Not all the assets used in this reenactment are 100% historically accurate. G3M 'Nell' bombers are represented by K-21 'Sallys'. Wake Island map is more recent than December 1941 and facilities on it don't represent the situation during the battle. The submarine used to represent the Japanese one is a German U-boat which is being attacked by a P-47 instead of a Wildcat as another simulation had to be used. Photos of Saratoga also don't represent the time period. These are not mistakes but rather available compromises and there's no need to comment on them. Thank you for your understanding.
Wake had many civilian contractors who were captured and used a work force by the Japanese. When they were no longer useful they were executed. One American escaped the carnage and inscribed the events on a rock and was then captured and murdered. You can still visit the rock today at Wake
@@chrismair8161 The early war assumption was that the Japanese would observe the laws of war. As word of the many many atrocities filtered out surrendering or accepting a surrender became less of an option
The president was so angry at the admiral who recalled the rescue ships from Wake that he made sure that admiral was never again in command of combat operations. He was reassigned to a training squadron instead, where he no doubt had ample leisure to consider that decision. (Do a Wiki search for the details.)
Thank you for this excellent part 2. F-4F WILDCAT against a Zero, no chance for the WILDCAT, the zero is more agile and the power to weight ratio is superior than the F-4F. Ilt's true at this time the Navy had only got three carriers left after the japonese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Yes, the Pacific War was a very brutal affair. Especially when compared to Western European theater.
Sea Bees were hatched here.
No point in surrendering then?!

As always, splendid work with depicting these events to the best of your ability.
For such a small force, they punched well above their weight.
Thanks! You could say that they achieved a lot with what they had.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Semper fi. Keep up the usmc stuff my friend
Thank you for the positive comment!
Excellent vidéo, looks like the three of Malta :)
Thank you very much for your comment!
Those Mavis were some sneaky night bombers. My granda probably got woke up by them and Betty at night on Guadalcanal...
"Washing machine charlie"
Yes, they seem cumbersome but when they achieved surprise, they could do some damage.
Good video. Nice way to learn
Thank you very much!

Great video, once again! 👍🏻👏🏻💪🏻
To be honest, I better like listening to piston engines sounds than those of jet engines.😁😉🙋🏼♂️🍻🍻
Thank you! Prop planes were probably my first love aviation wise. But the original Top Gun movie kinda pushed me towards jets 😁

Is there any navy award to the pilot that sank the Sub?
Yes, 2nd Lt Kliewer received a Silver Star for this action.
