I'm also a pilot in Georgia. I flew in Maui when we visited and was way out of my element there. Flying the plane was the easy part, but the radio work was crazy. Not only did you have to know all the names of local landmarks, but you also had many frequency changes over short distances. I ended up just flying with a flight instructor instead of getting signed off for a solo. We also tried to land at Kalaupapa, but we had a strong headwind and came in too high and even after a slip. We just did a go around after making it halfway down the runway without touching down.
Maui eats light craft, boat & air. Despite great climate, the only aircraft in the air are being flown by high-time pilots. Not the place for low-time, occasional pilots, like me.
@@cottonn_candyy I replied to you, but it looks like YT didn't like my imgur link to a pic of when I attempted my landing at Kalaupapa. I have played Minecraft since it was beta and PC only when I was in college. It is a great game. I have also been a pilot for about 2.5 years now and have flown several different models, including the 150. I actually flew a 172 in Maui. I'm not sure why you think having a Minecraft pfp would preclude me from being a pilot...
This video was very special to me. N3723V was my first airplane 1987. I flew her all over CA to WA and OR, to Vegas...probably over 700 flight hours. I sold her to the FBO at KCCR, and they painted her red/white. Origally she was yellow. I was second owner. 23V made it into AOPA magazine (5 pages!) as a featured plane. She ended up thru several owners, and then was shipped to Hawaii. Wonder how much time is on her now, and did she fly good and tight? I regret selling, but at the time I upgraded to a Beechcraft. Your "first plane" that you own is always special and seeing your video was very nice. I'll add this to my album with lots of pics thru the years I had her.
I just got back from my first cross country (almost!) flight HNL-MKK-HNL and as soon as I get home I see this video! I hope you had fun flying around our islands!
This is so cool! Loved your video! I'm a Student Commercial pilot here in Mexico and this reminded that here in MMGL (Guadalajara) they recently also implemented these preset arrival and departure procedures as well, only difference here is that we don't get those crazy gusty winds here, we only gotta watch out for wake turbulence.
Assuming they link an aircraft broker service (or some sort of service to sell and buy aircraft) assuming they own it, and that is their source of income.
That is awesome that you flew a 150 to Maui. I own and fly a Bonanza A36, a Piper Arrow and a Cessna 150. Absolutely LOVE flying the 150 and you’ve inspired me to do the island hop in a 150 next time we’re in Hawaii. That video was so cool!
This is amazing to watch because this is literally where I learned. I currently fly at George’s Aviation, which was right next door to pacific flight Academy. Keep up the great work!
Currently a student pilot in Honoululu getting ready for my first solo cross countries across the islands next week. Nice video and cool timing for me to watch!
Well I bet you just jumped up 10 to 20k subscribers with this one video alone. I hope it paid the entire trip for you in ad revenue!! Keep these flights up buddy, it's definitely a great way to add more subs and have some great vacations along the way.
This reminds me of when I lived in Singapore for several years, I took the time to get current and do some flying there. I actually didn’t fly I SG but would drive into Malaysia and fly from Johor Bahru. I had one memorable flight to Tioman Island which is a tricky place to get into. I’m now in the ATL area like you…
Excellent vlog -- thank you. Its amazing to see the way you two use a simple 2-place 150. Interesting to see you flew 3723V -- I flew its sister ship, 3767V when I was learning to fly - back in 1974 ;-)
I’m a CFI at HNL. I see this to be a common issue with the VFR Arrivals. Departures are cake. They’re really big on folks overflying taxiway G/L at 1500’ unless youre cleared to land or if instructed to do so. Great flying

Absolutely loved getting my ppl in hawai Ive flown a 172 into honolulu a few tines during training from maui. You are flying in my islands flew there in the 70's got my license commercial, instruments, and multi-engine have fun and let us know how you like the island flying 😊
Cool to watch! Really enjoyed watching this. Been living in Los Angeles since 1989, originally from Molokai, top-side. So the side that isn't Kalaupapa. Always saw it from above (top-side), never went down to Kalaupapa my entire time growing up there.
I own a piper warrior ii based in kona and am teaching my wife to fly currently. We are going to make a TH-cam channel of her progression and our adventures flying around the islands thanks so much for the inspiration and epic video.
Ok not gonna lie…I sit here on my lunch break with a gourmet meal of Jesus Chicken watching the latest video. I am following along however there is a slight glare from the sun on the screen but nothing too terrible. As you were making the check out flight I was listening as she was telling you what was coming up, where things were etc and I am sitting here thinking 💭 WOW Lanie is getting really good at the airplane stuff! It was then I realized “she” was an instructor I assume! 😂. No love lost, I know Lanie could do the job just as well! I really like the format of this video, the graphics help highlight the flight and what to expect, overall a 10/10 for sure!
My neighbors at Cedar Ridge or others I know south of Atlanta tell me to sell my C150 for a tail wheel plane... You guys on the other side of Atlanta make me not feel crazy for liking it... Plus makes a great platform for teaching...

I got my instrument rating at Kona in 2000. Your vid is proof it's still beautiful. But, my videos from back then are 480p (maybe). ha ha Thanks for posting all of this!
Where is the video completing your St Barths training? I met Maxime while in St Barths and he said you went back to finish it, hopefully you have video of it.
The ocean floor east of Maui is littered with light aircraft who didn't make it all the way. Simply running out of fuel due to headwinds, and / loss of oil pressure are cited causes. one guy got to use his ballistic chute. Not sure a 150 could carry enough fuel, with generous reserve.
Fly Me To The Fun has some of the best editing of any aviation channel on TH-cam. So much fun to watch.

You aren't flying a real C150 unless something doesn't work or is broken.
LOL facts
True facts! I can confirm with the same experience! No matter how fast the planes are that I usually fly these days, I still like the C150.
LOL thats true like every minute i get a notification from fr24 about squawk 7600 or 7700 sometimes 7500
