To date, Skip has entertained millions of people around the world as the former Lead Vocalist for "Kool & the Gang" and as Lead Vocalist for "The Dazz Band", which has won them a GRAMMY Award for the song "Let It Whip". Other achievements include Platinum and Gold Records received with the two major recording groups, a current total of 29 Albums (seven with Kool & the Gang and 14 with The Dazz Band), MOBO Awards, R&B 'Song of the Year', six consecutive Top 100 Albums, two Top 100 Singles and producer of Pop, R&B and Jazz Albums to name but a few.
Skip's tenor-voice has a warm eclectic style developed through the years under the guise of maestro Stevie Wonder. Skip lists Miles Davis, Sammy Davis and Donny Hathaway as major influences on his musical development. His love of Jazz started at the age of eleven, and was enhanced when he won "Outstanding Trumpet Soloist" at the Monterey Jazz Festival whilst in high school. His first solo Jazz CD, 'Miles High' feature Ronnie Laws, Wayman Tisdale, Al McKay, Rickey Lawson and Bruce Conte. His current Jazz CD "Formal Dining" features Tom Schuman of "Spyro Gyro".
He is also involved in three allstar-bands featuring the lead singers of top selling bands performing as one band - from the classic rock era - "Starship & Friends" (Starship's Mickey Thomas and Toto's Bobby Kimball) as well as "Rock & Pop Masters" (Orleans' Larry Hoppen, Santana's Alex Ligertwood and Romantics' Wally Palmer) and from the funk era - "Masters of Funk" (Con Funk Shun's Michael Cooper, The Bar-Kays' Larry Dodson, Ohio Player's Sugarfoot) to name but a few.
