That Ford is in incredibly good condition and the engine sounds very happy. I built my pair of 1957 high performance yblock Fords with T85 OD trans, tracloc 4:11s, front disks, bigger front sway bars, rear sway bars, new rear springs with extra 2nd leaf, track bars and panhard rods. Now they ride like very fast lumber trucks which is how most newer cars ride. No one would buy a car that rides like that in those days because comfort was more important than handling but those cars leaned badly in corners. Still is to me so I also have a 59 T85 OD bird and only added long tube headers, front disks and rear sway bar. Square birds don't lean much because they're very low but it's better with the rear sway bar. Its been my daily driver for 11 years now. I consider it a perfect cruiser and it's the newest car I own. BTW, I still use hydraulic shocks because I don't like jounce.

I've thought about these for both of my 64 galaxies, especially the 2 door, my 4 door has add on helper leafs and they help a bit. New gas shocks on both, get a person or two in the back seat and they both like to hit the bump stops going over railroad tracks and big bumps. Both cars still have original leaf springs but ride height is good and both have new polyurethane leaf spring bushings which helped a ton how both of them drive and handle. I was unsure if adding these was going to make the rear end ride like a 3/4 ton truck or not, but glad to see they work well!

The growling of these V8 's are beautiful! I'm so glad I have one.
Also, Reverend, I contacted Thunderbirds Southwest and talked to Lance. He recommended KYB 5517 shock for the rear. Thoughts? Or why did you choose "these" shocks? I'm curious.

I chose these because they are a stiffer option that original shocks. I like to horse around with the car, drop the clutch, etc. OEM shocks have too much give in my opinion.

@@HotRodReverend Would you recommend the shocks you have for a better ride or the ones that Thunderbirds Southwest suggested?

Did these shocks, being a coil over assist, raise up the rear of the car any? And was the ride a bit stiffer as compared to the ones you replaced? GREAT video Rev! Excellent information!

Roughly an inch, but both the leaf springs and these shocks are new, new shackles and bushings. I would imagine things to settle down a bit soon.

@@HotRodReverend thats good to know. I'd actually like to raise mine up an inch or so. Not into the dragging tail look, or cutter coming up on plane... lol
Think I need to grab a pair before they disappear from inventory! Thanks!
