Enjoyed watching this video! Reminded me of when I was a kid, my Pap would take me to explore Fort Ligonier, off rout 30. The design of these types of Forts always amazed me. We also enjoyed exploring the Battle field of Bushy Run "North America's forgotten conflict" which is only about a half hour ride from Fort Ligonier, towards Pittsburgh. It made a nice day outing.
Another great video in this series. I am attempting to locate all of the Fort locations in this war, and many times you have been a big help in my search. Fort Hyndshaw has been one I have tried to find many times with little sucess. It is great when you can pinpoint the exact location of a certain fort, but I have come to realize it is just as much of a reward to sometimes get within a quarter mile of the location. Must have been horrific to be part of one of those massacre's and or taken prisoner/hostage/slave/etc. Reminds me of the best J Wayne movie ever produced, (just my opinion) The Searchers. I know it was not the same as the French and Indian wars.
The fort at Depuy was near the old house, not at the exact location. We think Hyndshaw was near where the Bushkill Creek goes into the Delaware River on a hill.

McDade trail is just made to allow foot and bike traffic a place to go instead of using River Road. Park Service recreational trail, connects, or will, to other locations in and near the park. You missed our newest national park, Cherry Valley NWR. You'll have to come back!

Love how you add the music in the background in this video and your highway/road videos. The sound of the fiddle and banjo brings me back to those times. This video has great flow. It's okay, you could have gotten out and looked around at fort depew. It's private, but they don't usually hassle visitors. Plenty of time share rentals, so visitors are common. The Delaware is right behind the fort.
Too bad that you had bad weather up there in the Poconos, hope you return someday when the weather is nice and show some of those waterfalls in the Poconos.
Cliff I really enjoy this series. How many men would be stationed at these forts? I presume they would be a combination of militia and British regulars? Happy Thanksgiving!
it really depends . could be as much as a full regiment , sometimes more sometimes less . But you have to remember military units we’re almost never at full strength especially during this period . So a full regiment of regulars might only field a few hundred men
There was a massacre of British troops and militia along the Delaware river by a pile of rocks during the F&I War that I was at in the mid-70s. I remember a plaque with a recording that explained what happened, but I don't remember anything else about it.
I am envious in the fact that y'all's speed limits are not ludicrous speed like they are in Texas. You can actually see things as you go down the roads, I live in a rural area and even the farm to market roads are 60-75mph hour speed limit and on little two lane roads it is hard to look around, you have to very closely pay attention to what others are doing.

No one knows where Ft. Hyndshaw was exactly. We might have come close to finding the location.
