it was a good game, felt like the gophers stopped skating. is it just me, or did everyone forget what offsides is? coming from a gopher fan, that goal wasn't even close to offsides, no one had control when the puck entered the zone, and no one touched the puck till everyone was out of the zone. i'm so confused by these announcers, and all the people saying we were robbed. it was clearly on sides.

I had not washed the Michigan hockey game all year for some reason I don't think they were televised here and I don't have cable. Borrowed a buddies TH-cam TV app and it got to watch them beat Minnesota. 🎉🎉🎉

NHL rinks aren't (or weren't) even standardized. Boston Garden and Chicago Stadium (before United Center) were notoriously UNDERsized. They've been replaced so probably now all rinks are the same size. The Olympic sized rink idea in MN was a holdover from the Mariucci/Brooks era, when they thought the extra surface area allowed them to outskate their opponents. Then, the opponents got better and it didn't matter anymore. Glad to hear they are getting back to standard size but I do like the additional area behind the goals.

You have to admit that 4 times is a little fishy (at both ends) and the Gopher Goalie (who plays on the same sheet of ice all year has maybe knocked the net off 3 times all year). So…it is definitely warranted.

In terms of why Portillo kept doing it: First of all, dude is way bigger than Close(close is 5'10 and Portillo is 6'6), and secondly Close would be more accustomed to the way the goals are. I probably would be mad too if I was on the other side of this, but there is no way that this was any kind of cheating.
