bands like Raein, PG.99, City of Caterpillar, Portraits of Past, Orchid, etc. - completely and utterly redefined what the genre "emo" meant to me. real emo until death
So glad this is now on Spotify but in my heart this video will always be special and will always be the true way to listen to this song! This is and always will be my tigersuit.
@chaos is meme That's definitely true in the US. From personal experience, Raein didn't get the mentions of the classic American bands. Even from people who knew the genre pretty well.
Recently rediscovered this band. I remember I found about this band back in 2010/2011 through the French band, Daïtro. I recommend yall to listen to them.
I agree 100%. Genres are such a huge barrier for people to listen to awesome bands. They hear some amazing music but then they are like "wow this is xyz, I must not listen to this because it is a horrible genre!" This is a very very bad direction that our society is going.
FrobblOo What if someone is like "wow this is xyz, I really like listening to this and I may as well classify it into a genre for my own personal organization." You know, since it IS a specific genre, and almost everything fits into a specific genre whether we like it or not... Genre's are ok. It's not degrading to yourself or anything to decide you like a certain style of music, or to decide you think a band is a certain genre. Don't worry about it dudes, it seems like you are the ones truly missing out on the good jams while worrying about all the politics of the communities who enjoy them... Live and let live, you know?
Braid Sure that's ok. I do that myself, because otherwise I would not be able to organize my huge music collection. But I meant something different. I was talking about the people who don't listen a certain band because the majority counts that band to a certain genre that has a bad image or something. That's just stupid.
i often find myself stuck in either this or that. the only way to describe this phenomenon is with a genre. and this is if i'd even describe it, no one cares what your really listening to out there in the big wide world.
well, people will always disagree on those aspects, but naming genres is in fact important. if it wasn't by that, i wouldn't be here now listening to this song i really appreciate. it makes people's life easier, it's a great way to find out more bands you may like, so it's a good thing for people to get to a consensus of what genre a song is. if every person call something different then it won't work. it's not that everyone have to accept a name but it's good if the most part agree with it

@TBYGDproductions The Ancient Greeks covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese. The Romans developed placenta, a sheet of flour topped with cheese and honey and flavored with bay leaves. Modern pizza originated in Italy as the Neapolitan pie with tomato. In 1889 cheese was added.
Screamo is a genre of music which predominantly evolved from hardcore punk, among other genres, in the early 1990s. The term "screamo" was initially applied to a more aggressive offshoot of emo that developed in San Diego in 1991, which used short songs that grafted
@Szaam The reason it's there is because people watch this video and then search up that video. I think it's a good thing those kids are discovering this band.

@edu990 It isn't proven who discovered America first. Amerigo Vespucci thought he discovered North America, but the Vikings landed in Canada much earlier.
@Crush40pwns finally someone says something intelligent... i hate it that everyone just has to call any band he doesn't like a wannabe-band, and how people always try to say that all they listen to is great and the rest is bad. i mean, common, if you wouldn't know what band it is you wouldn't even mind! and maybe the little difference between two bands is enough to say that it is not one's taste, but why does everyone say it is shit if they just don't like it?
remember when I found this band on Myspace when they just released this track on some edgy as fuck cassette release lool loved it. had it as my profile song for like 6 months loooooool
No, I was accentuating the pronunciation of the abbreviated, "Laugh out loud." To put emphasis on the fact I am laughing at myself. But thanks anyway, Mr. Jew
I think modern screamo and emoviolence are two useful terms separating two different generations and with that, styles of music, but sometimes people take it too far with the music genres. Pretty soon it will be one genre for every band, and only a select few things can represent a genre by itself, like cowboy bebop, and the pixies.
Ironically, there's many forms of Metalcore. I've heard the term post-metalcore which is Metalcore + Post-hardcore which makes more since to most modern metalcore bands. Screamo took influence from post-hardcore and post-rock but A LOT OF IT came from emo and hardcore.

Why does the genre of the band matter so much to you guys? They're a good band, whether they're Screamo, Skrams, Hardcore or whatever. They're good..

Emoviolence is screamo mixed with powerviolnce. It's much heavier than this. It almost sounds like grindcore or black metal sometimes.
