Braces Off! How to know if you're DONE WITH BRACES?!

- Taking braces off is one of the best parts of being an orthodontist.
When checking to see if a patient is ready to have their braces removed I look at a lot of things but here are the main 3 concepts I look for.
1. Straightness of teeth: Do all of the teeth align properly in a nice U shape
2. Overjet: Are the top teeth slightly ahead of the bottom teeth.
3. Midlines: Do the top and bottom teeth line up to the middle of the face.
At the end of treatment, I will smooth out the tops of the teeth, and you can get whitening completed.

Yeah mine too. I got my 1st wire changed today and it hurts. Does this happens everytime we get a new wire i mean if our treatment plan is 8 months then does it gets better with time or pain remains constant? Plz reply
I was REALLY looking for a video talking about that because I always had an open bite , and I don't know what the perfect bite is supposed to look / feel like . Unfortunately, my dentist doesn't explain ANYTHING, and that's really not a good thing because I have lots of questions .

I have had braces for 5 years and my midlines are not centered and when I told my ortho this they said it's fine not everyones is leveled and also the teeth are not aligned but they think I'm ready to remove them

Mine are off by a little. I had invisilign for 1.5 years and the ortho couldn’t fix them so I went into traditional for 2.5 years. Thought they were fixed. I feel like something is off with my bite/how my top and bottom teeth lay on each other, but my ortho insists that everything looks good. 🤬
Yea you have to have a tooth pulled out to match a mid line. I don’t have a midline but they are straight. I came out of them in July 2023 and they have moved. I asked for a rebrace. Getting that done in February 2024

I have a question that really concerns me…
Can the rubber bands on my Invisalign make my bite crooked if they pull at two different angles?
Explanation: I just started treatment and the hooks on the left side of my upper trays were somehow cut backwards, so they won’t hold the bands. Originally, both hooks were on my canines but the orthodontist hand cut new slits on my left “first premolars” for my first few trays. He put in an order for my trays to get corrected but I won’t get those until tray 6-7.
The problem is the bands pull at different angles and from asymmetrical locations. I’m not wearing them because it feels like my bite is going to be crooked. Should I be concerned?

I have a question!! I got my braces off today and once I got home, I noticed that my top teeth are slanted outwards a bit??? From the front they look beautiful! But from the side I can tell and it’s making me insecure 😅 will my retainer fix this??? Or???

Hi sir,I am getting my braces off on Monday but there is a small gap between my middle teeth.Will the space be closed after wearing retainers or should I ask my dentist to tighten my braces again. What should I do please give me your advice.
I would definitely get them tightened and keep them a couple more weeks. I had a tiny gap between my 2 front teeth so my ortho put some kind of silver thread and power chain in top. The gap closed pretty fast.

I have a question actually I got braces 5 months ago and they are getting aligned but gums got overbite both in the upper and lower.. but my dentist put thiker wire in the lower teeth.. is there any problem?
My orthodontist wants to remove my braces , but my overjet it's more than 5 millimeters, my lateral incisors rotation still off. The only thing I see it's that my midline is perfect and that my braces are payed off. He is not even trying to closed the overbite with elastic techniques I'm so frustrated it.😔
I was supposed to get mine off November 25 but there was still a space on my upper teeth so i have to continue wearing these
Ok so after how much time u got them off i mean how many additional months it took?
@@b.sheikh4143it could takes a week or so but in terms of months most likely a month. But if not than they need to make sure everything is lined up and continue to make more adjustments per month or even a couple of weeks just to make sure that you can get them off in the correct way.
Omgosh I just received a letter that I can't go to there office yes I'm two payments late but I have a reason I know that's no excuse. But my question is can I go to another orthopedic office? I still have 13 months left I don't have much left to pay please help thanks

Retainer just keep teeth in place they don't help in moving teeth.

I have a question, my molars are taking a bit longer than expected to come up at the same level of all of my other teeth. Does that go into 100% awareness when deciding how much longer I’ll be in braces? If I’ve been quoted 2 years maximum and am at 1yr and two months in.
The last six months will be finishing and detailing your smile, adjusting each tooth. I wore braces and arch expanders and now have to wear permanent retainers for life to keep my teeth perfectly straight. It's worth it, you'll end up with a really wide, perfect straight smile to show off!

I got my braces 2 days ago, and it hurts to chew, I got upper braces only, since I have a crossbite, and it does hurt to chew, but it's not that bad. It depends on the person I guess but for me it hurts when I eat but it's not unbearable. I can eat stuff like chicken nuggets if I use the side of my mouth to chew slightly.
It does hurt the sides of my mouth, and there is cuts, but I just distract myself and the pain goes away, I don't use painkillers, but I eat ice cream or something cold for pain.
And apparently it takes 3-5 days or even a week for it not to hurt to chew down on food and to be able to eat normally. So it will take another few days for me but I'm looking forward to it! :))
Also apparently you feel the same discomfort when you get them refitted and they change wire so it'll be another 3-5 days pain when you do get them refitted. :D

Edit: Im also getting my braces off in eight months so a short amount of time for me since the cross bite isn't major and it wasn't a must to get braces I just wanted them to have straight teeth 💀🙏

My orthodontist took my braces off when im not finished!!!!! im pissed, I cant bite down with the midline straight, going for 2nd opinion what to do next week, I need some money back if he is going to quit on me, he said come back in 2 months, I see problems everywhere, bottom molars pushed down and bent from bite blocks, Bite blocks removed one year ago and zero bottom wire adjustments. Thats why only my ride side mismatched premlors are hitting. You cant make this crap up to be honest, wish you were my ortho!!!!!!
I’m supposed to get my braces off next week but my upper and lower molars don’t touch AT ALL when I completely close my mouth, it’s a few millimeters away from closed. Is that normal or will I need more time in braces? Doctor said everything looked perfect 3 weeks ago so I’m confused because I do not feel as if they’re perfect to remove my braces next week 😅

I noticed you said #1 or step 1:48 one focus all teeth are straight well, I’m 48 going on 2 years with braces no missed appointments this one crooked tooth at the bottom trying get in place & straighten sanding making space squeeze into place 🧐well why this wasn’t done front the jump? Also can you talk about why when put too and bottom teeth together it doesn’t close properly this is happening even with a perfect bite
My ortho got mad cause I told her I felt like my midline was off. She made me put an elastic that kinda fixed it so I just told her it looked better and she just gave me finishing elastics that are zigzag on both sides for my bite and I get my braces off in 3 weeks
Its really hard to get a perfect concerned orthodontist 😢 the same person will decide your complete appearance omg! Why dont all take responsibility. Lucky are those who got a perfect ortho
Hi! I just got my braces put on yesterday. So I have a long journey ahead of me. I have a question as to why my orthodontist only put braces on the top on the first appointment and will add the bottoms on the next appointment?
I did my treatment from bangalore and due to some reason I am not able to go back there. It's 1.7 years I am putting braces my teeth shape is good now. Can I go to some other doctor to my home town and put off my braces?
I am supposed to get my braces off next month however my midline is not corrected yet. The orthodontist says that I am missing a permanent molar but if they make space I can do an implant but they don’t want to do it. What should I do in this case?

I wanted to ask a question for you doctor, if you dont mind of course, abt changes that happens after braces. :) i feel that my braces makes my lips protude and is giving me kind of a puckering look. I had invisilign for 1.5 years… didn’t work, then went into braces for 2 years. I got them off a few months ago. I have bonding on my right front tooth. Since day one of getting them off, I have complained about my bottom two teeth putting pressure on that one tooth. The ortho said they’ll continue to move and should be okay. Said if it’s still having issues, my dentist can fix it with bonding. Dentist took a look, said that is not a bonding issue. Still did not fix the issue. the ortho said it’s because they are unevenly worn so he ground down the four bottom front. Still having issues and I feel uncomfortable about it. Could this be because they were never correctly aligned? When I was younger, I remember they put these rings around a few of my teeth in the back. This time, they didn’t. Not sure what it’s for. Thank you!

Do you require them to take surgery? My orthodontist said in order to match top teeth midline and bottom teeth midline, I must take jaw surgery or else it won't be possible. I denied taking jaw surgery. If I don't have a midline, I won't be looking for it.

While on brace’s journey how should i know that i will be at the stage when i will wear the power chain? I feel my teeth are stright now but i need power chain but the dr said you have to still wear the the strightning one whire and I didn’t really understand?

I have had my Braces for about 2 years and 7 months now and I just have one gap and the top near my fang that just won’t seem to close and yes I do wear elastics. I just want to know if I wanted to have them removed and have a veneer cover the gap would that cause a problem?

QUESTION: I had braces for four years in high school and I got them off and wore my retainer for about 9 years; lost it and forgot about it. In my 30’s I got braces again to fix a couple teeth that shifted back. Now I have been wearing my retainer for 12 years every single night, but this one tooth keeps wanting to turn slightly back to where it was before all of this started. I had asked my orthodontist if he could put a permanent retainer on those couple of teeth and he said no?!?! Now it’s turning slightly, but I’m not paying for braces again or anything! I’m wearing my retainer…..any thoughts? I’m very proud of my teeth and work in the dental field as an assistant so it bothers me a lot!
Hmmm. If it's a lower tooth I would just do a permanent retainer or a clear retainer as I think those are two good options

Hi i got my first wire changed today and when they removed the old wire i felt a little weird in my tooth like i was trying to get back to its old position does this happen everytime we get our wire changed or it gets better with every new wire . Does that happen when for the last time also when they remove the wire? Plz reply

Ok well my teeth are just a bit in front and my doctor said I can get it out in 18 months 😭 like it’s just a bit in front and before he said that it will take me 6 months and now 18 like wtf. And he said that i might need space for wisdom teeth and if that’s the case than it will take longer 😭. I seriously don’t think he is correct.
