I was in extreme jaw pain and so swollen this week due to my wisdom teeth deciding it’s time to make their appearance and shift their way down 😭 so I apologize for the lack of videos this week! I’m hoping the pain goes away soon or ...I get my wisdom teeth removed 😩😳🤪

Loved your reaction. Awakening is the first song from their 2017 concept album "Apex". It tells the story of a being called "The Immortal" who has been cursed to sleep for thousands of years in the hollow of a mountain until someone summons him. He then must do the bidding of the person who awakens him. In Apex, he is summoned by an evil woman called "The Matriarch" Thats all I will tell you. Apex is one of the best albums I have heard in the last 15 years or so. My favorites from that album are "Shadow Guide" "Cleanse the bloodlines" "Earth to ashes," "Call me Immortal" and the final track "Apex." Their new album, "Abyss" continues the story and brings it to its conclusion. If anything, "Abyss" might be better than "Apex" and that is saying a lot. Keep on rocking, Tia. Yes, Britney slays! (Her last name Hayes is thus changed to Slayes by most fans - fooled me until today!) She also has her own channel, and occasionally does video colabs with reactors like you! The whole band gets me pumped, and as you basically said, this is called power metal.
As for who the new master is, I'm not qualified to say, but I hear that the whole album is composed as a story.

That "New Master" is The Matriarch. The antagonist of the story that runs through the Apex and Abyss albums.

Can't believe I don't want to give spoilers about an album. But my recommendation to all you guys would be to listen to Apex and Abyss back to back with the lyrics. Some next level story telling stuff will blow your minds for real real lmao

Unleash the Archers is awesome! Brittney Slayes is a beast of a vocalist. Power metal is always so upbeat and fun. This song is the very first one on their album, Apex, which released in 2017. The entire album tells the story of the Immortal and him being awakened by the Matriarch to do her bidding. The Immortal is cursed to do the bidding of whomever awakens him and the Matriarch wants him to murder her four sons so she can use their blood in a ritual to gain immortality and ultimate power. The band's new album, Abyss, came out a bit over a week ago and it is the sequel to Apex and continues the story of the Matriarch and the Immortal. I'd recommend listening to the songs in order on both albums if you want to understand the story. Thanks!

Legend has it that Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio conjured a daughter of Metal. They bestowed upon her the name of Brittney Slayes, and that is what she does.
Awakening is the first song on Apex, a concept album in which The Immortal awakens. He cannot be defeated in battle, but a curse of his birth requires him to perform a task for whoever awakens him (his new Master), which has historically usually been something bad. Later in the album you will find out that his Master is The Matriarch, the big bad who tasks him with finding and retrieving her four sons so she can perform a ritual to attain immortality. By the end of the album, she succeeds and he goes back to sleep in his mountain, Apex.
Then, it's out of Apex and into the Abyss, the sequel album which takes place 50 years later in space.

There is an overarching story that goes through both albums. It only enhances the music. I’m glad to see someone *besides* me recommending General of the Dark Army! Sure, I have only dipped my pinkie toe in their discography, but I have that, Wind That Shapes the Land, & Abyss memorized & inadequately sing them in my car every day (unless it’s more of a Be’lakor day, but I haven’t learned to growl, so I have to restrain my urge to ‘sing’ along which sucks, so Britney is the better choice! 😅 Tho I cringe every time I even *think* of trying to hit that last note of ‘Immortal is more than a name’ 😱) IDK why that song does not get the love that I think it deserves. 🤷♀️ Even the video is good.

This is definitely a good wake up song. You should check out some Car Bomb. Maybe a couple songs they are pretty short, but imo all of their stuff is good. Some favorites are Cielo Drive, Cellophane Stiletto, or Magic Bullet.

I don't listen to power metal much but this is the only power metal band that I like. For his scream it is pretty good but the mix is a little weird so I didn't really hear it that well(I looked up a live version after watching this just so I can hear a different mix). But, I can tell you that it is a fry scream. The first short scream that he had done might have been a false cord scream though(It sounded like false cord but since it was so short it was hard to tell). To me it sounds like his distortion is a bit high. But, it is pretty good despite that. Now, as for Brittney Slayes, she is an amazing vocalist. She has actually been featured on a tack by a band that is a completely different sub-genre than power metal. The song that she is featured in is "For Whom the Banshee Cries" by Sold Soul.
Do you want some suggestions for more power metal bands? I know a bunch of good ones.
@@Bryan-T It's just that power metal is usually too light for my taste and the type of vocal that they do is just not my cup of tea. There's something different about Unleash the Archers that I like. But, even with them the last time I listened to them is when Brittney was featured on that song by Sold Soul.

Brittany Slayes is amazing! I enjoyed her powerful vocals so much! I couldn’t tell too much about the scream! It did seem pretty distorted but it still sounded good with the song to me!!

Technically the first female screamer was Sabina Classen of Holy Moses. But, Angela Gossow was the first female screamer that got really popular and is the first female death metal vocalist.
