- Learn how to do applique on stretch materials and still maintain the stretch! This technique is great especially for superhero costumes! Today I'm doing it on a pair of leggings I made!

Thankyou I am using a velvet appliqué and sewing onto power mesh is that ok to use this method also any tips on sewing in to mesh? Lightenbolt stictch again? Thanks
Hi !! How come the sewing is still stretchy ? since the thread is not stretchy?? 😅 I want to sew on a knit and I'm trying to figure out how not to loose stretchiness ^^
I bought applique from Amazon, they are like patches for clothes. I need to add it to my daughters unitard. How would I do that? Thank you!
Really informative! Instant subscribe ❤️
Yay! Thank you!
I know this sounds silly, and forgive I'm just starting to embellish my work. Are the appliques also spandex?
I'm trying to attach a polyester satin gold (no stretch) applique on top of my stretchy polyester spandex dress (Deedlit). I was planning on doing a needle turn applique method. But I was worried it would damage the stretch material. Do you have any recommendations for terrible shooting that? The gold pleather by yaya han looks great!
This is from a long time ago but in case this reply helps anyone: If you want to applique a non stretch fabric to a stretch fabric the key is to stretch the base fabric (the one that you will apply your applique to) to the size and shape of the person who will be wearing it before pinning the NON stretch applique to it. You can either wear the garment yourself and hand baste your appliques on while you're wearing it (be careful not to hurt yourself), or you can put the garment over a pillow or cardboard in the similar dimensions it will be worn to before hand basting the appliques to it. Then it's a case of removing the garment with your appliques in place and then sew your permanent stitch. If you do not stretch the base layer before you add your non stretch appliques you will run into fit problems and have tears in seams etc Hope this helps!
Thank you for the informative video! So I've never done applique but I think it may be the perfect technique for my needs of adding gold 4-way stretch 100% polyester detailing to an embossed 4-way stretch polyester, One question though: when reading the instructions it seems to indicate that you are supposed to use only on the "wrong" side of the fabric, so does using it this way on the "right" side affect the fabric at all?
I've never had issues with using the iron on stabilizer on the right side of fabric. If you're concerned do a test before using it on your project!
Where did you get your zip up coat?! I must have! Lol. Great tutorial
Haha I got it from Black Milk clothing years ago. And thank you!
Helllo, What kind of fabric is the gold part? Thanks
Hello it's the gold pleather from the Yaya Han collection at Joanns.
@@EveilleCosplay Do you know if rhinestones will "stick" to the gold pleather if applied with the proper glue, i.e., gemflex, E6000, etc?
@@thomasvrasmussen2814 I have not personally tried glueing gems to the fabric, I would recommend testing glues.
Does the heat from the iron not damage the fabric? I'm trying to do this with 4-way stretch performance fabric, but the care instructions said, "cool iron".
If you are concerned with the heat on the fabric do a test before doing it on your final project. I always recommend you test. I have never had issues with my stretch fabrics.
Hi do you sew just on inside of raw hem or along it so catching bot sides thanks
Does it matter what type of needle and thread?
An appropriate needle and thread for stretch fabrics.
Dose the applique stretch too?
As long as you use a stretch stitch!
Thank you beautiful!
