(Spoilers for the Outcome) As I mentioned in my Aang vs Edward post, Ghost Rider is one of the coolest characters in fiction and you can't change my mind This fight was awesome, I love them just reaction to how absurdly overpowered these characters are and especially them losing their minds at Lobo in the analysis. The fight manages to portray both characters fantastically, but I am especially a fan of Lobo's portrayal. He looks in character, feels in character, sounds in character, acts in character the whole shebang. While I'm not a huge fan of Ghost Rider's voice, when he turns into Zarathos and delivers what is undoubtly one of the most CHILLING pre-kill speeches that was so cool. And holy crap, that whole segment with Lobo trying his absolute hardest to get out of Ghost Rider's chains, even using his teeth to clamp onto the ground at one point, is simply haunting and captures just how terrifying Ghost Rider could be, capped off by the Penance stare with just fits in so well (though the sounds of screaming were pretty subdued for a merciless killer like Lobo tbh) and Ride Into Hell just fits the fight so well. A very enjoyable episode, that I find myself keep coming back to even in the ocean of Marvel vs DC fights we have now oh, and next time is one of my FAVOURITE EPISODES OF ALL TIME. Seriously, this episode is what made me a Godzilla fan and I can't WAIT to see you react to that one.
It's always fun when Lobo shows up in DC properties, because it's never personal with him. People rarely try to kill or imprison him, just survive until he leaves. He shows up, fucks up, and fucks off
Don't know how or when your playlist was constructed, but All Might vs Might Guy, the season 6 finale and the episode after Deadpool vs Mask, is actually safe now. Since you reacted to the last season 4 episode, there's nothing to be spoiled on.
2:36 ah yes, the Christmas Woodland Critters from South Park... Aka the most evil creatures ever conceived. So evil apparently that in The Fractured But Whole, if you have Henrietta's DLC done before battling them, she'll not only call them "not true satanists", but the Devil himself will still do his normal "help the party at the cost of the opponents' souls" deal (which is admittedly a gameplay thing since it's Henrietta's Ultimate).
I remember the death battle community being so unsure on who the hell would even win between these two. At the time, it was probably one of the closest match-ups, at least from a debate POV.
@@PurpleHeartE54 What facts? The fact that Lobo has taken on DC heavy hitters such as Superman and Wonder Woman on the regular, as well as regenerated from a drop of blood. Ghost Rider got curb-stomped by the Hulk, even with the Zarathos power-up.
@@michaelcozzi9637 Well yeah, sure. But blood also clots and hardens if in contact with intense enough heat which Ghost Rider (Zarathos) is capable enough to dish out if he tries. @@Lorekeeper72 no. One of the dark multiverse comics. A spin off of the Dark Metal storyline. In this dark universe, the black lanterns were not defeated, and there are only three "heroes" left, with one of them being Lobo, another being Sinestro I think, and some a female hero I can't remember at the moment.
I notice that All Might Vs. Might Guy is missing from the playlist. You're at the point of My Hero Academia where you wouldn't be spoiled by that fight, so you should definitely react to it when you get there (it's this season's finale).
This one was pretty obvious to me. Mostly because they said before the fight that ghost rider had 3 ways to destroy a soul. You have no idea how much I loved it when they changed ghost riders voice, "YOU WILL ALL DIE SCREAMING" I love that line so much. And to be completely honest, I was shocked when you knew the show Doctor Who (at least the name) and knew that the police box was called the T.A.R.D.I.S.
6:08, Thanos actually asked Ghost Rider of he could give him the Penance stare every day cuz he loved it I believe and Carnage was given the stare but it didnt work cuz he doesnt feel remorse and only made him want to keep killing more than ever
Not quite accurate there on Carnage. The penance stare works perfectly fine on folks who don't feel remorse, or else it would hardly be a tool for undertakers. But a symbiote doesn't have a soul in quite the same way we do (and also doesn't Technically have eyes) so the penance stare doesn't affect them quite like everybody else.
A thing to note about that: 1- It was Cosmic Ghost Rider, who was Frank Castle (the Punisher) from another time who also was a former Herald of Galactus. 2- Cosmic Ghost Rider was able to kill Thanos with just the Penance Part of the Penance Stare.
If you didn't know, ghost rider was able to defeat all the avengers before. The only way they could atop him was by having a character absorb the spirit of vengeance, once for them to then ask him to absorb it back because they were going through so much pain. And Dr strange even said his power was potentially limitless if I remember correctly
I really enjoy the two ghost rider movie, purely for Nicholas Cage's performance. Also, while Toho did use Zilla in a movie, the Godzilla from 1998 is still technically a different entity to that one, and is still Godzilla. I also really enjoyed that movie as it introduced me to Godzilla and I still holds a soft spot for it
@Landon Rife No. DC copied maybe a handful. Marvel copied practically everything. Deadpool=Slade Hulk= Solomon Grundy. Sentry=Superman. Hawkeye=Green arrow. Black cat(which is the exact same character)= Catwoman. Iron-man=Batman. Nova corps=Green lantern corps. Timberwolf=Wolverine. Thanos=Darkseid. Boomerang=Captain Boomerang. You didn't even try with that one. Vision=Red Tornado. Doom patrol= X men. The list literally goes on and on. DC copied Namor and Guardian.
So here's how the contract goes for Lobo his entire body can be destroyed and his soul will remain uncollectible but even though his soul can't be collected doesn't mean that you can destroy his soul and the Penance Stare does work on Lobo the reason it didn't work the first time was mainly do to the fact that Lobo just didn't care
@@Lorekeeper72 To build on that point for anyone else who was confused, the Penance Stare takes a bit of time to do; even in the comics, characters have avoided the consequences by making sure the Stare didn't finish. It's not easy to do, and obviously usually involves more extenuating circumstances, but as far as I'm aware, the Penance Stare is usually a fight-ender, after someone's been worn down enough to not struggle out of it.
I think people may underestimate Ghost Rider because their prior knowledge may be just from the Nicolas Cage movies. Even I thought Lobo would win and could possibly survive the penance stare and knew that Lobo was difficult to kill and did not realize that Ghost Rider had multiple ways of targeting the Soul. This was one of those Death Battles where I guessed wrong, but was pleasantly surprised and okay with the outcome since I like both characters
No you didn't guess wrong. Death Battle jerked ghost rider and lied like crazy, johnny and the ghost don't have anything to do with Zarathos. Lobo doesn't have a soul for a long time now etc.. Lobo can roflstomp Ghostrider.
After Deadpool vs The Mask is actually All Might vs Might Guy. It's most likely because of spoilers to MHA because you're reacting to it but you've already seen everything they cover so you're clear to watch it.
Since no one seems to have brought it up, the reason Lobo reminded you so much of Blanka at the start is because they used a heavily customized Blanka sprite for the animation.
This is one of my all time favorite DB episodes…mainly bc I love Ghost Rider so much, but everything about it was awesome: the research, the writing, the music…top notch, in my opinion.
The penance stare is pretty indiscriminate. Once, a pair of police officers accidentally chased a serial killer into a populated area, and the stare held them accountable for everyone he killed trying to escape or slow them down.
I do agree with the outcome, _buuuuut_ the way Ghost Rider's stare works is inconsistent, and depends on the author at the time. It doesn't work on people who enjoy it or those who feel no guilt over their actions, like Thanos (who enjoys it) and The Punisher (no guilt). However, it sometimes does work on those who enjoy it and those who feel no guilt because it _actually_ makes them feel the suffering they cause, so it doesn't matter whether they feel guilt or if they enjoy it. The ability is purely a plot device, and serves to end whatever threat is in the current arc. If it fails, it's because they're trying to build up a threat, or they've written themselves into a position where Ghost Rider would obviously use the ability but the story isn't ready to end or they need the character to stay in the story, so they have to come up with a reason why it fails. tl:dr the stare is a bullshit plot device ability
that can be aplied to almost anything to be honest and im not saying its a bad or good thing, its just the way it is depending on writers and situations any skill, ability, piece of gear etc can be the ultimate threat or threat ender
The punisher one was already explained to not have worked because he had divine protection on him at that time given to him by deadpool. It has worked on people who have shown no regret. Death Battle even points this out in the black box at the end of the fight

Static shock was pretty cool. At least imo. Great DC character and I loved how they made some of the villains not just those generic stock villas but gave them some depth of character. Something that makes Magneto one if my favorites from marvel because he didn't want to just take over the world, but create something where mutants didn't have to fear the oppression of an unjust society, which made me really appreciate him so much, even if he went about it the wrong way.

Strange, a few episodes for the rest of season 6 are missing. There are three episodes between Dragon Zord vs MechaGodzilla and Deadpool vs The Mask. The first one doesn't consist of anything that would spoil you on any shows you plan on watching unless you plan on watching YuYu Hakusho, the second consists of a Legend Of Zelda character so you'll probably have to skip it which is a bummer considering it's the first episode to be done by the sfm team which consists of Devil Artimus, and the third one consists of no spoilers unless you plan on watching Mob Phyco 100. Thats some KotOR and Fallout level dick moves on getting your jollies after a successful pain in the ass escort mission.
This fucking battle is ridiculous and I love it. I grew up with Lobo in that Superman cartoon. Bastich is the closest they were allowed to get without saying bastard and bitch is my guess. Legit just thought of that and feel dumb for not noticing til just now and that is a method of censorship that should be used WAY more often. Gonna shuck your diss…..that…didn’t work as well as I hoped but it looks just stupid enough to keep it in. Ghost Rider I know very little of other than I had an old comic of him growing up. (One comic issue. So no context of him as a character honestly. And I don’t even remember the issue.) Weird guy. But also fun. The soul eating power was going to come back so I voted Ghost Rider. Even though I like Lobo more.
There are only four ways to not have your soul destroyed by the Penance Stare 1. Blindness, if you’re blind then you literally can’t see into Ghost Rider’s eyes 2. Draw power from pain, if your power is drawn from pain, the Penance Stare will only make you stronger 3. Lacking a soul, without a soul to burn, the Penance Stare does nothing 4. If you get off on pain, if you find pain to be pleasurable, the Penance Stare will at most give you an orgasm Aaaaaaaand Lobo does none of these things He’s not blind, he doesn’t draw power from pain, while his soul can’t be claimed by death, it still certainly exists, and he is no masochist And due to death being unable to claim his soul, Lobo couldn’t die, but dying and having your soul sent to heaven or hell or reincarnated or whatever isn’t the same as having your soul destroyed Ghost Rider’s Penance Stare is really only meant to inflict pain on you, equivalent to the pain you’ve inflicted on others, for mild pranksters, at most they’ll feel embarrassment and anger, for mass murderers and homicidal maniacs (like Lobo) they’d feel death and suffering the likes of which would destroy his soul Or Ghost Rider could just eat Lobo’s soul, he does that sometimes
Just a heads up, after Mecha Godzilla vs Dragonzord will be another possible controversial death battle! Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto vs Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho!
I'm honestly waiting for them to remake Doomguy Versus Master Chief cause you know they have to at this rate. They've remastered Samus Versus Boba Fett and Link Versus Cloud. Especially with Infinite having just come out you'd think that would be right around the hype time.
Fun fact the penance stare doesn't work on Deadpool and the Punisher also Thanos as mentioned in the Video lol so i don't think Lobo the Main Man definitely would be immune to it as well lol cause he doesn't feel guilty
It didn't work because Punisher had divine protection on him at that time and for Deadpool the Rider wasn't trying to kill him just make him rethink his life choices, he can make sure the Penance Stare doesn't kill them if he feels like it
It's probably been explained, but you had two questions which I have the answer to. Well, one answer, and one thing you seemed confused about. First, the question about the Penance Stare not working on some people... The Penance Stare DID work on Lobo, as we see at the end. Earlier on in the fight, it was just that Ghost Rider couldn't hold him still for long enough for it to put Lobo in enough pain that he couldn't fight back. When Lobo was a ghost, though, Lobo couldn't exactly stop it, having no physical body with which to overpower Ghost Rider. Secondly, the thing you seemed confused about, even when they explained it... Death pronounced his soul 'untouchable', meaning that he was not allowed to reap it. However, that doesn't mean other things couldn't happen to the soul, like, in this case, it being devoured. Destroying the soul outright is fine, Lobo's just been banned from the afterlife. No soul, no afterlife.

I honestly feel like they could easily make him into DC's Deadpool. He's already got most of what he needs. Instead they seem to be intent on making Harley Quinn into that role.
This is a fun battle but they definitely got the verdict wrong. Lobo defeated DC’s Santa Claus who scales above true form Darkseid (yes really). He’s resisted soul attacks/manipulation from being comparable to or superior to Zarathos like Etrigan the demon and Calypso the embodiment of god’s chaos. They also mentioned how Lobo has kept up with or speed blitzed characters like Superman, The Flash, and Green Lantern’s but didn’t bother to scale those character’s speeds which would have put him well above ghost rider or his cycle. Even if Ghost Rider could catch up to him Lobo could use clones to distract him while he obtains a holy weapon to kill Ghost Rider.

While I'm not a huge fan of Ghost Rider's voice, when he turns into Zarathos and delivers what is undoubtly one of the most CHILLING pre-kill speeches that was so cool.
And holy crap, that whole segment with Lobo trying his absolute hardest to get out of Ghost Rider's chains, even using his teeth to clamp onto the ground at one point, is simply haunting and captures just how terrifying Ghost Rider could be, capped off by the Penance stare with just fits in so well (though the sounds of screaming were pretty subdued for a merciless killer like Lobo tbh)
and Ride Into Hell just fits the fight so well.
A very enjoyable episode, that I find myself keep coming back to even in the ocean of Marvel vs DC fights we have now
oh, and next time is one of my FAVOURITE EPISODES OF ALL TIME. Seriously, this episode is what made me a Godzilla fan and I can't WAIT to see you react to that one.
Oh wow the Gobi desert with English writing lol thats funny and the next one is really good
@@theduckgoesmoo fun fact boomstick says this but

Featuring the star of GaMetal?! HOLY SH*T!
You're absolutely correct!
It was a very good match up in more ways than one
Lobo should have won that one in my opinion.
@@michaelcozzi9637 Can't ignore the facts though.
I won't ask how heat resistant Lobo is in general, just thinking about it from a somewhat logical perspective even if HE doesn't.
(At 16:15) Well, I guess that explains the "grimace shake" being potent.
There actually is a recent comic where Lobo got his own green lantern ring. He started hitting things with a green lantern giant d!ldo.
Of course he did....
Injustice 2 right?
@@Lorekeeper72 no. One of the dark multiverse comics. A spin off of the Dark Metal storyline. In this dark universe, the black lanterns were not defeated, and there are only three "heroes" left, with one of them being Lobo, another being Sinestro I think, and some a female hero I can't remember at the moment.
@@jayburn00 I'm confident they did that in Injustice 2 comics too, except it was Red Lanterns
I notice that All Might Vs. Might Guy is missing from the playlist. You're at the point of My Hero Academia where you wouldn't be spoiled by that fight, so you should definitely react to it when you get there (it's this season's finale).
You're right thanks!
"They don't call me the Main Man for nothing"
A thing to note about that:
1- It was Cosmic Ghost Rider, who was Frank Castle (the Punisher) from another time who also was a former Herald of Galactus.
2- Cosmic Ghost Rider was able to kill Thanos with just the Penance Part of the Penance Stare.
Lobo was made as a joke.
He was a riff on the over the top edgey characters of the 90's
If you didn't know, ghost rider was able to defeat all the avengers before. The only way they could atop him was by having a character absorb the spirit of vengeance, once for them to then ask him to absorb it back because they were going through so much pain. And Dr strange even said his power was potentially limitless if I remember correctly
I really enjoy the two ghost rider movie, purely for Nicholas Cage's performance. Also, while Toho did use Zilla in a movie, the Godzilla from 1998 is still technically a different entity to that one, and is still Godzilla. I also really enjoyed that movie as it introduced me to Godzilla and I still holds a soft spot for it
yeah fun fact on Ghost Rider. all it took for him to put down Galactus the multi world eater was a single penance stare.
Fun fact: Lobo was Stan Lee's favorite DC character.
I'm surprised he never ripped him off.
@Landon Rife And I'm surprised he never copied him. He copied alot of the rest.
@Landon Rife No.
DC copied maybe a handful.
Marvel copied practically everything.
Deadpool=Slade
Hulk= Solomon Grundy.
Sentry=Superman.
Hawkeye=Green arrow.
Black cat(which is the exact same character)= Catwoman.
Iron-man=Batman.
Nova corps=Green lantern corps.
Timberwolf=Wolverine.
Thanos=Darkseid.
Boomerang=Captain Boomerang. You didn't even try with that one.
Vision=Red Tornado.
Doom patrol= X men.
The list literally goes on and on.
DC copied Namor and Guardian.
@Landon Rife Ooh. Wow. One copy in the last 30 years.
Marvel still ripped off more
@Landon Rife Yeah well anything less than Darkseid is gonna be weak as shit 🤣🤣
Godzilla and first gen Power Rangers were my childhood. That battle is awesome to me and I hope you appreciate it too Duck.
When Ghostrider's full power was out its increases the penance stare by universal level of power
And managed to smash Ghost Rider's skull before he could finish it
@@Lorekeeper72 To build on that point for anyone else who was confused, the Penance Stare takes a bit of time to do; even in the comics, characters have avoided the consequences by making sure the Stare didn't finish. It's not easy to do, and obviously usually involves more extenuating circumstances, but as far as I'm aware, the Penance Stare is usually a fight-ender, after someone's been worn down enough to not struggle out of it.
Dude... I remember getting hyped about 2k subs. Good work!
I still feel the same as if I have 3k subs honestly
Wdym he doesn't have anything to do with Zarathos?
Anyone else notice that bit where Lobo got his Arm shot off and it re-grew WITH A NEW GLOVE
I'm gonna see about using that word "bastich" in my vocabulary more often. Especially this phrase: "Offspring of a bastich!" 😆
When Deadpool appears, I love how Whiz punches with his normal arm and not his robot one.
If it fails, it's because they're trying to build up a threat, or they've written themselves into a position where Ghost Rider would obviously use the ability but the story isn't ready to end or they need the character to stay in the story, so they have to come up with a reason why it fails.
tl:dr the stare is a bullshit plot device ability
that can be aplied to almost anything to be honest
and im not saying its a bad or good thing, its just the way it is
depending on writers and situations any skill, ability, piece of gear etc can be the ultimate threat or threat ender
The punisher one was already explained to not have worked because he had divine protection on him at that time given to him by deadpool. It has worked on people who have shown no regret. Death Battle even points this out in the black box at the end of the fight
Anytime you hear somebody say I can’t like anybody from DC cause I’m a Marvel person,or I can’t like anybody from Marvel cause I’m a DC person, just know that the person who created Marvel (aka The Late Great Stan Lee),Even admitted that Lobo is a very cool character, and his favorite character actually in DC,Cause Lobo is a very cool and Interesting character(aka The Main Man),I like ghost rider too by the way.
Yea I'm a straight Marvel fan but I still love people like
Green Arrow
Riddler
Scarecrow and possibly some others down the road
They are indeed making a sequel to Into the Spiderverse. The first Teaser for Across the Spiderverse came out recently
Basically like "I can't take it? Okay, I'll destroy it instead."
Give Scorpion the powers of an arch angel and the ability to eat souls and you have a true spirit of vengance.
Actually even if you are a good person the stare can still work on you, as long as you did something that can still be considered sinful, even if it were for good intentions

Oh, and after Deadpool vs The Mask is the season finale which is also out of the playlist for some reason, which consists of having All Might.
Yeah and I really liked the Ganondorph vs Dracula Death Battle, mostly because as you said it was DevilArtemis's first Death Battle animation, and the final line before the kill

I was introduced to Ghost Rider through the Animated series *"The Incredible Hulk"* from 1996, the best show about Hulk.
ok quick summar of mechagodzilla and dragonzord.
-mechagodzilla is well a robot. depending on version its either made by the military or aliens but is usually piloted.
-dragonzord is controlled the green power ranger through his dragon dagger flute (that tune you heard which is used to call for it). The Green Ranger has already fought a death battle. In Power rangers. Green Ranger lost his powers but became the White Ranger (so fought in the Tigerzord/white ranger vs 6th Gundam DB)

There is actually another Spider verse movie in the works right now.
I believe one of the side notes was that Lobo keeps his word no matter what but hes such a loose cannon that he had a job to escort someone safely to some place but they pissed him off so much that as soon as the job was done and he got paid he thanked the extra baggage for the trip by blowing their head clean off. Thats some KotOR and Fallout level dick moves on getting your jollies after a successful pain in the ass escort mission.

Nostalgia Critic did reviews on the two Ghost Rider movies.
The zilla movie was horrible but the show of that movie was alot better
I had a lot of fun with that show so I was surprised to hear that the movie was bad

There are only four ways to not have your soul destroyed by the Penance Stare
1. Blindness, if you’re blind then you literally can’t see into Ghost Rider’s eyes
2. Draw power from pain, if your power is drawn from pain, the Penance Stare will only make you stronger
3. Lacking a soul, without a soul to burn, the Penance Stare does nothing
4. If you get off on pain, if you find pain to be pleasurable, the Penance Stare will at most give you an orgasm
Aaaaaaaand Lobo does none of these things
He’s not blind, he doesn’t draw power from pain, while his soul can’t be claimed by death, it still certainly exists, and he is no masochist
And due to death being unable to claim his soul, Lobo couldn’t die, but dying and having your soul sent to heaven or hell or reincarnated or whatever isn’t the same as having your soul destroyed
Ghost Rider’s Penance Stare is really only meant to inflict pain on you, equivalent to the pain you’ve inflicted on others, for mild pranksters, at most they’ll feel embarrassment and anger, for mass murderers and homicidal maniacs (like Lobo) they’d feel death and suffering the likes of which would destroy his soul
Or Ghost Rider could just eat Lobo’s soul, he does that sometimes
Next deadpool vs the mask
Just a heads up, after Mecha Godzilla vs Dragonzord will be another possible controversial death battle! Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto vs Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho!
I'm honestly waiting for them to remake Doomguy Versus Master Chief cause you know they have to at this rate. They've remastered Samus Versus Boba Fett and Link Versus Cloud. Especially with Infinite having just come out you'd think that would be right around the hype time.
Deadpool vs The Mask is coming 😍😍
Cool video!
Skull frack wow Lobo censored himself
The next battle was animated by the RWBY team if I’m remembering correctly
Lobo is the hard rock version of DoomGuy!
Fun fact the penance stare doesn't work on Deadpool and the Punisher also Thanos as mentioned in the Video lol so i don't think Lobo the Main Man definitely would be immune to it as well lol cause he doesn't feel guilty
It depends because sometimes it still works on people that don't feel remorse
It didn't work because Punisher had divine protection on him at that time and for Deadpool the Rider wasn't trying to kill him just make him rethink his life choices, he can make sure the Penance Stare doesn't kill them if he feels like it
@@chrismanning2888 It's True. Because Deadpool gave a Angel Feather on the Punisher to give himself Divine Protection against the Ghost Rider.
2:36 "Hail satan!" "Don't do that!" Why not?
Obvious reasons but you do you
if he killed the human the full power of the immortal demon within would be unleashed
I grew up reading Lobo and not Ghost Rider. This DB really hurt the feels.
Oof
Nostalgia Critic did a review of Ghost Rider. Just throwing that out there.
Oh how interesting 👀

They actually got this one right
Fun Fact: Lobo is DC version of wolverine, and they have fought in a marvel Vs Dc Comic And wolverine Claimed the victory (but, the battle was based on Popular votes)
I know your not watching Wolverine vs Raiden because raiden is from metal gear solid and you’re going to do a playthough of metal gear.
Lol
Ahh, at least I know I'm not the only one who was right.
LOBO is my favorite Superman villain after Lex Luthor
