It’s still bad asset management to get an undrafted player, turn him into a rotation piece, and then proceed to not benefit from trading them off to gain assets especially knowing you weren’t going to retain them. Instead we let players walk away for free or have to attach draft picks to get rid of them.

We addressed so much in the draft. Height and size, wing defense and 3-pt shooting. I get we still want to play in the free agency and get big stars, but definitely need to keep in mind that so many issues were addressed in the draft.

What do we not get, we have no money to offer players, if we get Mitchell then we have no bench, and we did that already, our squad needs to be better, and be in a better position than the play-in and if we 3 players averaging 30mil we need to not be in the play in we have no money.
But there still is no logic in just because you didn’t give up anything for the undrafted players that you shouldn’t maximize an opportunity to get assets. That’s hustling backwards.
Staying patient is the right thing to do. If you miss the playoffs you get a lottery pick and Jimmy potentially comes off the books and if Mitchell doesn’t re-sign with Cleveland you can sign him outright next year.

@@alfonsoalfonso647 No, they don’t have that ability. Herro has no value at the moment, they have not been able to find anyone willing to give anything for him, and they just got Terry Rozier. After this year, hopefully, Herro regains some value and you can move him and Rozier for a bunch of picks. Also, Heat can’t tank THIS YEAR because they don’t own their 2025 pick, so why would they tank to give the Thunder a better draft pick? No, you have to ride with the team you have and try to develop new young talent. It’s still possible the Heat trade Jimmy by the deadline and get a younger star like Ingram to replace him and still have some assets left over from the Jimmy trade: trade Jimmy for 3 picks and then grab Ingram for 2 picks and a second rounder, something like that.
As a heat fan I’m bout used to pat not making any moves he’s satisfied making the playoffs and that’s about it he has no desire to win any more championships cause he has nine as a player coach and gm so he’s not hungry anymore we need someone younger and someone who’s never satisfied
