The fact that Angel stood up to Val despite being deathly scared of him speaks volumes of his care for all the other residents of the Hotel, especially Charlie.
Angels best moment in the show. So glad that he finally stood up to Val. He actually cares about his friends and is willing to defend them, that’s definitely worthy of redemption.
Huh. It’s interesting that Angel’s contract has terms like that, but I guess it explains why Valentino couldn’t force Angel to move back to the studio, despite how angry he was at Angel moving. It also explains why Angel would have accepted living in the hotel - not only is it rent free (so Val can’t force him back by cutting his pay), but living with the Princess of Hell gives him added protection from Val just storming in and dragging him back by force, regardless of his soul contract terms.
It also means Valentino really depends on Vox and Velvette. Despite his power he's barely functional as a business owner. Not that Vox or Velvette are morally upstanding either but they're functional as CEO and fashionista respectively by hell's standards. Val made a contract assuming he would have total ownership of Angel, but he easily found out loopholes to at least ease up the situation.
