    A good pair of noise cancelling headphones can go along way for those of us who practice way into morning hours. It really helps improve sound quality for that kind of scenario.

    • @SaltyMaud
      @SaltyMaud 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Noise cancelling headphones keep the noise out, not in. They have the benefit of being closed back and generally have decent passive isolation so it's not that they'd work any worse than any other random closed back headphone though.

    • @GW2_Live
      @GW2_Live 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@SaltyMaud I sometimes practice in my "office" but i have 3 servers in there, they sound vaguely like dull jet engine, so noise cancelling may be of use for me, but i can think of very few other situations where noise canceling would help. Noise cancelling doesn't do a good job of eliminiating anything but constant noises.

    For quiet practise (in a slightly more expensive setup), I run my guitar into my Vox VT40+, then I use a 1/4inch to 3.25mm jack to go from the headphone out port into my interface. I turn on direct monitor and I can still listen to my music through my headphones and hear my amped tone with no latency without annoying anyone else.

    • @motionless_horizon

      Does this allow you to just run guitar to interface, then to headphones? Or do you need to use your laptop and a DAW program?

    If you have an effects loop on your “loud” amp, you can simply use a volume pedal or eq (as long as it has volume control) to bring the volume down without killing your tone.

    At 2:52, he actually should have said to take the OUTPUT (not the “input”) from the phone (i.e., the phone’s headphone jack). The Fender or Squier 10G Frontman Amp (and many other amps) can do the same thing - optional headphone listening, and auxiliary music input - plugged into AC without needing 6 AA batteries (10G costs $80 on sale, $100 normally). Of course, the 10G is much larger and heavier (hence, not nearly as portable at 8.5 lbs.), with a 6” speaker, and with 10 watts (vs. 3 watts) of power. No delay effect on 10G, however, which Blackstar Fly 3 apparently has.

    Hey Marty I love the videos first off. I was wandering, because I'm really bored lately and want to learn a new technique, if you would start a series of advanced guitar techniques. For example sweep picking. It's challenging and will keep many of your viewers busy learning great and useful techniques.

    Brilliant! I have the Fly 3 with extension cabinet. One thing I have noticed is that the Fly does NOT like lithium batteries. AA alkaline work best. rehargeables work ok. You can also get an external power feed. To get really quiet though, I use a Joyo I plug. it's smaller than a pack of smokes and can clip on your belt!

    Thank you Marty. Because of your Behringer TO800 pedal review, I got one. Sounds great thru both my Vox & Fender amps. $29.00 Can. a real bargain. More such inexpensive gear reviews please. You're helping me stay thrifty. :)

    My problem is I always shred the crap out of my fingers whenever I play acoustic, I’ve been playing for a little over a year but I tear through the calluses. Any tips? Love your vids Marty, this channel is mostly where I’ve learned guitar and its definitely my favorite activity.
