The History of Italy : Every Year

  • This video shows the history of Italy from year 395 until the present day (2019).
    Due to the complexity of the Italian history, the video starts when the Roman Empire gets divided (395).
    The video goes throughout both the Lombard and Norman invasions, as well as the Habsbourg domination and the Italian national struggle to get rid of it, to finally end with the Italian unification and the aftermath (1861).

      @@mat-qh7sf I am a Zoroastrian, Zoroastrianism is the ancient Persians religion. Zoroastrianism is a monotheistic religion. Zoroaster was a great Iranian philosopher and prophet. Zoroaster Prophet taught to the Persians Good Thoughts, Good Speechs and Good Deeds. Zoroaster " There is only one path and that is the path of Truth. Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do, and then all beneficial rewards will come to you also. "
      Zoroastrianism is not only a religion in Iran. The decline in Zoroastrianism in Iran did not destroy Zoroastrianism. We are very patriotic. For us comes first Iran and then religion. Islam simply became a religion for Iranians, nothing more, we place our culture, identity, and history above all.
      Iran maintaining continuity with its Persian heritage. Iranians (every religion that they have) have kept the Persian culture. Iranians speak Persian and Iranians have Persian culture, traditions, costumes, art, music, literature, etc. Iranians still celebrate the ancient Persian festivals/ traditions like Nowruz (the Persian New Year), the Night of Yalda, Charshanbe Suri, Sizde be Dar, etc. Persians are among the most educated people in the world.

      Michael's answer makes no sense, Justinian was thoroughly Roman, so was belisarius, it was part of the state the Roman state

    • @IlleScrutator
      @IlleScrutator 4 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      @@tewkewl After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the Eastern one can already be considered something external to the italian peninsula, roman or not, since it was basically an empire based in a very far away city.
      That empire was surely roman in institutions and legacy, but not ethnically and with Rome (or whatever part of Italy) as it's center, so it's definetly a non-italian state

    • @tewkewl
      @tewkewl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      @@IlleScrutator not true. No one who understands Roman history would be able to say that. The eastern Romans NEVER stopped calling themselves Roman. They were Roman. Their customs and their court language were Latin until the 600s. During the time of the reconquest they were the empire reclaiming their land. It would be like France retaking land the Germans took over after WW2.

    • @IlleScrutator
      @IlleScrutator 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@tewkewl I never said they weren't roman. Since from when Caracalla extended the roman citizenship to all of the empire, "roman" didn't meant anymore "person from Rome" but "person from anywhere in the Roman Empire". But you can't compare that example you made with France with this.
      What happened to France was something that lasted less than 5 years of occupation and war, when Justinian decided to retake Rome 60 years passed from it's fall. And he didn't wanted to take "the ancestral home of it's people" but "the symbol of his empire", "the city that started it all".
      At this point the only roman thing in the east was just the legacy of institutions, of citizenship and, like you said, of a language that already was of the elite, and that in the east would stop be used after just 100 years; even in the west that same Latin was already a language of long gone times, vulgar took it's place some centuries before.
      And, even not considering all of this, the Eastern Roman Empire was still based in a city outside of the italian peninsula, so you can't consider it an integral part of the italian identity, but more like a product of what an empire born in Italy did in another land.
      In all senses I'm not saying that the Eastern Empire is not roman or whatever, just that it's something that, at the time of the gothic wars, was external to the italian peninsula and, as much as I preferred that the author of this video showed the justinian conquests like other ones of later times, I understand his choice of not showing them since they come from external states that are no part of the modern country of Italy, whatever their ancestry and legacy was and is.
      Sorry for the long answer.

      @thelastbulgarian7529 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Rpach3 Yes hopefully im right polish are slavs im not sure about hungarians but french, german, italian and english are not slavs. The english ethnicity for example are white on thier island. well bulgarians are mixed my grandfather is bulgarian and he has an olive tanned skin i think his mother was turkish but he was brought up in a bulgarian community. Ive heard that the bulgarian people came into europe from somewhere what is in a part of russia now. But if an english person married a polish person they would not be pure english for example but then again im not a full bulgarian. For example a person i knew who is italian his father and mother wanted him to marry an another Italian but he married a german but however his sister married an italian. Also i dont think we should mix all the european groups together. europeans should keep what ethnic group they have in todays day and age. I think a high majority should be kept a vast high english ethnic community in england and the same with the polish. I mean if an austrian married an north italian the countries are pretty close so i dont think any one would care but it would be nice/ better to get another in your own ethnic group however if you cant get someone of your own countries ethnicity you can look to a country to another countries border or another country but each europe ethnicity should keep there majority white ethnic group in their country a majority mixed in there own group to keep that racial ethnic group same with italy, france, poland, germany, poland, hungary, greece and other european countries. Im not in any relationship/ girlfriend but this should be the result for the european countries same with dispora and how they will live with other ethnicities in canada, usa, australia, new zealand, brazil etc. Other nations have there groups for example have racial majority. In order not to be demographically replace groups and keep them living.

      Per quanto riguarda gli Aragonesi a Napoli, è vero che Alfonso V d'Aragona conquistò il Regno da Renato d'Angiò, unendolo ai propri domìni (Aragona, Catalogna, Baleari, Sardegna, Sicilia), ma di fatto si trasferì nella città partenopea e lì rimase per gran parte della sua vita. Alla sua morte, non avendo figli legittimi, dovette lasciare i suoi possedimenti al fratello Giovanni, tranne Napoli, che diede al proprio figlio naturale, Ferrante. In questo modo, dopo la morte di Alfonso, la dinastia Aragonese dei Trastámara si divise in due rami distinti. Il Regno di Napoli, quindi, tornò ad essere uno stato indipendente. Il fatto che Napoli, in quegli anni, fosse governata da un re aragonese non lo rende un regno in mano agli spagnoli, perché i due rami della dinastia non andavano spesso d'accordo, agendo entrambi nei propri interessi. Del resto è stato proprio il re d'Aragona Ferdinando II a spodestare il suo cugino napoletano Federico I nel 1502, dando così inizio alla definitiva dominazione spagnola sul Sud Italia (che durerà fino all'inizio del Settecento)

      Similar to Denmark, that only accepted North Schleswig after WWI and only after a referendum, and not all of Schleswig and Holstein. Hitler never incorporated any part of Denmark into Greater Germany. And similar to Slovakia, that was offered Zakopane by Hitler but only accepted the tiny Arva and Zips border regions. Compare that with Saxony, that had to cede 50% of its territory to Prussia as punishment for cooperating with Napoleon. Still to this day many Germans are ridiculing the Saxon accent because of that.
