You are wrong, this tree withstand in cyclones and in many issues due to it's density of it's leaf and branch structure
Coconut tree structure is broad whereas you said tree is thin
An example if you blow one inch diameter pipe or any thing which is thinner it falls down
But if you bolw an 5 or 10 inch diameter pipe it won't fall but it takes more pressure (air) to fell it down
The science behind this is due to it's surface of the area is thin so the air or wind can't push or pull the tree
