@@IlleScrutator not true. No one who understands Roman history would be able to say that. The eastern Romans NEVER stopped calling themselves Roman. They were Roman. @@tewkewl I never said they weren't roman. Since from when Caracalla extended the roman citizenship to all of the empire, "roman" didn't meant anymore "person from Rome" but "person from anywhere in the Roman Empire". But you can't compare that example you made with France with this. What happened to France was something that lasted less than 5 years of occupation and war, when Justinian decided to retake Rome 60 years passed from it's fall. And he didn't wanted to take "the ancestral home of it's people" but "the symbol of his empire", "the city that started it all". At this point the only roman thing in the east was just the legacy of institutions, of citizenship and, like you said, of a language that already was of the elite, and that in the east would stop be used after just 100 years; even in the west that same Latin was already a language of long gone times, vulgar took it's place some centuries before. And, even not considering all of this, the Eastern Roman Empire was still based in a city outside of the italian peninsula, so you can't consider it an integral part of the italian identity, but more like a product of what an empire born in Italy did in another land. In all senses I'm not saying that the Eastern Empire is not roman or whatever, just that it's something that, at the time of the gothic wars, was external to the italian peninsula and, as much as I preferred that the author of this video showed the justinian conquests like other ones of later times, I understand his choice of not showing them since they come from external states that are no part of the modern country of Italy, whatever their ancestry and legacy was and is. @Sberleffoulchis I don´t think so, however, it is like being angry with all the actual italians due to the fact that you are destroying Italy with your shits. I will say more, it makes more sense to be angry with the italians that lives nowadays that with the spanish that lived 300 years ago in the italian peninsula.

italy for italians, france for french, germany for germans, poland for the polish, hungary for hungarians and england for the english and the same for other european countries. ^-^
@Rpach3 Yes hopefully im right polish are slavs im not sure about hungarians but french, german, italian and english are not slavs. The english ethnicity for example are white on thier island. well bulgarians are mixed my grandfather is bulgarian and he has an olive tanned skin i think his mother was turkish but he was brought up in a bulgarian community. Ive heard that the bulgarian people came into europe from somewhere what is in a part of russia now. But if an english person married a polish person they would not be pure english for example but then again im not a full bulgarian. For example a person i knew who is italian his father and mother wanted him to marry an another Italian but he married a german but however his sister married an italian. Also i dont think we should mix all the european groups together. europeans should keep what ethnic group they have in todays day and age. I think a high majority should be kept a vast high english ethnic community in england and the same with the polish. I mean if an austrian married an north italian the countries are pretty close so i dont think any one would care but it would be nice/ better to get another in your own ethnic group however if you cant get someone of your own countries ethnicity you can look to a country to another countries border or another country but each europe ethnicity should keep there majority white ethnic group in their country a majority mixed in there own group to keep that racial ethnic group same with italy, france, poland, germany, poland, hungary, greece and other european countries. Im not in any relationship/ girlfriend but this should be the result for the european countries same with dispora and how they will live with other ethnicities in canada, usa, australia, new zealand, brazil etc. Other nations have there groups for example have racial majority. In order not to be demographically replace groups and keep them living.
We often ignore this fact but Napoleon wanted give an important territory to St Marino (in the eastern part of the peninsula between France, Italy and Naples) because he admired a small nation who never in its history was invaded.
Similar to Denmark, that only accepted North Schleswig after WWI and only after a referendum, and not all of Schleswig and Holstein. Hitler never incorporated any part of Denmark into Greater Germany. And similar to Slovakia, that was offered Zakopane by Hitler but only accepted the tiny Arva and Zips border regions. Compare that with Saxony, that had to cede 50% of its territory to Prussia as punishment for cooperating with Napoleon. Still to this day many Germans are ridiculing the Saxon accent because of that.

@Michele La Mura Good :) I've seen a lot of Italians say they don't like France, I didn't know why, and an Italian said this " It’s not that we “hate” each other, it’s more like a rivalry, a historical soccer rivalry, but also because we’re similar in many things: good food, good wine, style and fashion, beautiful cities, architecture, art (even if the world knows that Italy is better in all of these things )... but the biggest problem is that italians are unable to accept that France have our Monnalisa. I think that the truth is that we admire each other, but we’re both too proud to say it. " :)
Great job! This video must have taken a lot of work. Only suggestion: it seemed a tad misleading to not see the Roman Empire's reconquest of Italy during the Gothic Wars. It suggested that the Roman Empire never included Italy or parts of Italy after the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476. Other than that, excellent stuff. This is the best timelapse of Italian history on TH-cam.

I think you've made a mistake with Nice and Monaco. I'm from Nice and Nice is definitely West of Monaco, however in your video, Monaco is at the border of the Kingdom of Sardinia as if Nice was already annexed by France, which wasn't the case until 1860 and the Treaty of Turin. So your county of Nice should be extended Westward. (or maybe you just didn't position Monaco properly but looking at maps, it doesn't seem to be the case)

@@boratsagdiyev9829 it was a sovereign kingdom from it's creation to its annexion by France. Before that, the aragonese were ALSO kings of Naples, they didn't just add it to their kingdom. Also, Sicily was in the same case for most of its History so I don't see the interest

Excellent video, though Venice probably shouldn't be shown as independent from the Byzantine Empire until 726, when Duke Orso Ipato was elected by Venetian rebels, and Emperor Leo III agreed to give the Venetians more autonomy. Even after 726, the Venetians were not technically independent from the Byzantines, but only at that point could the Venetians be regarded as functioning more or less independently from the Byzantine Empire. Also, it is unlikely that any previous Doges mentioned in Venetian historiography actually existed as leaders of Venice. Paolo Anafesto, for instance, may have been the Exarch of Ravenna, or he may not have existed at all, but he probably wasn't a Doge of Venice. Overall, great stuff. This is my favourite timelapse video of Italian history. Keep up the good work!
I don't understand why you used different colors for Sicily (blue) and Milan, Naples and Sardinia (red) during the Hispanic Monarchy, if the ruler was the same. It would be confusing for people who doesn't know Spanish or Italian history, or they could even think those where actually separated regions, which they weren't. Anyway, thanks for the hard work!
Good reconstruction. In my opinion, you should point out Tuscany or Milan rulers (it was a very important state) and then add Savoy (it became involved in italian affairs only in 16th century).

I don´t think so, however, it is like being angry with all the actual italians due to the fact that you are destroying Italy with your shits. I will say more, it makes more sense to be angry with the italians that lives nowadays that with the spanish that lived 300 years ago in the italian peninsula.

italy for italians, france for french, germany for germans, poland for the polish, hungary for hungarians and england for the english and the same for other european countries. ^-^
the last bulgarian yes bro

They refused, because they knew that if Napoleon loses, San Marino would be seen as collaborator

Too bad that you didn't shown Firenze, Milano and Napoli heads of state, they're more important for most of Italy's History than Savoy and Sicily
