    Daniel ! You make capitalistic logics obsolete. So many games have been already design and released. I love that you dig into this endless list of already existing games. Thanks you 🙏🏼

    At the time this came out the piece for the Canoness was the closest we got to a new mini for the Sisters of battle range in decades.

    Been playing Talisman since second edition and its one of my all time favorite board games. This has been on my radar for a bit here. Not sure if its still easy too get but it sounds legit good! Thanks for the preview of it!

      Seems to be plenty used ones on the BGG marketplace. Just check the details on them.
      I'm surprised they're so affordable for an out-of-print 40k game. They must've manufactured tons of them.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was also never really popular, so lots of copies stayed on shelves even after FFG and GW split ways.

    • @NefariousKoel
      @NefariousKoel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheDungeonDive - I think the reason extra copies sat on game store shelves was because people just thought it was a straight re-skin of Talisman. I certainly did at first, until investigating a bit more.

    I was lucky enough to get both expansions for this game, also I got all the expansions for Talisman 4th before FFG lost the license, infact I hovered up a lot of Warhammer related games before the Downfall. Blood bowl team manager with all expansions, Spacehulk Death Angel with all expansions. Warhammer Quest, Conquest with everything. All are great games, with excellent art, no other company has done better justice than FFG, such a shame it was short lived.

      Yeah. That was the tail end of the golden age of FFG.

    Nice video ! I like this game !
    I play Relic solo with the Nemesis expansion. One bad guy hunts my character and some NPC hang on the larger ring. This brings some life to the solo game while staying simple to run.
    It's a really nice game but I prefer Rundound 3rd (not exactly the same style, but not so far). If only Runbound 3rd had combat dice, it would be a perfect game.

    • @hariszark7396
      @hariszark7396 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe you can play Runebound 3 with the combat system of Runebound 2....

    I found very cheap second hand Relic base boxes here in France. around 20€ and i will surely give a try, thanks to your video.
    It seems not to be very popular here, in any case neglected for more recent games certainly and it is a chance. Your presentation really made me want to try it. 👌

    • @didierj3836
      @didierj3836 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And one answer could be that not a lot of players knows the solo rules. It's not in the BGG Relic files section but in the "variants" section of the forum

    I've got a very frosty relationship with Talisman--I like it, and I've had fun with it, but it drives me crazy how irritating and cumbersome a lot of the game is. This? Ehh.. I mean, I liked the Horus Heresy-themed Talisman game a lot more than base, but this seems to add even more than that did.. hmm.. if I find a copy for a fair price, maybe I'll give it a go. I have never heard of Relic before this video! Thanks, man; you gave me something to think about!

      What I enjoy about the Talisman games is the pure simplicity - there is nothing to get in the way of me and the adventure that unfolds.

    I know this will sound shallow, but I never got this solely because I hate the character busts. If they had used standees or small minis like Talisman I would have bought it. It sounds really cool though now that I watch your take on it.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also don’t like the busts. Weird choice.

    • @luca3924

      Only Games Workshop have the rights for make legitimate Warhammer minis, so Fantasy Flight opted merely for busts minis

      @stevebillups9238 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes perfect sense - still would have preferred Outer Rim style standees. I may actually have enough 40K models to use the real things for this now that I think about it.

    Talisman is one of the most tedious boardgames I've ever played. Put it up there with 'greats' such as monopoly. Nice artwork though. Not sure this looks any better, even with the additions. Not my kind of thing - I prefer games with a lot more meaningful player decisions that can be taken and strategies that can be deployed rather than just a largely random experience. Nicely done video though Dan, still liked watching it!

      I also wasn't all that enthralled with Talisman, either. Of course, I didn't have childhood nostalgia for it and only (finally) played it as an adult much later. That said, I still own the Relic core box. It's definitely an improvement on the Talisman system but I can't guarantee that would be enough to push it into the 'buy' category for ya.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Talisman is best with house rules, and the simplicity is why it's so good. It's a very basic foundation on which to build on. You can add a lot to talisman for decision making, player agency, and all of those things that modern gamers crave. :) Me, I like to roll dice and see what happens. I'm a simple man. :)

    • @j3errym
      @j3errym 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Rich_H_1972 It is not Talisman. Roll and move but it still has a decision point move right and X encounter, left and Y benefit but which moves you closer to Z or further from A or play a power card instead of rolling to move where you want. The play a not much different to drawing a card with two choices. Player special abilities and cards may modify movement rolls and movement scores or provide alternatives to moving. Relic is the best of Talisman, it is a shame they didn't port some of these mechanics over to it. The character levelling and corruption are also great features.

      I think Relic and that character came out quite a few years before Overwatch.
