    Cruising solo now after being married for 20 years. Solo cruising is fine whenever you can avoid the surcharge. Its freedom beyond belief. You only answer to yourself. You can do whatever you want. If you want to walk the deck in the middle of the night, you can! Eat when you want, nap when you want, swim when you want. Its great! Do not be afraid. There are plenty of friendly people to talk to if you want to say "Hi". Most people are friendly. Be optimistic!

    I love cruising solo! I always meet new people and have fun chit chatting and doing what I want when I want

    Of the five cruises I’ve been on, three have been solo. I love going solo too. No drama or expectations.

    I just started solo traveling this year. As a mom, wife and caregiver, I decided I needed to start spending a few days by myself to replenish myself. I went to Disney World alone and loved it so much that I booked a Disney cruise in a couple of months solo. I think sometimes for those who have to be around others all the time, its nice to take a break.

    travelling alone is the best, the smallest interactions with strangers make for the best memories! making me wanna go on a cruise lol awesome advise!

    I went on a solo cruise back in 2012 - I loved it. It's one of the best vacations I had. I loved being able to do what I wanted, when I wanted. The ship I was on had an adult only pool area so that is where I stayed while on the ship. For me, the only down side was being sat with strangers in the main dining room. It worked out - we all got a long well, but that was the biggest challenge for me.

      Same. I only got weirded out when I was dining, but that was only after covid protocols hit. Precovid I was with other solo people at my table and it was awesome. Last dec i was sat separately and then I felt conspicuous.

    Nothing wrong with solo traveling! Did it all the time until I met my best friend! Now we do everything together and it made me appreciate having someone to share things with even more!

    I’ve done many solo cruises and my advise is to ask yourself a few questions. Would you go to a movie alone? Would you take a class alone?
    Would you go on a weekend trip to visit family or a friend alone. It’s not for everyone.
    It happens to work out well for me. I do what I want when I want. I go to trivia and games. People are very caring and ask me to join them if I want to.
    I bring things. My kindle loaded with books. The only time I ever journal is when I travel. Sometimes I’m amazed at the things I wrote years ago.
    I always research the ports and find places I’ve never seen.
    Recently, I’ve challenged myself to do things I don’t usually do, like playing bingo, or going to the casino. Wine tastings are wonderful too.
    It’s only a rare occasion that I feel lonely.
    Oh! And I always book an inside cabin because it makes me want to leave and go out.
    And of course I do enjoy a trip with another person.
    The single supplement is definitely a challenge, but I am constantly looking for a good deal. Also using a good travel agent works too.
    Happy travels everyone!
    Do what works for you!

    I want to do a solo cruise at some point. I wouldn’t have to worry about being dragged to some activity I didn’t want to attend and go where I wanted at a port instead of being dragged to stuff I have no interest in.
    The only downside would be being paired with people I might not like at dinner.

    That's like unintentially, (the other party couldn't make it). I took a solo trip for the first time to Disney. Other than eating at restaurants, I actually LOVED it. Usually, it's who wants to do this, what ride, go here , go there. I got to choose what I wanted to do. Not used to that. But getting a chance to see things that I NEVER get to see; it was great!

    Thanks for an honest take. I’m not a fan of solo traveling in general, I never enjoyed it, so I’ve been debating a solo cruise, but would be my first. Thanks for validating those of us who don’t like solo traveling.

    I’ve solo traveled for 50 years. But it’s time to end or reduce the single supplement that make my preferred form of travel excessively expensive. Besides, there are hundreds of fantastic new friends to meet on every trip.

    Cruised a few times solo after my sister passed a I have to say I enjoyed it very much. Yes it cost more but it is nice to not worry about having to make make a schedule that works for everyone. Going on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii in October with a cousin and I think it being a longer cruise it will be much better with someone. Happy cruising.

    Royal Caribbean also has solo cruiser cabins in its newer ships, I believe the Quantum class and possibly the Oasis class.

    I feel like I would love to cruise alone but I know I would feel anxious to be seated by myself at dinner and even more anxious to be seated with others. So it’s an argument with myself.

    Took my first Disney cruise in May with my oldest daughter (8) and she spent so much time in kids club I felt like a solo traveler lol it was nice for shows but during the day it did make it kinda lonely. I will definitely bring a friend or family member next time since I know kids won’t be with me besides meal times lol down side to being a single mom there is no adult to talk to. It was a great learning experiences. Will cruise again for sure but do it differently the next go around.

    Royal Caribbean also has a limited number of solo cabins on some ships but it’s not necessarily that much different in price between a regular cabin paying the single cruiser supplement.

  • @travelingfool9096
    @travelingfool9096 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    sometimes, and definitely for me, if you wait for company, you will never go anywhere. Sure a shared experience is better in some ways, but solo is better in other ways. 3 cruises all solo, road trips and national parks by myself, sure. just get out. no matter what they say you will pay as much or almost as much as 2. solo cabins in NCL ( id that pastime on Encore) are just about same price and I've seen them more than an inside cabin.

    I've been researching cruiselines to replace my DLC addiction after vac mandates. MSC seems to be a good fit me. I'm doing a single 3 day on the Seashore in April with 2 days on Ocean Key to check things out for a seven or 8 day out of Manhattan with family in the fall of 23. Also, it's a little cheaper as a single in double occupancy because you only pay port fees for one.

    • @mindyschocolate
      @mindyschocolate 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very few cruise lines don’t require vaccines, and even then those cruises are only for 10%, so you’re still rolling the dice even with MSC. Good luck.

      Not on Disney, though. They charge for 2 cruisers even if you are solo.

    • @Londwar
      @Londwar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, if they say, for example, "$1250 per person, double occupancy", you will have to pay $2500. Look carefully at their wording to see if the cost they are showing is per person or for the room.

    You always make it so much more enjoyable by thinking to switch your camera angles, especially when it's just talking and not overlaid with pictures. It's like the difference between a public speaker who is monotone and one who uses modulation. Love it

    Do you think it’s easier to do a solo cruise if it’s a shorter one vs like 7 days? Looking for a quick quite getaway and I love cruises. Can’t wait to see what ship you get on next! 💕🛳🌊
