Thanks for the review! I really didn't expect such a bad performance from the 35mm 1.4. I sold the 35mm 1.8 S because of not very nice stars in the edges, and the 1.4 is a real tragedy.
Thanks Z J. I have the 35mm f1.8 S and am really happy with it for all round work. It has almost replaced my 24-120 f4. I do feel the S lenses are worth the extra after a disappointing experience with a non S. A lens generally outlasts the body which helps. BTW using Z6II. Cheers from Australia.
You're welcome! Yeah the 1.8 performs much better for sure. I was hoping the 1.4 would be good as well, but those corner and edge issues kind of ruin it for me
I don't think there is a best. Every camera has tradeoffs and pros/cons. I currently have the Nikon Z7II and Z6III. Those cameras work for me and I love shooting them both, but I wouldn't say either one is the best among all cameras

My pleasure! Yeah I had high hopes for the 1.4, but it just doesn't perform that great unfortunately.
This f1.4 lens is not for Astro. Is a lens for other types of photografy. Is a lens with caracter, with a beautiful bokeh.
It's so annoying they released a worse lens after so much time, but sure it's meant for portrait "character" apparently and is the same price!

re wings, it's 'coma' :)
Coma looks more like little comets or cones. The wings looking aberration is a form of astigmatism… at least that’s how I understand it
