Intrepid guy, “Our tents don’t balloon out.” Immediately demos and shows the tent ballooning out and doesn’t even bother to tuck in the sides. 😂 Pretty sweet tent though. Definitely solved a major problem.
That Intrepid tent will be perfect for me. The height, the multi entrance, the low profile, the easy fold up, and on their website the weight is 155lbs. EDIT: Little did I know that proto type FSR tent was the tent I would go with 😂 super stoked to get it. The Intrepid tent has a lot of features, but the FSR is 110lbs and I got it for $2200.

Love the Intrepid rooftop just not the price BUT I can see why with the R&D going into it. I think we are going to see more and more inflatables in the rooftop space hit the market yet in high wind it wouod need to be solid pole technology being way up over 2 metres off the ground catching those cross winds
How about making one that will fit a jeep gladiator so you can have your bed area closed in to have you cooking and gear blow you with a outside shower system
I’ve been trying to reach Intrepid for a minute. They’ve answered my email and apologized for the late response. Unfortunately I think that the marketing department for them are not doing a great job as there is little information on the tent in comparison to other tent manufacturers. My last email to them was to please give me a call so that I can continue with my purchase after a few last questions and the response I received was “I’ll try to carve out some time”. I’ve never heard back. I was in love with the intrepid and that phone call was going to lock in my purchase. My back up was skycamp so they will get my call next week. I am not comfortable with a company that can’t provide a contact number let alone not respond to a customer who is interested.
It was cool to see Talon Sei here. He seems like a cool, chill dude. All 3 of these RTT looked really cool to me. I especially like innovative things like the hard wall tent/storage box and the roof hinge on the Intrepid. The FSR looked good too, and I would guess there is probably a market out there for the thin and sleek tent style. If there are ultra light-weight backpackers, there have to be ultra light weight and low profile car campers.

You all should look at Redtail overland totally hard shell hard sides tent best roof top tent I’ve seen. It’s got heat, solar, lights, made of carbon fiber, has real windows.
Yea they are awesome. I actually interviewed the owner at the 2021 Overland Expo Mountain West and we did a full walk around. It is amazing and next level expensive!

I like the intrepid tent but would much rather see the struts build internally, for better aesthetics, aerodynamics and to prolong the life of the struts. With all the thought that went into this test, I wonder why they choose to go with externally mounted struts.
I would have to assume it’s because of the way they use extruded aluminum as the base. They use the top channel to mount the fabric and the side channels to mount the hardware for the shocks. Just my opinion from looking at it, not from anyone that works their.

There's a place down in Victoria just outside of Melbourne that seems to stock a decent selection of the Yankee gear. Checked out your channel, looks like you have some fun getting out and about! I picked you for a Queenslander, but looks like you might be a bluey. My setup is a lot more compact than yours. One day I'd love to do up a dual-cab, but until then got my family suv. Doing as much as I can with it, I.e. small raise to the suspension, light weight RTT, and a few small choice luxuries like gas hot water and awning for shade; but I've got nothing on your setup. Still, it gets me by :) All the best with your adventures!
Intrepid guy: "The price is about middle of the market at $4000". Thinking he should bring in a bean counter as another partner with the engineers. Even still - my favorite RTT - but no way I'll ever pay $4k when you can buy a very nice RTT from the likes of TopOak for $1300. And his closing demo was a complete fail.

@@ottouring You're not wrong, RTT's cost an arm and a leg for a good one; although I find our range availability is starting to get pretty good these days.
Still, it gets me by :)
All the best with your adventures!

19:20 All 4 of these haven't hit the market soooooo - isn't contributing to innovation in the market lol.
Okay that is deep! What came first 🐓or 🥚
The anti shanty is garbage. I’m sorry but it is.
Absolutely 0.o
Very niche market for that one!
Why don’t i see roof top tents on jeep 2 door wranglers?
Hi from Australia
Just came across your comment
Looks like you guys have a much broader selection of rtt than we do. Unfortunately rtt are so expensive.
I have base model here and love it.
Take a look at my set up and how we set up our trucks here in Australia.
Cheers
