I personally prefer the Deer-Man variant of the Wendigo. It just gives it more of that skin-crawling aesthetic tas the skull of a buck (male deer) looks pretty creep as it is. So attaching a gnarled, malnourished, vaguely-humanoid body to it gives it that A grade quality as a beautifully-horrifying, eldritch abomination. Mmm, dat's the good stuff. Sweet video, man.

Apparently there are a few people who make a yearly exodus to the HauntLich Halloween videos! I'm so happy people include them as part of their yearly routine, that's so cool.
My dad used to work as a 'computer guy' for several middle and high schools and he has this story that he likes to use to scare the preteens about a jagged scar that stretches over his back and side. He CLAIMS it was inflicted on him from a wendigo while backpacking. He once used it to freak out some kids who'd sneaked into a classroom after campus was closed to use a ouigie board (there are some rumors and 'hauntings') and rather than just get them in trouble, he warned them not to mess with powers and spirits beyond their understanding or control because it really, really isn't safe. He just told the story, walked out and waited behind a nearby corner. Then something went 'crash' and the kids ran out of the classroom screaming while he all but passed out on the floor laughing. (Spoiler: the scar was actually caused from falling off a horse onto a barbed wire fence as a boy, but it looks cool enough to be 'claw marks') I actually checked out some playthroughs of Until Dawn because I'd heard they were using the wendigo legend as opposed to some other more commonly known monsters (because I don't give a crap about spoilers. Too many years of my little sister screaming "BOO" at me from behind corners has ruined me of any appreciation for surprises) which I knew was a bad idea going in. I DON'T DO HORROR. I CAN'T. Because I'm one of those people cursed with a brain the easily retains visual images that invoke strong emotions (like say pants-sh*tting levels of fear). But I overestimated myself yet again and... ...Well, I gotta say the graphics of Until Dawn were AMAZING and so pretty that it distracted me long enough that by the time I was stuck in the parts where I could see the wendigo monster, I was PETRIFIED with FEAR and I still have nightmares. Sometimes I can't myself trying to hold completely still because I spooked myself. The story behind the wendigo is actually rather fascinating because of the primal fear it invokes. Not everyone knows starvation, but we have all at least been hungry at some point in our lives. I think the monster is scary because it give the impression of being unavoidable, like hunger and the need to eat. And also unbeatable. You can't beat hunger except with food and with human flesh being your only option...yeah, the ick factor is way up there. Majoy ick. At least with zombies, you can fight back. On the topic of Wendigo with antlers. I suspect that those are deer or moose with chronic wasting disease. On the more “human like” Wendigo’s those are most likely sightings of people with rabies, chronic wasting disease, or even an unknown pathogen. This coupled with Wendigo psychosis is the most likely explanation of the infamous Wendigo.
Yeah the logical explanation is still pretty scary. You ever seen a deer attack someone? Those antlers aren't just for attractin' mates. And moose are basically megafauna, forget that, I'd rather actually fight a wendigo than a moose tbh.

It raises a thought of if there was something out there old tribes once worshipped? Or was the god inspired by folklore? You have North American native tribes that told stories of the Wendigo, and the Celts with Cernunnos. It's almost chilling that two distinct cultures separated by an ocean would have passed down stories of powerful deer-men.
