    How are some people confused about the fact that this is a sport ? Did you even watch the video ? This is a very technical, tactical and physical sport. I would much rather be confused about chess being a sport. That's more like a mind game.

    people who say handball is easy clearly hasnt played it before
    its difficult to generate a speed that is fast enough to bypass the keeper and given this goal is not very big (the keeper width span is enuff to cover the whole goal)
    also considering you have to cut pass 6 outfield players, you have to think on how to wave or move the defence to allow a small gap for you or your teammates to break thru and score
    these players are shooting the size 3 ball at over 100km/h, next time you should try that without breaking your arm then maybe you know how difficult this sport is....
    also this is way more fast-paced and entertaining then baseball

    • @astropolis.
      @astropolis. 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      1. Just throw it. Human reflexes cant react that fast.
      2. Clearly you have not seen a good game of basketball.

    • @B2UTYSONE4ever
      @B2UTYSONE4ever 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Christian Gomez sure you can throw it, but if it's too slow the keeper can save it. you haven't played it so clearly you would think it's easy to throw. And you have to learn to create gaps among the defense by using waves like football.
      and I do like basketball? I just said it's more entertaining than baseball.

    • @astropolis.
      @astropolis. 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @japphan
      @japphan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The keeper does not react to the ball being thrown, but places himself according to the body-arm position+movement of the shooter. Thus, keeper has plenty of time to react.
      So, either you have to shoot really hard and precise, or somehow fool the goalkeeper.

    This version of Handball looks like fun. The handball I use to play as a kid is
    different though. There is a wall and players. A person throws the ball
    at the wall. Anyone can try and catch it as it comes back but if you
    miss the catch, you have to run to the wall. As you are running anyone
    can pick up the ball and throw it at you. If you are hit, you are out.
    It is really fun and we played with decent thickness of balls so it can
    sting considering most of us were baseball players lol

    • @bangjangsnipes9891
      @bangjangsnipes9891 8 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      We called that wall ball

    • @SoutheastCartel
      @SoutheastCartel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We called that "red ass" in Toronto. Pretty self explanatory why :P. The version of handball we played was we slap the tennis ball, make it bounce off the ground to hit the wall and next players has to deflect off their hand and then do the same thing over until someone messes up. That person is out and it keeps going "elimination" style. The best move for it was called "the pocket" where u hit the ball and it hits the very corner where the wall and ground meets and it just rolls off the ground making it impossible to make any more moves for the next player so they are pretty much out.

    • @kasF
      @kasF 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We called that "Butts Up" Each time you get hit/the ball hits the wall before you touch it, you get a letter. The first person to spell "Butts Up" has to stand facing the wall and each participant gets to throw the ball at them for a chance to hit them, with the target doing their best to blindly avoid pain.
      Ah, childhood.

    • @jraymond1988
      @jraymond1988 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember the term wall ball and also suicide (which I now know as a specific running drill). The only difference between what I played and what you played as that if you were running to the wall, any other player just had to throw the ball and have it hit the wall before you do (instead of directly hitting the player). Granted, as kids we usually just threw the ball at specific people anyway. Also, if you threw the ball and it bounced before hitting the wall then you were out, and if it bounced and didn't hit the wall, you had to touch the wall before someone hit it with the ball.

    Americans wondering about why this is a sport. Meanwhile in Europe it’s the second most popular sport right after soccer (European football). There are many popular handball teams across Europe and many arenas with more than 20.000 viewers in it every home match. Stop being ridiculous just because you’re American and don’t know a sport. That’s like us Europeans saying „baseball is not a sport“.

  • @StormWind7k
    @StormWind7k 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    3 steps are allowed.
    But when dribbled you can take an infinite amount of steps as long as you dribble.
    After you pick up from the dribble you got another 3 steps and can't dribble again.
    From there you either have to pass or shoot (You've got 3 seconds from that point, if I remember correctly.) :)
    Anything else you'd like to know? There's 6 metres between the goal and the line highlighting the area. Only the goalkeeper is allowed in that area.

    My teacher asking me questions for iceland.. can anyone help??
    What defensive structure are they using? What attacking formations do they use? Who is their best attacking player? Who is their best defensive player?

    • @pelayoalcantara
      @pelayoalcantara 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Best attack player:
      Probably the best player is Aron Palmarsson, being a center back he doesn’t have to score many goals, his main objective is to make sure that his team plays in a smooth way and make sure that the ball flows properly, but apart from doing that he scores 7 goals for the team. This is even more spectacular when you take into account that he was 22 years old. Center backs have to be very intelligent as they are the brain of the team but also have to remain calm at all situations, this is quite impressive for a t 22 years old that plays in a team where the average age was around 30.
      Best defense player:
      Personal favorite: Andreas Jakobsson. He defends in the center of the defense, most of the time even when it’s not his direct responsibility he keeps an eye on the line player (pivot) of the Swedish team. He doesn’t only take care of his own player but helps closing the gaps with the 2 players on his sides when needed. This is the essence of Iceland’s defense. Most of the match he doesn’t really attack and only focuses in the defense. He changes for someone else during the attacks.
      Defense strategy:
      As what happens with many matches, Iceland won this game in the defense. Since the start of the game they have done a 6 - 0 defense. Meaning that the 6 people from the defense are close to the 6m line. Main advantage of this defense is that you annihilate the line player(pivot) of the other team (This is important as Nilsson was one of the best Sweden players). But playing against a team with great shooters like Kim Andersson you need to go up to the 9m line minimum to avoid shooting from long distance. So, they have a very dynamic defense. All players go very high on the player they have to defense when they have the ball and when the attacker releases the ball, the defender goes back to their original position. Most of the time it looks like the are doing a 4-2 defense or even a 3-3 defense due to this dynamism.
      This defense is very hard to keep throughout the whole match but in the late years it’s believed to be the most effective defense with a team as complete as Sweden, that has exceptional players in all positions. Iceland defense is really spectacular in this game.
      Attack Strategy:
      As Sweden has a very open defense (most of the time with Kallman going up), the attack of Iceland has to be very dynamic as well. Lots of crosses and movements of the backs, wings and the lines to make gaps in the defense.
      Many times, to make the most of these gaps (created by having only 5 players in the 6m lines instead of 6), some player go and play as a second line (pivot) player.
      Also crucial for Iceland, having fast players (mostly wing players, like Sigurðsson). That way they can make the most of their strong defense and scoring goals in fastbreaks.
      Of course, I wrote this as someone that knows about handball, I would recommend you rewrite it with the knowledge that your teacher knows you have. Also, after reading this information I really recommend watching the match a look for these things.

  • @abobobini
    @abobobini 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How is this not like any other sport? It has the same appeal and layout. I'm not saying it's not differentiated or similar to every other sport but seriously it's extremely similar to the time span and appeal of other sports. Your comment is futile. No one even asked whether you liked the sport or not. Some things are just better unsaid.
