  • Why was the Devotion condemned by the Holy Office in 1959? Why and how was it brought back to life? Why was the Index of Forbidden Books destroyed in 1978? What exactly is the Divine Mercy Devotion? What are the theological problems with this Devotion? All these questions and many more will be answered in this interview with Fr Charles Murr, an eye witness at the Vatican. A must see interview!

This is Catholicism . So glad Fr Murr mentions that he rediscovered he priesthood and understood the Mass as a sacrifice . I felt like I didn’t understand the Mass as a sacrifice until ai started attending TLM. But no wonder bc so much taken out of Novus Ordo. And then trying to be a meal and talk of sacrifice . I used to wonder what is the sacrifice - the bread people are taking up to the altar?! People left the Chiurch bc they have no idea what is really going on at the Mass.

The Devotion to His Most Sacred Heart and to His Divine Mercy are not at odds they are a compliment to one’s life of prayer. The tragedy in the life of the Church is a loss of devotion in the life of the family and the world. Families no longer have their homes enthroned to His Sacred Heart and display a statue or painting that is honored. The Divine Mercy image compliments the message of the Burning Heart of Gods Love that is the message of the Sacred Heart. St. Mary Alacoque was instructed to spread the message of His Love and St. Faustina was instructed to spread the message of His Mercy. God have Mercy on us.

I think that you meant the Latin word protestant. I know Latin is not properly used in The Church nowadays, so I going to assume that you don’t know what protestant means. Because Fr. Murr quite literally was protesting against The Church, and if you knew what protestant meant you would understand that Fr. Murr is a protestant. However, and again I’m going to assume no fault of your own, modernism has influenced the world. Modernism changes definitions of words. So to say that Fr. Murr is not a protestant (at least in this video) is a modernist view.

Thank you Fr Murr and for the host for the interview. It was very refreshing for me. Our priest had also told myself and my wife about his thoughts on the divine mercy prayer and Chaplet. He had guided us away from this as a practice for similar reasons mentioned in here. And as there are so many older traditional chapters and prayers it felt wiser for us to turn to something more traditional and felt correct for us at that time. Father in this video elaborated on it all more for me, especially it seems in line with the way the church has been moving where Mercy is focused on without the appropriate attention to Justness of our Lord. The simple example of the forgiving the $5 was perfect.
It made me think of deeper forgivenesses we have in life too which are tough. Say, a parent who didn’t show up in a grievous manner, an ex partner who was abusive. We find these troubling to move past for the reasons aforementioned I think. Although we may be able to forgive the person it’s hard to fully move on until we feel that a justice which has matches our compassionate forgiveness has happened. It seems this can be made by the person who did harm to us making actions of repentance and just actions in regard to their relationship with us to a degree that appropriate justice has taken place and things will feel ordered. Otherwise, because this is beyond our control, we must then turn to the Almighty Gods justice. Trusting that although he is also infinitely compassionate with his divine mercy he is equally infinitely just in his judgement. In that case we must have faith in the knowledge of that just judgement and hand the worry’s or any bitterness or resentment over to Our Lord, knowing that we know not enough to action justice appropriately in this world, but He does.

Liberalism has always been a sinful force that Pope Pius X worked so hard to combat. He insisted on an annual oath against Modernism which Pope Paul Vi dropped. Although he wrote Humanae Vitae and warned that Contraception leads to abortion, he was so weak as he did nothing to defend it. He permitted Communion in the hand.. pope JPIi allowed girl servers and, surprisingly, pressed for the zneevIrder Mass and erred in his disregard for Absp. Marcel Kefebvre who warned that if you change the Liturgy, you change belief. Fr. Murr reveals all of them valuable traditions that were dropped and disregarded once the New Order Mass was introduced.

It seems to me that the writings show that God does not tolerate sin. During Eucharistic Adoration in the convent Jesus was looking very sternly at some of the sisters. Faustina said that if we understood how much we would have to pay for the slightest sin we would never commit a venial sin. God kept showing her His justice. Different times Faustina would say that this soul or that soul was falling into Hell. I did not get the impression that God's Mercy was not obtained without struggle.

A great talk. God bless you. One thing I’d like to correct you on. It was the devotion to Divine Mercy as recommended by s. Faustina that was banned & the use of the DM image in Churches in 1959. However, the Diary was never placed on the Index of Forbidden Books. This is a common error. The reason for this is that the Diary was not fully published back in the 1950’s but only parts of it were. The 1st time it was fully published was in 1981 after the Notification was removed in April 1978. Not that this changes the fact that the whole devotion was banned. Another less known fact was that one of the major reasons why the Holy Office placed the ban in 1959 was after the feedback they receive which they receive from the Polish bishops in 1957. Vast majority came back with negative opinions of it. It was not until Karol Wojtyla became a bishop & then a cardinal that & later pope that things progressed along with the change in the Church after V2. He made it his personal mission at any cost to bring back this devotion publicly & make s. Faustina a Saint. This devotion has sadly replaced in practice the Sacred Heart devotion which gives us the full understanding of God’s mercy & our duty to lead virtuous lives & make reparations for our sins.

    • @chriskozik2573
      @chriskozik2573 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@Sebastian... Well said! Especially your closing: >our duty to lead virtuous lives and make reparations for our sins.< Reparation IS key part of the Sacred Heart messages to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, yet SO little spoken of nowadays. BTW, do you know what MOST greatly pained, offended Our Lord which He told to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque? (Can't imagine how much that's increased in our times!) It was the >indifference »»of Catholics«« to His Real Presence< in the BL. Sacrament in the Tabernacle.
Archbp. Fulton Sheen encouraged a half hour daily spent before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for the laity, If at all possible (at least full hour for all Religious persons.) I recall that Mother Teresa of Calcutta said that time spent before Jesus in the BL. Sacrament had central importance her Religious Order >before< all the help given to the poor and sick.

Sr Faustina was barely literate & spoke a unique rare Polish dialect. The Diary is a forgery. Sr Faustina original idea was a bloody beaten scourged face of our Blessed Lord. The Prayer itself isn't bad but don't assume Sr Faustina was in anyway involved w the post 1978 replacement of Low Sunday, diary, new age image, etc Notice the rise of D.M. & devotion to St Joseph suddenly mysteriously falls off the cliff, along w Sacred Heart of Jesus novena/image.

@@Pawel_Jozwik It is the lack of justice from the devotion, the once saved always saved lacks justice also. As the good Father says the devotion does not say go away and sin no more. " Say unceasingly the Chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it, they will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy." (Diary, 687) Whatever happened to confession? The last rites? Only this chaplet is a sinners last hope? This devotion is very Protestant to say the least.

Sister Faustina in her diary often talks about Gods wrath for those who don't accept Gods mercy. Here are just few examples, there are many more. He was clothed in a dazzling robe, his face gloriously bright, a cloud beneath his

His grace! I gave the Savior to the world; as for you, you have to speak to the
world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second (91 ) Coming of
Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh, how terrible
is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels
tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for
[granting] mercy. If you keep silent now, you will be answering for a great number
of souls on that terrible day. Fear nothing. Be faithful to the end. I sympathize

When we had left the artist’s house, Mother Superior [Irene] stayed in town to attend to some matters while I returned home alone. I went

The Divine Mercy image nickname is “heart-less Jesus.” It’s not hard to guess why. The whole devotion is not only missing the Divine Justice side of mercy, it’s devoid of any connection to Mary.
Whenever the modernist church wants to make a Catholic devotion more palatable to Protestants, they discard the very things that make it Catholic (Sacred Heart of Jesus, True Face of Jesus, the Crucifix, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Rosary, all Marian devotions, the Latin Mass, any connection to Saints and Angels, any mention of Purgatory, the Sacraments, and more).
What you’re left with is so devoid of any true spirituality, it’s not enough to sustain meaningful conversion and growth…which is, I suppose, the entire point. Think about it!

@@Fiat.Voluntas.Tua22 I don't see your follow up. Unless, I'm mistaken, Fr. Murr explained some issues with the Divine Mercy devotion (btw, NOT any critique on sanctity of St. Faustina). And the show wasn't on topic of Garabandal or Louisa Piccarretta. Also, as far as I know St. Pio had no words about Faustina or her new devotion. So I don't see his part in any of this discussion.
The point about the index of forbidden books still holds. AND all the books on the list, incl. about the Divine Mercy >were Not removed< from the list: the list simply was taken down: in effect, the Church was informed that it's no longer in force >as a moral or canonical prohibition.< In other words, None of the reasons/causes which had flagged the books were altered, changed or disproved. It's just that you're Not committing a sin by reading any of those books.
Honestly, I'm NOT here to say a person's going against Church teachings, etc. by following the Divine Mercy devotion (btw, the chaplet is 100% orthodox with Church prayers and practice). However, I agree with Fr. Murr that the devotion presents s different focus both in its written explanations and in the devotion's practices… THAN WAS given to and revealed by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque about devotion to the Sacred Heart.
Hence, I don't dissuade others about it, unless I'm asked; yet, personally I focus on what Our Lord revealed to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.

@hm... See words, writings, prayers of St.Margaret Mary Alacoque¹, and her spiritual director,:FrJohn Croiset, S.J.², on details of the Sacred Heart devotion.
¹ St. Margaret Mary Alacoque is THE saint of the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus. GOD chose Margaret Mary to reveal the depths of His Sacred Heart to. Short books of her >Thoughts and Sayings of St. Margaret Mary: For Every DayThe Way of Divine Love< the journal of Sr. Josefa Menéndez, to whom Our Lord revealed His love and Sacred Heart in special ways. The future Pope Pius XII, then a cardinal, wrote a forward in a letter of recommendation for the original publication of her journal. (This is a deeply moving and thoughtful book, which helped bring me back to rediscover the Faith; together with >The Glories of Mary< by St. Alphonsus Ligouri (Doctor of the Church, no less-seriously, if Francis had real humility and love for Our Lady he would take to heart truths about Mary that he's dared publicly to demean and deny!)
² Fr. John Croiset, SJ., was the spiritual director of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (a little different than her confessor, who was Saint Fr. Claude La Colombière, SJ.) for decades, became intimately familiar with Our Lord's messages to her, and wrote THE classic book on the subject: >The Devotion to the Sacred Heart< republished by TAN. It's filled with profound insights and heartfelt prayers also.
      † ❤️ †
Prayer of Margaret Mary Alacoque taken from the book >Devotion To The Sacred Heart< by Fr. John Croiset, S.J.:
      Prayer:
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, to Thee I consecrate and offer up my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honoring and glorifying Thee. This is my irrevocable will, to belong entirely to Thee, and to do all for Thy love, renouncing with my whole heart all that can displease Thee.
I take Thee, O Sacred Heart, for the sole object of my love, the protection of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my frailty and inconstancy, the reparation for all the defects of my life, and my secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be Thou, O Most Merciful Heart, my justification before God Thy Father, and screen me from His anger which I have so justly merited. I fear all from my own weakness and malice, but placing my entire confidence in Thee, O Heart of Love, I hope all from Thine infinite Goodness. Annihilate in me all that can displease or resist Thee. Imprint Thy pure love so deeply in my heart that I may never forget Thee or be separated from Thee.
I beseech Thee, through Thine infinite Goodness, grant that my name be engraved upon Thy Heart, for in this I place all my happiness and all my glory, to live and to die as one of Thy devoted servants. Amen.
ps. This prayer-in all its depth, subtlety >and humility< blows me away (in a different dimension utterly than St. Faustyna, whose sanctity in all truth and justice was never questioned; yet the humility of St Margaret Mary Alacoque before GOD that's conveyed in this prayer is not found, in my humble opinion (and others' more knowledgeable), in her diary.
I'm praying 🙏 and trying step by step to get to the point when I will be able myself to honestly pray Margaret Mary's words as my own.
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque pray for us-that we love the Sacred Heart of Our Lord with a heart like yours.

Emmanuel, thank you for being a critically thinking young man with a moral compass. I did not have that at your age and fell into a life of mortal sin. I was so wretched a sinner, that when I tried to come back to Jesus, I would fall right back into sin. I found the homilies were devoid of “yes Jesus is merciful, but you must repent” (bc I believe the priest is speaking to me during the homily) I started going to a men’s group who promoted “accountability and men of faith” and praying the Devine Mercy Chaplet, and the men would get annoyed when I started asking questions about mercy without repentance. The church appealed to my emotional side initially, which is egocentric and humanistic. As I start to pray the rosary, acts of contrition multiple times daily, and strive for obedience to Mary’s pleas at Fatima, i fear offending God, don’t need a pat on the back. post V2 church is all about appealing to emotions. It’s not lacking the aspect of justice at all. Mercy and Justice go hand in hand. There’s no Mercy without Justice and Justice without Mercy. If you read the book on Devine Mercy, there’s a lot said about Justice in there. Also, when you say the Chaplet of Devine Mercy, you are supposed to be meditating on the Passion of Christ. Another point is that there are plenty of people who like Juda Iscariot have a huge problem forgiving themselves and/or release themselves of the guilt they feel (even after confession). And that’s when this devotion is crucial for bringing sinners back to the Church. How come you don’t see that Father? And yes! God’s Mercy is unconditional and His love is unconditional and the Chaplet of Mercy is for sinners who repented. Faustiana talks about the repentance all the time in her book and about sin. Father, you didn’t read the book I think.

    • @pascendi88
      @pascendi88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That’s the thesis the DM devotees push without knowledge of the background. Marian Fathers conveniently omit certain facts. A few things which are wrong with this thesis:
      1. No official statement from Vatican or primary source that confirms this thesis. It’s a conclusion that people draw mainly from the introduction to the Diary which points out that there were errors in parts of the text.
      2. In 1957 the Holy Office asked through the Primate of Poland Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski for feedback from all Polish bishops in their diocese on how the the DM devotion was being promoted & adhered to. The majority of bishops came back with negative opinions, which played a major role in DM devotion being banned.
      3. It wasn’t the Diary that was banned or placed on Index of FB’s but the spreading of the devotion in public places of s worship. Images DM were also to be removed.
As you can see from above the reason for ban of DM devotion as recommended by s. Faustina wasn’t due to a faulty translation, the Holy Office wouldn’t have been forthright if this was the only reason. Additionally the Archbishop Jałbrzykowski under whose diocese s. Faustina was also believed that what she disclosed was not supernatural in origin(after hearing her confession) This was also passed on the the commission.
It was the wind of change in Church after V2 that allowed for this devotion to be promoted & elevated which as we can see wouldn’t have taken place under the traditional & orthodox Vatican.

ALSO, there are extreme problems with Sr. Faustina's Diary on Divine Mercy. There are many shocking statement she made exsmples: that supposedly Jesus said to her, that she is the pearl of His Heart-- He told her thar He has united His Heart to her like no other creature ever... That makes her above the Blessed Virgin Mary!!! Also, puts her above any and all of Saints! Jesus supposedly told her she should not worry about judgement because she will not be judged. He supposedly told her that her love for Him is more pure than that of the Angels!!! There is many many more heretical statements in her diary. Those are a few. Please, research for your self.

The statements from this supposed apparition present a number of problems. The first problem is the promotion of Communion in the hand, which is supposedly endorsed by Our Lord. The Host flies into her hand numerous times, and Our Lord supposedly says that He desires to rest in her hands. I believe this is a diabolical snare to get Communion in the hand accepted in advance of the Vatican II religion.
Second, we see unnecessary praise heaped upon this sister. We see things allegedly said to her by Our Lord that wouldn’t foster humility, but vanity: that she is basically the greatest thing in the world. I don’t believe Our Lord would instruct her to tell her superior that she is the most faithful daughter in the Order. Our Lord could have told the superior such a thing if he wanted it known.

I recommend the interviewer to contact the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge, MA. They have promoted the devotion to the Divine Mercy from the beginning. They are the authorities on this and they will clarify and eliminate all your confusion on this devotion. Go to the source when you're doing any kind of research. The Sacred Heart devotion and the Devine Mercy complement each other. As for Divine Justice the Divine Mercy devotion requires repentance and sacramental confession.

In the beginning of the diary, Jesus explains to Faustina Before I come as the just Judge, He wanted her to tell the world of His Mercy. He asked her to be the Secretary of his Mercy.... I think Jesus knowing so many would turn their back on Him would need a reminder to return to Him; before it is too late. Accepting His Mercy means turning back to Him completely. And that means true repentance. Jesus is both Mercy and Justice, both attributes are important and need to be acknowledged.

Of course, nobody denies that fact. Simply put, it's lacking or not stressed enough. His mercy is His justice and His justice is His mercy. The Sacred Heart perfectly incorporates both and what's more, it's not an optional devotion. Pope Pius XII exhorts all Catholics to keep the devotion. The promises are enormous.
