- Discover the World's Best Airport: A Tour of Singapore's Award-Winning Changi Airport
The story of Changi Airport begins in 1975, when the Singapore government decided to build a new airport to replace the aging Paya Lebar Airport. The new airport was built on reclaimed land in Changi, in the eastern part of Singapore.
Changi Airport opened its doors in 1981, with a single terminal and a capacity of 8 million passengers per year. Over the years, the airport underwent several expansions and upgrades to accommodate the growing number of passengers and airlines.
In the early 1990s, Changi Airport began to focus on improving the airport experience for travelers, by introducing new facilities and amenities such as shopping, dining, and entertainment options. In 1995, the airport opened its second terminal, which was designed with a garden theme and featured a rooftop pool and a butterfly garden.
In the following years, Changi Airport continued to innovate and expand, with the opening of Terminal 3 in 2008, and Terminal 4 in 2017. These new terminals were designed with a focus on efficiency, automation, and sustainability, and they incorporated the latest technology to enhance the airport experience for travelers.
In addition to its state-of-the-art facilities and amenities, Changi Airport is known for its high level of customer service and commitment to safety and security. The airport has won numerous awards over the years, including the prestigious title of Best Airport in the World by Skytrax for ten consecutive years from 2013 to 2021.
Today, Changi Airport is one of the busiest and most popular airports in the world, with over 60 million passengers passing through its terminals each year. Its success is a testament to the vision and dedication of its founders, and its commitment to providing a world-class airport experience for travelers from around the world.

Singapore's Changi Airport has been named the "world's best airport" by Skytrax for a record 12th time, latest being winner in 2023. The airport had previously held the top spot for eight consecutive years from 2013 to 2020, NOT 9 years (2013-2021) as indicated in subtitle.

Skytrain connecting Terminals 2 and 3 will pass through Jewel, there will not be any skytrain station within the complex.
