Great comparison video! I have been searching for one of these types of generators for a few weeks and it can be a daunting task. Looks like I’m going to the one I was considering first, the Predator 5000! It runs more quiet and it can really handle the Load. I will let Harbor Freight know that you convinced me to pick their generator!!! Thanks for taking the time to do this demonstration and I also appreciate the feedback from your other subscribers as well!!!!
Great content man. I got the predator based on your reviews. The jet kits for high altitude was a big point for me. I live at 4700 feet and camp close to 9000 above sea level.
@SlowJamminJames it has 150 hours on it, mostly from high altitude camping trips at 9500 feet. Also for one power outage in a winter blizzard at home. It has been excellent so far. Just some oil changes and fuel
Nice test. Will these gens run at the maximum for an extended time period? It’s hard to hear you sometimes when you are close to the load. Great content.
I used to use a noise reduction mic that fix that problem but everyone said they couldn’t hear the generator so I switched microphones so they can hear the generator better now they can’t hear me.😅
I have a couple questions- 1. Isn't that a 15a adapter plug coming off of your TT-30P adapter? 2. You were able to run the rated watts of each generator, all of which ran over 30a, without popping the 30a breaker. How does the breaker not pop at 30a?
A 30-amp breaker should theoretically be able to handle up to 30 amps. However, in practice, there are many factors that can affect a breaker's function It should hold at 30 amps, but there is a 15% give or take to any breaker. However even at 32 amps it may not trip right away, until it over heats (thermal) and eventually trips. There are also many factors to deal with like voltage drop that will increase current, and how long it runs at maximum current.
Is two predator 5000 in parallel on propane better to run for whole house vs 1 Genmax 9000ied ? I have a 30amp transfer switch on house . Any advice which way to go ?
When it comes to breaking in your Generator, I believe it’s best to just run it at 25% or less change the oil then like you said, just use it like you plan to use it without stressing it out for the first couple days.
Watching your test I see that you come out of the TT30 amp plug and then convert to an Edison, but cant tell if the cable is 12 gauge or 10 gauge. in either case the generators seems to be able to put out the advertised amps . I have the Champion generator with only 66 hours total on it in 2 years and i only run it on propane so my max output will be lower of course but with propane you never worry about old fuel gumming up the carb.
Yeah, by running it on propane, you do have a slight loss of power, but you never have to worry about gumming up the carburetor. I agree with you. Simple and easy to store with propane
Did you try the igen 4500 fuel shutoff from switching to propane to see if it drains the bowl? What is the actual difference between the igen and cummins?
Champion is loud. I had a guy bring one out to RV park as a rental and he was told, to keep it. it was too loud. I have the 3500 and 5000 predator and the 5000 is quieter than the 3500
It sure looked like the Cummins/Onan was having some kind of a problem, and you didn't show very much of its test!!! Kinda like.... Aaaand here's the Cummins... Moving along!
Dang you might be right. But did you see the voltage drop on the Onan. If he went any faster on the draw it would have dropped a ton. Like starting and A/C unit. I gotta go back and check out the older videos
yup your correct it was the BandS generator. Well I own the Westinghouse 4500 DFC and it seems everyone hates them anyway LOL I got 250 hours on mine running mostly propane and it still runs great, But then again I really mostly use it to charge my rv batterys and run the A/C. Heck I ran my house on for weeks and it never had an issue.@@arcli9ht
Nice video, but can you compare the “lights” to a coffee grinder, shave ice maker or espresso machine? I want to know the power needed to run a beverage trailer with a shave ice machine (Snowie).Tia

There's something cool about a small box purring away generating so much power
Gavin you have a great channel. I bought a predator 5000 on your recommendation before hurricane idalia, and it is great ! Thank you.
Thanks 😊
How has the Predator 5000 performed since you posted this comment? How much have you used it and would you purchase another predator 5000?
Gavin, awesome review of these three generators and the loads that they are able to handle.
Very good video.... but which one is the best choice...

I was surprised at how much quieter the Predator was than the other two.

At 6:56, did the Predator overload finally kick in, or did you remove the load?
The overload finally kicked in
Another great video, nice to see that these generators put out the power they are suppose to.
Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Try testing a starting load the 3500 can handle my air compressor but the 5000 can't. Disappointing upgrade.
You should do a fuel consumption test

Two predators in parallel does not produce 240 V, required for your transfer switch
Cummins is a beast
All 3 seem like great generators.
😎 yessir
What do you think about break-in? Is it something you think is important or just run it like you plan to use it?
When it comes to breaking in your Generator, I believe it’s best to just run it at 25% or less change the oil then like you said, just use it like you plan to use it without stressing it out for the first couple days.

Looking at the Onan thanks for the video
You’re welcome👍🏾😊
Dont do it onan is trash

How do you get 4000 watts thru a single extension cord or is it all 30amp rv cable?
A 10-gauge extension cord can carry up to 30 amps of current. This gauge is suitable for extra-heavy-duty use.
Looking to buy a 4500 Inverter Gen. TY for this info.
The predator seemed to be the most quiet out of them all.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and subscribing👍🏾
How loud were these generators that would have been nice to know.
Check out the individual videos. I do have the DB test on those reviews.
Yah I found it after the posted comment.lol

Make a video on how to build the power monitor box.

Predator 5000 can't handle a surge starting. It won't run my air compressor but my 3500 will run it fine.
That’s not normal you my have a faulty one
Strange- it will start and run my pancake compressor just fine, including while my full size table saw is already running.
Oh God not that Oanan! the voltage will drop and ruin all your stuff. I thought that you threw that thing away by now.
I thought that was the Briggs 6500 that couldn't keep its voltage

@@luciadiane6682just check the power draw listed on the devices.
Nothing plugged into generator will not start saying overloaded. With nothing plugged in. Absolutely crazy 5,000 Predator generator
Sounds like you may have a bad Inverter
