Love Damon Wilson. Elite pass rush tools, I just question how much more playing time he will see with Mykel now eating into those snaps, too. He will absolutely be a factor in third down like he was late last year, but he’s got to add weight to be able to play more than just a pass rush specialist role. Future is bright, though!
LOVE Anthony Evans. Broke my heart to keep him off this list. Only reason I did was the presence of Lovett. He’s just going to be the primary slot WR and that will limit Evans’ opportunities. But he WILL make plays for us this year. Dude is electric.
Having played the position in my younger days, Aguero is essentially a Strong Safety. They can call it what they want, but the responsibilities are exactly the same as what I covered at SS. Read the Tight End; drop into coverage, blitz, and/or stop the run. For some reason they (coaches, players, announcers, etc) just don’t want to use the term “Strong Safety” these days.
Similar responsibilities, for sure but we also have a SS in the field so we have to have another name. It’s the nickel CB and in the Saban/Smart lingo it’s the STAR.
Gabe Harris imo should be on the list, atleast honorable mention… he showed some really good flashes during the season & aside from Mykell Williams he looked the best on the DL during G-Day. he’ll have a good chance to start @ DE with how he’s performed during spring & with Tyrion Ingram Dawkins injury history, & if not start play a big role on the defense.
Yeah, good call. I really like Gabe Harris. My only concern with him is size at the 5/tech DE. He is listed at 245 and that is roughly 30-40 less than your typical 5-tech. Iove his tenacity and athleticism but if he doesn’t add weight, he can’t be more than a situational player. Which can have value, but not enough for me to put him ahead of some of the other guys in the 2023 class.
Hate to hear that. I think if you can look beyond speech patterns, you might find you actually like the content. Been doing this for 10 years and we're still going and going stronger than ever, so must be doing something right. But I respect your opinion and hope you give it another shot.
Big time talent. Just needs to add weight to play more than a 3rd down pass rush specialist role and Mykel will eat into his snaps, too. Just think other guys in that 23 class will play bigger roles this year. But Wilson is really good and could easily be on this list.
Wasn't perfect last year (who is as a freshman?), but, man, the goods are there and I think he is ready to break out in a BIG way this year. The season needs to hurry up and GET HERE!
I have to disagree with you about Cash Jones. I feel like if he gets as many carry opportunities as the rest of the RB’s he could be a huge impact player.
He very well could be. But the guy also got 7 carries total in the last 7 games of the season and 5 of those were in the Orange Bowl where we emptied the bench halfway through the game. He played more earlier because we were decimated by injury at the RB position. I think he's a good, solid player. I just don't think he is anywhere close to the level of Etienne, a healthy Branson Robinson, Rod Robinson, or Nate Frazier.
Solid list. Seems like I'm higher on Damon Wilson than most fans. I think he's going to make a lot of noise this year

Anthony Evans 💯💪
I see he found my little brother’s tee shirt. 😮

@@gloryuga Thanks for clarifying. Who’s at SS this year?

This class was deep more will play this season
Absolutely. This is the year we see the 2023 class break out. Was TOUGH to put this list together. Had to leave off a lot of deserving names.
You say right too many times for me to listen to your podcast!

White RBs and CBs just don’t scare most coaches, js
Etienne will be suspended for two games, maybe three
No 1 game
Internally disciplined, he'll play against Clemson. He won't start but will be in the game a few plays after kickoff.
Doesn’t look like any games now. Let’s go.
