We love you Cliff. Thank you for everything that you did for the world. You will never be forgotten.
This was so epic when they pulled this out. I remember looking around when the crowd popped when the first riff came out and saw grown ass men crying and hugging it was pretty bad ass.
The studio version is one of the saddest/most touching song I’ve heard. I recently got deep into Metallica and it even hits me in a way, it’s crazy
Just the best metallica instrumental by miles. That middle harmonizing section really gets to me after all these years. RIP legend Cliff Burton.
Agreed...most fans would chose Ktulu or Orion, but this is my favourite Metallica instrumental song
On the slow part it looked like James was trying so hard to hold back tears
Yes james love cliff
He really did and playing that live for the first time I can’t Imagine what emotions he was going through
It’s gorgeous. Yet another shining star I have to mourn posthumously. Thank you Cliff😂❤🎸🤟🏾
The realization in the crowd of what song it is when the drum fill hits. So good.
what an absolutely gorgeous song
This is actually the only time ever this song has been played completely live
İ couldn't write the sentence better
No they didn’t do the beginning without the electric guitars
@@philippevanvoorthuizen252 ops that's tight
this is one of the best songs ever ... watch them drop the tempo in the middle
the studio version is much better! the second verse was written by Cliff Burton just before he died. keep up the good work. greetings from Portugal. 🤘☠🤘
dont be buzzkill
Sorry brother I thought about that after I sent the video. I am making up for it on the video I sent out yesterday
@@pickamaterina1313 I just hate they didnt play in standard tuning
This is the first and only perfomance live of that song.
How has any metalhead never heard Metallica's stuff? It's like someone learning classical music but never listened to Mozart.
I just wish Kirk had actually relearned the original solo in the clean section… it is too beautiful and touching to pass on that and improvise instead
Yep, James plays this solo on the original, so I think he should have played it here
Bob Rock would not have approved of the improvised solo Kirk played here instead😸
I want to live is to die played at my funeral
Such a beautiful song. I know Orion and Ktulu get the praise for instrumentals, but this one is just as good.
It's way better!!
@@taddei3912 I dunno man, they are each such masterpieces. They’re very interchangeable to me if I’m ranking them.
Instrumentally Epic. Was 18 when this came out!
#1 Metallica song to me!!!! I think I have listen to this like 1 million times.
8:54 such sad part, Cliff missing in the frame.
the best way to honour someone's legacy is through music 💯
REST IN PEACE CLIFF WE LOVE YOU ALL
THis tune always got me emotional.. Tears in my eyes thinking of Mr Cliff Burton. so powerfull
Every single section of this song is incredible, it takes you to so many different places and builds and builds to such a powerful place that just grabs you and pulls you in so well. I could listen to the album version every day and never tire of it.
A fun fact about this song, Michael Akerfeldt from Opeth cited this song as a huge inspiration for him. It was specifically the clean soft section in the middle where everything drops away but the clean guitar. He said if he had never heard that specific section then Opeth might not even exist today. It's actually not that surprising to me personally, just listen to that section on the studio version with this in mind. It totally sounds like it could be in an Opeth song.
The F’ing switches in this song…. Lordy.
One of my favorite songs from Metallica! Great reaction guys!
That is not how its supposed to end. The Studio version cuts off suddenly.
A couple of facts: 1st : this is the first time Metlica played To Live is to Die in it's entirety... prior to that... only part of the song was played during the...And Justice for All tour.
2nd : when Cliff Burton's brother died... Cliff promised his brother that he was going to be the best bassist in the world... and he did it in his own way... R.I.P. Clifford Lee Burton 😓😮😥😣😓😢😭😭😭
@daniellysohirka4258 correct... I have no idea why some of my comment didn't register.
Was supposed to be Metallica never played the song in it's entirety until the 30 year anniversary... My apologies 😔
you know what, i WILL hit the like button. i dont often do, i like u guys, u rlly enjoy metallica, for that i thank you
Not to knock Jason & Rob
Both are very great
Even Cliff would be proud of them
Every time I hear this song I think of what would have been Cliffs bassline sound like
RIP Cliff Burton.
Master Cliff at his best!
all of the band players are nenarly 60 still killing it
Very cool. Had not seen this performance yet
Fucking classic!!!🤘🍺🤘next ,, Orion.🤘🖤🖤
To live is to die Seattle 89 very emotional.
La Cara de Hetfield estaba muy parecido al 86 tan joven cuanta magia en ese escenario
Opeth exists because of this song.
❤️🔥🤘🏼❤️🔥🤘🏼❤️🔥🤘🏼❤️🔥
Should've done studio version
Y'all should hear
...And Justice For All?! 🤯
Hey Wolf HunterZ! Your 2000nest reaction video is coming soon. Maybe you could do something special for it. Maybe a live reaction or something. (Sorry for the bad english, i use google translate.)
And NO this is not peaces of songs.
This is one complete thing.
Rip cliff 🤘🤘🤘
You should hear the s and m version of this! Fan made of course
I remember when Metallica was still underground and the meer thought of them becoming a household name was mortifying to us. It was OUR music and no one else's!!! Lol
You guys should react to Metallica playing Battery on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Nooooo, why did you choose the live version? The studio version is 10x better. They didn't manage to play this live at its full potential.
they played like 80 songs in one week. thats too much. props to them for trying though
It"s mostly Kirk who fucks up his parts.
@@ysinvangulik1004 He sometimes doesn't learn the complete solos. He relies on his awful improv 🙈
You should react to sad but true from Nimes 2009
smoke a bowl with cliff RIP CLIFF
React to Metallica Call of Ktulu
The worst way to experience this amazing song... the one live performance they ever attempted where James doesn't even play his own lead.
It's weird to hear bass on this song.
Dave Mustaine : Lars isn't a good Drummer , he really isn't . Just ask any Drummer that wants his job if he can Drum , they'll say no he isn't a good Drummer .
I've Never heard of a Band selling 125 Million Albums with a suck Drummer 😂🙉🙈🙃🤔🙄💫😳☀⭐🌠⚡🌋💥🔥😎 hahahaha
Kirk ruins another of my favorite solo's.
Leave
@@Huddle_House56 Hey man, i love metallica, but you have to admit kirk phones it in these days. It just seems like he doesn't care enough to relearn his solo's.
Professor Chaos disposable heroes live in Madrid 2019 and then see your way out
@@Huddle_House56 what the guy said is true my dude. Yes he does play some solos live like the studio version. But literally the most emotional solos, this one and fade to black's solo he ruins them live. They are my favourite solos
Well Kirk's solo here at least sounded pretty good still. But on fade to black in every single damn live it's terrible
To be honest, this version doesnt make proper honours to the actual studio version of the song, the down tunning and the weird concert sound, ruin totally the atmosphere of it. Not to mention that they started to suck on live shows after death magnetic, im pretty sure they wouldve nail it if they played it back in the 90's atleast
Lars middle name should be "phil" Jesus.. too much
I have heard with many of us, that Cliff was secretly a Christian when I was growing up in the late 80's & early 90's?!
studio version from 88 is better
S takimi yebalnikami
This is hands down the worst version of this great song. Try the studio version it's 100 times better.
Terrible solo from Hammet Bull shit:))
This is the first time it was ever played live so that might be a reason.
It's because they had to learn a lot of songs they haven't play in a while or at all for these three shows. They didn't have time to nail every part.

live versions suck
