Other than the disguise of peace and security by way of joining EU/NATO, what else are "benefits" of this action?
Is this propaganda from the West that penetrates hard on the youth and creates internal chaos? - 24:19
Will Georgia also face what Ukraine is so unfortunate to face now, the false promises of the West and abandonment quick to follow?
I say distant relatives are good for a short visit, but diplomacy and good relations with neighbors are for a lifetime.
I see so much comparative similarities between global events and proxy wars and geopolitical conflicts taking place all around the world these days where one of my conclusions was that at the sunset of the global dominant super power, it does not want to go down quietly, rather go down in a ball of flames where it engulfs the entire world... create chaos and destabilize all corners of the world in hopes of holding on to such loss of power and dominance for a mere moment further.
So Johnny Harris, care to take a deep dive into this? Or are you also a cog in the propaganda machine?
ps: I'm from Sri Lanka, and I'm a silent observer of the contemporary global event.

I see so much comparative similarities between global events and proxy wars and geopolitical conflicts taking place all around the world these days where one of my conclusions was that at the sunset of the global dominant super power, it does not want to go down quietly, rather go down in a ball of flames where it engulfs the entire world... create chaos and destabilize all corners of the world in hopes of holding on to such loss of power and dominance for a mere moment further.

but yes russia was playing the ossetians and abkhazians they said they want to be their own staat so russi was placing peace keepers there and in 2008 the georgians attacked them
and imo wanted to take over the ossetians for some reason and that backfired hard (maybe they wanted to fix their border problems with them so they can join nato coz you cant join with border clashes)
i mean what was the point for georgia? get some village back? imo it could not been a preemtive strike from georgia coz in the end russia just run in and punched them hard but left emediatly after destroying the georgian army so there was no intend to take over georgia from russia
but it makes sens for russia to hold this ossetians and abkhazians territory "for" them so georgia cant join nato and if they join nato they have a foot hold on the other side of the caucasus

In the last years of the Soviet Union, ethnic tensions between Ossetians and Georgians in Georgia's former Autonomous Oblast of South Ossetia (abolished in 1990) and between Ossetians and the Ingush in North Ossetia evolved into violent clashes that left several hundred dead and wounded and created a large tide of refugees on both sides.

Only in this case Georgia attacked Russia. First, Georgia sent troops into South Ossetia, destroying cities like Tskhinvali, and then attacked Russian peacekeepers who were maintaining peace in the region at Georgia's invitation. As you probably know, this is the unleashing of a war, for which Georgia and the countries that incited it are responsible. Take, for example, the confession of George Bush Jr., who told Vovan and Lexus that Saakashvili (the President of Georgia who unleashed the war against Russia and is now in a Georgian prison) was a puppet ruler installed by Western countries after a coup d'etat.

Yes, of course ♥️. Suddenly, Russia has 50,000 soldiers with tanks, artillery, and aircraft on the only road connecting to Georgia. A week before, they evacuated their civilians and began firing at Georgian villages. The day Georgia responded, these 50,000 soldiers immediately started advancing, bombing the entire Georgian territory from the sea, from another occupied region, Abkhazia, and from the air. They killed many civilians simply because they were Georgian, and thousands of Georgians were forcibly displaced from their homes.
Of course, Georgia “attacked” Russia on their so-called territory, which only Syria, North Korea, and a few “peace-loving” organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah recognize as independent.
Do you know how long it takes to gather 50,000 soldiers at the border? No. Russia started preparations two months before their attack. Perhaps the “wise” Putin knew that after two months, small Georgia would decide to attack a global nuclear power 🙏.

So childish. Russian president was telling from the very beginning that he won’t let Georgia and Ukraine join nato. Search for his speech as of 2007. What would you expect if you ignore concerns of nuclear power state and invite in 2008 these countries into nato? I think it was simply win/win combination for US foreign policy. If they join, nato would have more bases surrounding Russia, if Russia interferes US would have a pretext for internationally supported sanctions to weaken Russia. That’s exactly what happened with Georgia, and exactly what is happening with Ukraine.
