Eddie Guerrero never portrayed Tiger Mask but he did portray Black Tiger II which was Tiger Mask's evil twin
What happened to Black Tiger I?
Tiger Mask is one of the most important ones on here, both because the character has been played by legends like Mitsuharu Misawa and Kota Ibushi, and because the original Tiger Mask, Satoru Sayama, pioneered the cruiserweight/junior heavyweight style in the 80s. Tiger Mask is also the main inspiration behind King in Tekken.
There is also an anime based on Tiger Mask, or is it the other way around, like how Jyushin "Thunder" Liger was based on an anime of the same name
Tiger Mask first appeared in his own manga named after him in 1968, then that same manga was adapted into an anime in 1969. The real life wrestler based on the animated high flyer debuted in 1981 for New Japan Pro Wrestling portrayed by Satoru Sayama.

I only RECOGNIZED the Mortis mask, I didn't have a name! I was sad though at how few of these they were certain on! It just shows how much WWE has influenced them as fans of this sport, maybe with more and more wrestling besides WWE coming to the surface they will branch out more!
@@JacksonOwex several were old wcw and I dont know how old these guys are but that was over 20 years ago. They are still entertaining though. And its still entertaining to play along. Just those 3 guys were some of my favorite wrestlers as a kid

La parka is a legendary Mexican wrestler. He is known as the chairman because he would always carry around a chair. He had a stint in wcw back in the 90s.
And his theme song was MJ's Thriller

I will say this showed you guys definitely didn't grow up with mid 90s WCW. Decent amount of these wrestled WCW in the 90s. But impressive nonetheless. Love these and look forward to them every week!
Loved this quiz, but I'm shocked at how little John and Dante know about WCW masked wrestlers. WCW made cruiserweight wrestling mainstream. You guys gotta know Psychosis, La Parka and Ultimo Dragon. CMON!!!

About Tiger Mask: they made a very popular anime in the 80s called Tiger Man, based on his mask. It was also very popular in Italy even for his Italian theme song

Fun fact since they referenced Mankind's mask: it was originally one of concepts for Undertaker to wear when his face got injured. Vince liked it but didn't think it fit Taker's character. Then he hired Mici but didn't want the Cactus Jack character. I believe he saw it as lesser because or whatever so he gave it to him instead. That's why Mankind's mask has so material around the nose.
Speaking of Undertaker, he was originally named "Kane The Undertaker". Vince liked it but Mark didn't. Mark tried to politely argue for just "The Undertaker" but didn't know that he got his way until he was on the way to the ring and heard the announcer saying it.

FOR REAL! That's all I was thinking the entire time this quiz was going. I don't know if they are too young to appreciate late 90s WCW cruiserweight wrestling. I'm 37, so I grew up on WCW. As soon as those masks like Psychosis, Ultimo Dragon and La Parka came up, I knew them immediately.

@@bryguy4446 also it hurt so much when Dante said about Liger “oh yeah he’s the guy who wrestle Tyler Breeze” lol sounding like that is his only exposure to Liger. Haha I guess they’re a lot younger than I thought. Or didn’t get into wrestling that far back.
@@IzakPhineasAbney yeah that was his only match in WWE, and I think it was to say he wrestled in WWE so it legitimized them putting him in the Hall of Fame. John and Dante are clearly like 2000's WWE and onward wrestling fans and don't understand the history. Liger is one of the all time legends of wrestling. Obviously he made his bones in Japan, but he had some great matches in WCW also. And yeah, I'm pretty sure at least John said in a previous video that he did not get into wrestling until 2005ish. Dante has said wrestling was his entire childhood, which makes me believe they are probably in their 20's if they don't know guys like Liger and Ultimo Dragon.

I don't think the Sin Cara mask was ever used outside of, or at least Pre-WWE so country of origin SHOULD be the United States! I could be wrong but I think the whole gimmick, mask included, was created by Vince!

To be fair, while there have been multiple Tiger Mask’s, they always went by Tiger Mask (albeit Tiger Mask 2 etc). So Tiger Mask would have been an acceptable answer either way.
And yes, definitely giggled at “low-key” Ultimo Dragon - and knowing Liger from his Tyler Breeze match as opposed to his being a legend 😂😂

While Rey did train in Mexico he was born and raised in the US. The last one should have been Curry Man or Excalibur for the lulz.

Yeah, these were SUPER easy. I was screaming at the screen when you didn't get Psychosis, Ultimo Dragon, Mortis, and La Parka. Granted, I am very old! Lol. I did get 2 wrong (Tiger King and Sami Zayn). Now, I think I'll have to send you an email so you can do Face-Painted wrestlers next. I'm not sure how you can do that without the wrestler, but YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN! 😁

Mortis and la parka both wrestled with WCW. When WCW was bought out, mortis dropped the gimmick and went by Chris Kaynon. For La Parka, there were two who wrestled under the name. The one in WCW quit and went on to doing independent wrestling, mainly with AAA. So happy I knew those two masks. Playing the old N64 NWO VS WCW revenge game. Psychosis was also in the WCW and he mainly wore the black and white horned mask, never knew he had it colored in black and red.
I'm proud of myself (and a little surprised) that Tiger Mask was the only one I missed. Thank God for 90's WCW luchadores haha

I was actually surprised they didn't know Ultimo Dragon, before I remembered that the WWE misused him (expecting him to be like Rey), Ultimo was past his prime and he slipped at Wrestlemania XX . . . so he was in WWE for like a year and that not everyone religiously tuned in for Nitro, Thunder and the WCW PPVs like I did. 😅 Honestly though, they should do a "Guess the WCW Wrestler" - throw in guys like Disco Inferno, Juventud Guerrera, Norman Smiley, Prince Iaukea, Vampiro, Stevie Ray and it might actually be challenging.
I only Missed Mortis, (never heard of that guy) but I am Mexican so I have the advantage

Masked wrestling and lucha is such a wonderful piece of the pro wrestling puzzle. Almost always a treat to watch a lucha match. Like late 90's. Japan has churned out a lot of greats too. You guys should definitely check out Starlight Kid: she is the only masked wrestler in Stardom and has that quick style and inspires her masks around Jushin Liger. She also puts a mask on the opponents she beats as a heel.

The country of origin thing was just really confusing. In the beginning it sounded like it was supposed to be where the mask was first used (which would make way more sense) but it ended up being where the Wrestler was from, which also confused apparently confused Dante with the El Generico question for example. The guy who created this should've just stuck with where the mask was fierst used or left it out completely, this way it was just bad
Generico debuted in Canada, so that one was right.
And then all the jumping around. Rey Mysterio is from the US but started wrestling in Mexico so Mexico was the correct answer. Ultimo Dragon is from Japan, but only started using the mask in Mexico, but Japan was the correct answer but Mexico was "also acceptable". It's just so inconsistent

by far this was an easy one for me. WCW had so many masked wrestlers in the cruiserweight division. I honestly swept the mask portion I think I got most of the Countries of Origin correct.
Got em all! Thankfully there weren't too many WCW luchadors on there like Villano IV, Blitzkrieg, or Super Calo. Yea I'm a luchador guy lol
Yeah, it had a weird mix of lucha libre/cruiserweights. Some didn't wear masks, like Silver King, Billy Kidman, and Shannon Moore, and others like Juventud who wore masks. The whole WCW Cruiserweight division was so underrated!
And I remember Blitzkreig. He had that crazy corkscrew splash that was never really seen on TV at the time.
blitzkrieg was so good. way ahead of his time. the cruiserweight division in WCW had some of the best matches that I've ever seen
Pyscosis was super underrated back in his day. His old ECW and WCW matches with Rey were insane. They always had wicked matches if you have time to look em up I highly recommend it.
