Great video. I love going there n I woke up this morning; I wanted to see Houston and the Woodlands area. This is exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks.
Thank you for posting this. I lived in Houston for much of the 90s. I used to love to take the 610 loop and exit onto 45 south through downtown. My fantasy home was that high rise apartment building atop its own parking garage that hugged the freeway, next to the McD's, just north of the Baptist Medical Building (with the big cross) Houston is a wonderful city. I miss it. Thanks again.
I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, at the height of its growth boom in the late '90s. Why? I tired of Houston's sticky, sauna weather. Charlotte is a pretty city, with a small but quaint downtown. The city looks new because of that tremendous growth, but doesn't have the vibrant theatre district, incredible restaurants, and spectacular downtown. Plus, higher local taxes drove out some of the money from Charlotte proper to the bedroom suburbs. (We never learn.) And I wouldn't send my worst enemy's child to one of Charlotte's public schools. I moved again to St. Louis., which is a sad has-been. Now that I'm older, I hate cold weather and may come back to Houston to live again. But as it is often said and I have found true: you can't go home again. Thanks for asking, and sorry it took so long for me to reply.
You have made my day by letting me relive my jaunts to Houston when i was at Texas A&M 20 years ago. I remember when 290 ended as a freeway at Barker Cypress at Cy-Fair High School. When I left the area in 1997, the 45 reconstruction was going on full swing and they officially opened 290 to past Hempstead. No more stopping at the Fairfield Subdivision. Wish you could have shot the video before the Fred Hartman bridge was completed and you had to go through the two lane tunnel. Was wild.
My friend moved to Houston like 7 months ago. He says to me that my ass is coming down for a visit. I also grew up thinking that Texas was nothing but Cows, Bulls, Farms, Ranches, Oil Fields, Rattlesnakes, and JR Ewing. Now I know that Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, etc. are no different than NYC, Boston, Philly and Washington. Love the work Click. Keep driving and be safe.
this vid. is so cool! flippin great to see the old roads I used to cruise down, it takes some skills to drive in Houston, and Im from Detroit; where we invented driving....=)
Anyone that thinks all of Texas is farms & ranches is pretty ignorant. Just like anyone that thinks all of California is cities is ignorant. Houston is a great place to live.! I like it.
Say what you will about Houston being hot, sprawled, ugly, polluted, etc. - it's not for everyone, sure. But it's the fifth largest metropolitan economy in the US with one of the most robust job markets and by far the fastest growing one. It's also one of the most diverse cities in the country with all the big city amenities at a small town price. Scenery? I find some of these mega-freeway corridors as impressive and awe-inspiring as any mountain backdrop. Great city.
I visit family in Houston every July. Being from Canada the heat and humidity is killer but the city is vibrant at night plus the BBQ restaurants are good in Texas.
I miss living in Houston. It is a cool place to live if you're a go getter. I plan to move back soon. I see you passed Greenspoint twice. That is were I stayed. It's really not a bad city. Note I am from a Northwest State.
I love it when the interstates are put in that go right up to the metro area like here at 8:23. Or maybe the metro area grows out to the interstate. Love it regardless.
I can't wait till they reconstruct US 290. I have seen the plans and it's as impressive as the Katy Freeway. It is one of the last Freeways in Houston that has not been updated.
bad ass as always, the bar keeps being raised. i hope to take a road trip sometime soon and visit your fair city (and rest of the 'texaplex' as i heard it referred to in one other video i saw here recently)
So far I don't see anybody do Osaka styled loop fwy racing on 610 except myself. I'll return to 610 1,2AM with my Infiniti once I finish swapping out my serpentine belt.... Then it will be 120mph on loop fwy
That's why you don't leave your hometown, I had a friend who lived here 4 awhile, & she ended up getting homesick & wanted 2 return 2 L.A., 9 years ago, I almost left Houston 4 Battle Creek, MI thank god I decided 2 stay home in TX where I have been all of my life.
Thanks for the vid never driven htown much looks confusing as shit if you dont know the roads suprised didnt look like much traffic jams liked the end alot going thru the downtown seeing the skyline
45 is the craziest! Left lane for fast drivers and far right for slow? Nope! Not on 45! You have people driving fast and slow all over the place its so crazy, and I have seen the fastest drivers the most on 45 also. Been wanting to do something like this but the suspension and sway bar makes it a pretty bumpy ass ride, but taking corners is a blast. Still will probably try it in the next few months.
Does the Houston area sport some of the smoothest freeways in the nation, or do you have a really good auto w/ a really good camera? Here in Tucson our roads are falling apart, it's just sad.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 How about the 'can of worms' in Rochester New York? I drove thru a couple of times back in '91, thought I would go insane. I am from the central valley in California...all I got is highway 99, xD
Some say that Houston is in the South; I disagree. Certain populations share a Southern culture. I've lived in the South and it's very different in feel. The only part of TX that is Southern is E. TX. Htown is a Southwestern city. The 'South' is not historically ethnically, racially and religiously diverse like TX. They don't really have the major industries that TX has. I just moved here and noticed this much. So far I like it here even though it is HOT and the fwys are like mazes.
to jr7rockets, be prepared to pay for it, the average home in LA or San Diego goes for 300/sq ft, in otherwords a 1,500 sq ft house is like $450,000 dollars!
@NinezeroPlayer Yea aint alot to do in houston.... you have to know people.. I mean there is plenty of bars and theres clubs.. and the biggest food places in the world... but besides that theres not much... its to big out there for somebody to find somthing to do on there own. you have to make friends who know houston like the back of there hand and they will show you how to have fun! I love Houston ;) Its the 3rd biggest city in america and its so laid back
Dallas native. I love both our cities! Houston kicks ass.

I love you houston
This makes me happy.
Cant wait to go back Houston.....
Dallas it's beautiful and Houston too, big cities
Did you tape a camera on the front of your car/truck to get that good image without the blur of the glass?
So far I don't see anybody do Osaka styled loop fwy racing on 610 except myself.
I'll return to 610 1,2AM with my Infiniti once I finish swapping out my serpentine belt.... Then it will be 120mph on loop fwy

45 to 610 to I-10 all day baby
Lmao I used to run 115mph on loop 610 with my 2500cc Altima at 1AM.
This is definitely awesome! What kind of camera and/or stabilization method did you use? The camera seems to have no issues with night noise.
these videos are awesome!
how much are they sped up?
There's a really great view of downtown when coming from US 59 North.
I learn to drive on I-45 in Spring TX, how crazy is that?? But now I can drive anywhere!!!! :-)
I love it !
What's the name of that instrumental in the beginning?
It’s the THX sound
the first twelve years of my life were split between San Antonio and Houston. Though San Antonio is my hometown, i love Houston more!
great job, very well done
If u look at 290 now, it's hell to drive on it with a dat construction.
Great video, who sings this songs,I've been going crazy doing a search ,nothing found????
Thanks for the vid never driven htown much looks confusing as shit if you dont know the roads suprised didnt look like much traffic jams liked the end alot going thru the downtown seeing the skyline

Did you guys know that on 610, if I'm correct, has bewutiful lights on it's bridges? It's so fucking beautiful. I love my hometown.
What type of camera you use in your videos?
GOD I MISS HOUSTON!!!!!!!
I was hoping you took 59 South instead of 288 south off 45...would've loved to see that night time lapse
Shawn Dowdy and would complete the tour haha since he started in 59 south and 610 west loop
Houston TX for life ;)
45 is the craziest! Left lane for fast drivers and far right for slow? Nope! Not on 45! why the video is blurry at interchange?
I live in houston . And I like it

@ScrewdUPClickV2 i wouldnt say that for the wards...and south east of downtown houston..but the suburbs get pretty diverse
I'll go there next summer!!! =D
Love Houston
@ScrewdUPClickV2 How about the 'can of worms' in Rochester New York? I drove thru a couple of times back in '91, thought I would go insane. I am from the central valley in California...all I got is highway 99, xD
Houstonian approved.
This is pretty accurate on the life.
