Nice. One of the greatest misconceptions about the music of P-Funk is that it's Casper playing all the bass. He's playing plenty that's for sure, but nothing could be further from the truth. And he only toured as the actual road bassist for a very short period in the early 70s. It's time to spotlight Boogie, Skeet, Lige, Donnie, Billy. And of course Electro Cuties is the funktastic Ali Brothers!
Another criminally underrated P-Funk bass player is Cordell Boogie Mossoon. He probably wrote and played some of these. I think Junie Morrison just did the bass on One Nation and Knee Deep himself; GC looped his demo three times and let all the others add stuff on top.
Thanks for the P-Funk shoutout. Bootsy only played on one of the songs that you highlighted “Uncle Jam”. I (Rodney “Skeet” Curtis) played bass on and co-wrote “Oh I”
Wow! It's a real pleasure to hear that from you. Like I said to others in this blog, it's difficult to have real infos on who played these tracks on those records. I think YOUR lines are super funky, and I surely make some other tutorials on this material. I cannot modify this video anymore, but will add a comment below it. Thanks a lot "Skeet" - 👍🙏👏

Thanks for your infos. I've been searching this morning for more details about the Funkadelic bass players but it looks a bit confusing - many bass players alterned and even on the cover of "One Nation Under a Groove" it says - both Rodney SKEEK Curtis and Bootsy Collins. Hard to find the right information! What do you think about it?
@@Matesp It’s quite easy to tell the difference between the bassist Rodney SKEET Curtis is a more jazzier Jaco type player, while Bootsy is more mu-tron based and not quite as slick as Skeet.
Just to clarify: Only “Uncle Jam” was played by Bootsy. “Oh, I” was played by Rodney Skeet Curtis. I believe Electro-Cuties” was played by the Parlet bass player Jimmy Ali. “One Nation” features keyboard bass played by Bernie Worrell. “Knee Deep” features keyboard bass that I believe was played by Walter Junie Morrison, who co-wrote the song.
FUN FUNK FACT ...BOOTSY DID NOT PLAY BASS ON (NOT JUST) KNEE DEEP, HE ACTUALLY PLAYED THE DRUMS, THE BASS CREDIT GOES TO THE SONGS ARRANGER WALTER "JUNIE" MORRISON FOR THE FLAWLESS SYNTH BASS HE BLESSED US WITH.
Wow, that's an interesting fact!.... I realize so many different bass players played on Funkadelic's records and it's difficult to understand exactly who was who - because on most of the records covers, there is no detail on every track. Thanks a lot for your tip Dick !
Hi Stanley, you're right, Funkentelechy is a very funky groove and I'll probably considere it for a "Funkadelic/Parliament" part II. My tutorial was just an idea of that kind of music we had in the Seventies and we all should remember!! Thanks for your comment 😉

Grazie Giorgio! Non ho messo Flashlight per due motivi: uno perché è su un disco dei Parliament, secondo perché “stilisticamente” è molto simile alle ultime due che ho messo ( quelle suonate con il Mutron - che io no ho! ). A presto 😉
@@Matesp Fantastic! Thank you (: Keep up the funk! BTW, the Parliament-Funkadelic album "Tear the Roof Off 1974-1980" has some great bass lines for you to unleash (;

Music is to be LIVED. Watching Bootsy, Funkadelic, Mothership Connection, George Clinton, especially Atomic Dog, is to be experienced, danced to, enjoyed, not ruined by someone who should be teaching face to face. Sorry, you play well enough, but there is no real electricity.
Hi Dave, I understand what you mean, and I agree with your concept of live music. I 'm myself really inspired by watching and listening to "live" artists and I always come home with something emotional, but on these videos I'm only trying to show how to play and catch some notes to help bass players who need a pattern - thats all!

Very true especially Cordell. During the mid to nearly late 70's when P-Funk peaked he was the touring bassist & great
