars series, my personal favourite SW series) and Mat Lucas was always my personal favourite Anakin

There are two versions of this level. The Obi-Wan version has the movie ending, while the Anakin version has this alternate ending
this is the ending we were all expecting but if that happened we might have some continuity issues
Loved this game as a kid, still do. Pity they didn't release it for the PC - I had it for Ps2.
Because lightsiders got mind trick while darksiders got lightning. It's more of a gameplay feature then the person's true skill set. That said, they did an incredible job with applying the 7 arts of lightsaber combat in this game.
When Obi-Wan said "I wasn't prepared to train someone like you" to Anakin I don't think it's the first time a Jedi's made a mistake like that.
When you think about it, Qui-gon made Obi-wan promise to train Anakin so in a way Obi-wan never actually wanted to train him.
Most people would probably disagree with me (In a way I CAN understand why) but according to me, this game was before it's time. I mean, it was released in 2005 -that's more than 7 years ago! I loved the dueling system and the alternative ending. Anoter good part was that the game let play some things that went unseen in the movie. Like Vader's raid on the Jedi temple with the 501'st for example. Really good game - If it was released for PC in these days (not likely at all) I would buy it! :D
