I watched the show as a kid in Puerto Rico in Spanish it was called Viaje al Fondo Del Mar, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea , this model looks amazing.
Back in the mid eighties, I built a one tenth scale WWII PT boat. It was 8 feet long. I made a simple kit that any modeler could build it ready to run gasoline powered on any water surface. The hull, deck, cabins were all fiberglass. On the deck were areas where small eighth inch holes to be drilled all the way through to glue in perfect places the deck parts. I actually made a giant kit that had all the parts made to simply glue in place. Painting the boat was easy. I sold 84 of these 8 foot long kits all over the world. I can still produce them today if only I get enough orders! My company name was MODEL MARINE CLASSICS.
You know, the nautilus is a real sub. I had the pleasure of testing the lift systems. It's a 2 man, twin screw, prone position sub that will do 20+ knots.
Hola, eres una persona genial, con un amplio sentido de belleza en el Diseño , las reproducciones son muy bellas ,gracias felicidades. - Hello, you are a great person, with a broad sense of beauty in Design, the reproductions are very beautiful, thank you, congratulations.
Nice job on the sea view and I seen the mini sub as well ! Voyager to the bottom of the sea was a f…in cool show, the concept seemed ahead of its time for back in the day……… it would be cool if they brought the show back again! It was my underwater Star Trek 😂 lol .
No. Cameras in subs are overrated. Unless you're in a pool (and this boat is waaay to big for that), you won't see anything interesting other than murky water. If the owner wishes to mount a camera in there instead of the highly detailed control room, it would be an exceptionally easy thing to do.
Great work getting that brass keel faired in and getting the trim managed. I just wanted to pass on that the 8 window Seaview used in the film and for season 1 was Grey with a white bottom, the 4 window Seaview used in seasons 2 thru 4 was Grey with white bottom but,the hatches on the sail and deck were a noticeable darker Grey .also, the sides of the deck where the limber holes had a darker Grey stripe on each side and the sail planes had a dark Grey stripe to represent I think an anti skid strip so they could be walked upon if the boat was surfaced and crew used the hatches above the dive planes.I am looking forward to following your further endeavors
Interesting! Do you know of any reference photos that depict the details you're referring to? I'll be moving on to paint next week and would love to 'get it right'.
On the cult tv man site there are some nice photos in an article by Gary Kerr entitled what color is the seaview.also if you can find articles written by Paul Lubliner. also if you have access to the voyage to the bottom of the sea. Dvd sets season 2volume one has a lot of special effects outages ,many of which feature unused shots of the seaview both surfaced and underwater.the 8 window seaview used in the film and season 1also looked much darker than the 4 window refit version that carried the flying sub. one other knowledgeable person would be David Merrimac, who also builds Seaview and rc subs.I hope you are able to find something here useful and I am looking forward to the projects moving forward
Have read somewhere that the hull will have a tendency to nosedive due to the shape, watch out for that. would be interested to know just how fast in scale knots she will go. Have fun.
Hi Bob great build blog, the challenges of a square ballast tank wow - you over came! The small Flying sub you are RC'ing for the 80" and the super large flying sub on the work bench are both the 3D STL file you sell on your web site? Or were they changed? Thanks Darren 👍👍👍
The large Flying Sub I'm working on now was scratch built years ago by Arkmodel if I understand the story correctly. The small version is printed from the files I offer on my site.
I watched your video featuring the larger version of the Flying Sub before seeing this video. I think that you will have even more headaches reproducing this smaller version of the Flying Sub for this scale than you had with the larger scaled Flying Sub. That's even considering that this smaller version has fewer working options. I am a Production Designer for Film & TV. My experiences designing for the Hollywood world have given me a real appreciation of the challenges you face recapturing the Seaview in any operating scale size. While real life submarine designers take years to design their real life subs, TV and film designers are constant slaves to a speeded up time crunch. I suspect the Seaview designers had less than a month to come up with a sub design that would imitate real submarine designs, while still make it excitingly different for entertainment purposes. I suspect that those dramatic realities took precedence over any reality based undersea aquatic considerations when they designed the Seaview. I think that is one of the major reasons you are having difficulties with this build. Please don't despair. Please keep up your work.Your talents are amazing, and your efforts are really appreciated. It is truly marvelous to watch your videos and how stunning those efforts are. It is really magical.

yup same in DR and it was a Saturday afternoon classic for us during the 80's

All your hard work made a boat to be proud of.
Amazing job and, yes, subscribing right now ! Greetings from Brazil. In Portuguese the show´s name is : Viagem ao Fundo do Mar.
Fantastic! The Seaview formed a big (+ happy!) part of my childhood… still love the show + everything to do with it. Good job sir
Still love that boat. Interiors never made sense but that's an Irwin Allen show for you. Beautiful job!
Impressive build ! The Seaview was my inspiration to join the Navy and volunteer for sub duty. Retired as a MT1(ss)
Cor, like your test pool. Even a sub pen at the end. Marvelous !. Thanks guys. Dave 😊😊
That's awesome, Love the Seaview, great design.
Efrem zimbalist Junior and David hedison would be proud! Neat build!!!!

One of the great science fiction ships. (I know it is designated a boat.) I also loved the flying sub. ❤

Super! Danke!😍🤗
Incrível meus parabéns, boas lembranças
This was the only episode I have seen. Did you put a camera in the bow so it's like your looking out of the Seaview?

The only difference between Men and Boys, are the price of their toys. That being said, pretty cool and an awesome achievement.

Does this model have actual windows on the bow or is it open to water. Seems strange for those openings to be open.
We are still in the trimming phase. Once that is locked in and the boat is painted, THEN you install the windows.
Right On
How about a gyroscope? 😊😊😊
Hi Bob! When you moving back to Fla?
Why would I move back to Florida!!??
@@RCSubGuy because you miss all the old people
The traffic…..the long waits at restaurants……
Rubbing alcohol can help remove supper glue and many others. Just needs some time to soak in.
When's the movie coming out?
Seaview the next generation.
Is the sound of gunshots in the background?
Well yeah.. this is Texas after all! Actually, it's probably the cars from the road behind my house. Redneck yokels with big trucks and small d!@ks
