This is the run that brought the Avengers back to prominence IMO . Busiek and Perez didn’t need to add Wolverine and Spider-Man to the book to make it a classic run, they did it the old fashioned way - great stories, great characterization and a nod to the book’s rich history, while also adding to it. *chef’s kiss!
Haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but this video confirms something I feared since you first shared the cover jackets on your socials. Many have already complained that neither DM jacket matches up with the solid red spine of the DM cover for Vol 1, but there's another ridiculous and egregious flaw there as well. For some reason, the bottom of the spine (the section with Busiek and Pérez's names) keeps the same style as the original printing -- EXCEPT, the reprint of Vol 1 back in 2023 had actually revised this design by changing the font and making the black box almost twice as tall as before. If anyone needs a direct visual comparison, just check out the earlier Near Mint video on Vol 1: th-cam.com/video/N5Rl01GjQd0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Lm5m76U6omyx448e&t=75 So why on earth has this reprint of Vol 2 completely dropped that and reverted to the original, shorter style? If they went to the effort of changing this specific element in the first place, then surely they'd remember to keep it for the next volume as well? All you need to do is put the two reprint volumes side by side and you'll spot instantly that they don't line up. How the hell did nobody at Marvel catch this??
Honestly I enjoyed Volume 2 more than volume 1. Omar is it possible to also show us the spines in the preview videos, so that we know which cover to pre-order. (i know it's up to Marvel but maybe you could ask)

Some times I wish we could see the spines with the covers. This book I think I would have gotten a different cover than I did if I knew what the spines looked like before hand.
Up until now I was gonna get the Davis cover, but that spine is...... well, it's certainly a choice. Might go with the standard edition instead, looks the best.

This one snuck up on me...Between this, Mystic, and Excalibur 3 it's going to be an expensive month. Although, admittedly, this comes after a loooooooong dry spell.
This and Omni Vol 1 need to always be in print and evergreen. Among the greatest Avengers runs of all time and my personal favorite. I love this era. Funny in regards to Ordway as i felt the same way growing up thinking he was an "older" artist back in the day.
I have never read any of this run(the shame I know😫) but have the Ultron story in a Partworks collection. So making sure I get to that in a few weeks or so.
I wish they had included Avengers Infinity in this. It might have been the only chance it could've been reprinted in an omnibus. But it was and is missed? Could it go into a Quasar omnibus perhaps? Would it work?
@@kirkphilbrick7458 Avengers by Roger Stern would be a great fit for it, unless Marvel decides to only focus on Stern’s classic run. I’m surprised they didn’t include it here though, because that issue with the Maximum Security x-over features the Avengers Infinity roster.

I feel the same way about the Busiek Perez run, it is the best run for the Avengers. It has everything that makes the Avengers great.
Now we need one more Omnibus to cover the gap between Busiek and Bendis (Dissassembled). Let's make that happen!

excalibur 3 i'm a little torn on. the best parts of excalibur for me were in vol 1 and 2 but if the price is right I'd get 3 too i guess
This run was my second non Xmen Omni and I went in almost blind... great read.

Looks like my plans to buy a volume 2 to match up with the red volume 1 spine are no longer happening. Maybe put that money towards a DC omnibus.
