That is very well kept car. I have a 65 Montclair 4 door that is also in showroom condition which I take to car shows all the time. I don't see any others around like mine.
Beautiful car!!!!!!!!!! 3 things though. I would want carpet the trunk & put the same wheel & tire to have a matching spare. The 429 & 460 were the 385 series motor. 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 410, 427 & 428 were the FE series. The 351 Cleveland was on the 351M & 400M series. Largest passenger car motor was the 462 MEL found only in Lincoln's. largest motor built by Ford was the 534 MEL used in HD trucks.
I ended up buying this car from them for 13500. Drove it everyday for 2 yrs. Drove it to Vegas and California zero issues. Moved to Phoenix in August in 100+ degrees from Portland never once overheated. Ended up dropping 20k in the engine completely rebuilt the 460 because it was so reliable. It now makes over 500hp and 700+ lbs torque. Still own it, and it's exactly the condition as this video other than the engine upgrade. Moved from Phoenix to St. Louis drove it all the way here still zero issues. It's been a great car, turns alot of heads. I'm lucky to own such a clean piece of classic car history.
@@pjesf I will be posting an events calendar on my website westcoastcollectorcars.com as soon as can get it. I know for sure the Portland Swapmeet is happening this year ( It was cancelled in 20, and 21 due to Covid 19). It's typically the 2nd week in April, so you won't want to miss that. Please keep an eye on the website for additional car show listings. Thank you. Rich
I'm actually looking at the same car, except that it has the original 390 2brl. This video very well may sell me on the trade! Thanks very much for posting!
thank you the reason I ask is because I bought one of these cars without a engine or trans the car is just beautiful I couldn't pass it up but thank you thou your car is really nice
It's definitely different, never seen one until now The body lines make this car look amazing Inside could've been done a little better But for what it is, I'd drive it with no Complaints...mercury, hmm Definitely a car an brand To pay attention too
Absolutely gorgeous throughout. Beautiful lines and trim work. I just can't take my eyes off of this car. The new Olympic white color is perfect for this body style and your new wheels complement the entire look quite well. The 460 engine in your Marauder must be a high compression version to put out 385 hp. Within a year or two government mandated emission regulations would force compression ratios down industry wide to as low as 7 or 8 to 1. That would lower horsepower on the very large 460 engine to only about 250.
thank you for the nice complement! It was a very clean car, It sold a few months back to someone about an hour north of me. I would have to check my notes on the 460, but it sure did run well. Thanks again, I appreciate you watching the video. Rich
I have a 1967 mecury parklane brougham breezeway all original everything. Oregon car never left the state. 410 4v marauder only 1300 made for 1 year power back window in a four door car
I believe that 460 V8 was considered a Police Interceptor Engine. Indiana State police used Mercury's. One big thing I saw wrong when you opened the door the manufacturer's information plate was missing. That is the plate that has Vin number, date of manufacture, codes for equipment and color. The Marauder was not only the model, but also the engine, a Marauder 390, or a Marauder 427. This is not a vintage car with all that modification. It is OK to upgrade the engine and transmission, but Cousin Vinny's girl friend would have trouble as an expert witness Identifying this car in court. Shouldn't mess with a vintage car body though. Should not put a hood scoop on a Full-size Mercury. They just didn't have them. The wheels originally had wheel covers with the Mercury logo in the center. Other thwn that nice car.
I didn't restore, or build the car. I just sold it for someone...Several years ago. It was a very nice car in spite of all of your positive comments, and obvious expertise. Thank you so much.
Good question, I didn't do the swap, but the car was originally an FE engine, and the 460 being a Cleveland, you can bet there was probably a few adjustments. I'm sorry a can't be more helpful. Thank you for your question. Rich
@@bradzimmerman3171You're incorrect, the 460 was a physically larger engine than the FE. The 460 would just need different engine mounts and bell housing to be installed. the limiting factor may be exhaust manifolds but this can be worked with.
Sorry the thumbs down was a twitchy finger. Yes, my 64 had everything but A/C. It had a 390 which I wish was a bigger engine. The women I dated loved the car.
Bucket seats were not offered on Mercury Montclair 2 Dr hardtops. The term "Marauder" actually referred to the fastback styling of the 2 door hardtop. The Marauder performance package was introduced on the 66 Monteray. Also bucke seats and console were optional on 64 Park lane 2 door hardtops and convertibles.
Marauder simply meant that is was either a 2 door or 4 door hardtop. Not a performance package. That J. C. Whitney hood scoop stuck on there should knock $1,000. off the price.
Fords were very well built cars from the late 50s to the early 70s. Can't speak about earlier Fords but after about 74 they started going downhill like all the other American brands. It was like Detroit decided they didn't want to build good cars anymore.
I agree, I heard recently that Ford may be wanting to get out of building cars! Not sure if that's really true. And yes, the Merc could have used a brake upgrade. Thanks for the comment. Rich

Thank you. It was definitely a clean one! R

The 460 was a 385 series engine not the same engine family as the 351Cleveland which is the 335 series.
No shit!

Jeeeesus! Fins were supposed to be on the rear of a car, not on the front. That is insane!
That is a GORGEOUS piece of machinery - I’ve always loved the 60s Mercurys.
EDIT: I hope whoever got that car is giving her some serious love ❤️
Thank you! It really was a nice one. wish I still had it. I appreciate your comment. Rich

to put a 460 in one of these cars was it a bolt in or had to be modified to fit

A 460 is smaller in side than the FE the "385 " series would fit in most engine bays ( Mustang - Torino etc )

No bucket seats? My 64 Marauder had 8 way bucket seats and electric windows.
Sounds like yours was a higher optioned car. R

Ironically, the JC Whitney hood scoop stuck on there brought an extra $1000 to the price
I bought this car and the first thing I did was take that off🙂
Is there a bottom line price?
Still available?
No, I'm sorry, the Merc sold about 6 years ago. Thank you. Rich
Yes it is. Dropped 20k in the engine. Now has 500+hp 700+ torque. Paint and interior exactly the same. 20k and its urs
I'll have one in metallic blue please.

Whats the price on it
There is one being auctioned today at Mecum Auction Arizona. Sold for $13,000. www.mecum.com/lots/AZ0320-428260/1965-mercury-monterey-marauder/
Repainted in basecoat/clearcoat the clearcoat probably is peeling by now
Sure
Wrong, still looks and is in this exact condition. I've bought this 7yrs and garaged the entire time
Nice car. Get rid of the hood scoop. Yikes
She's gorgeous but you'd probably sell her alot quicker if you just peeled off that cheesy
'J.C. Whitney' style hood scoop...
Drum brakes....yikes. I'd upgrade that right away.
