      And why should USA retaliate against Russia for nuking Ukraine ? Why ? Has ukraine signed a defense pact with america ? US will also get nuked to oblivion if they decide to engage in nuclear war with Russia.. Why should the americans risk nuclear war for the sake of an eastern European backwater ?

      Stop spreading fake news, the US will not nuke Russia for using nukes in Ukraine. Ukraine does not hold enough strategic importance to the US to risk US cities being vaporized by a Russian strike. That is the whole point of nuclear deterrence. The US therefore does not / will not face Russia in a conflict directly, only through proxies in limited means. If Russia uses nukes against a NATO state, that is a different conversation.

      "Fully informed"?? The only people who might be "fully informed" (as it pertains to the US Military) are the senior Generals and Admirals in the US High Command as well as certain key individuals in the Federal Government (such as the President and Secretary of Defence). As for the rest of us (this also includes "wannabe armchair and video game experts"), all we can do is guess at best.

      @@avadhutagita3741 That we do not send many weapon systems to Ukraine for fear of them being too overpowered for Russia to hold the line against and Russia resorting to nukes makes it pretty evident that the USA alone would absolutely crush Russia. This is why we are forced to help Ukraine defend itself, otherwise Russia will next get its ass kicked by invading a NATO country and then resort to nukes out of desperation. As demonstrated by the Ukrainians, Russia is not the behemoth conventional adversary it was once believed to be. We assume though, because there exists insufficient evidence, that there is no reason to bet that Russia is no longer a nuclear adversary behemoth like no other. As far as "Why is Russia against NATO?", I suspect Russia's fear of losing the empire's hold over the 100+ conquered ethnicities and nationalistic fantasy of returning to the good old days of the USSR's power play a big role. Certainly NATO's hesitation to embrace a nation that remembers the monster Stalin as a hero plays its role too.

Do you think a few nukes could cause a nuclear winter or make a wasteland or something? They can't. We've blown up thousands of those things since we invented them. You're aware that Heroshima and Nagasaki were safe to be in after a week, right? Do you think radiation works how it does in Fallout games?

    • @melonenlord2723
      @melonenlord2723 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @user-nw8zm2wu6o It's even questionable how many nukes are even functional. There will be a lot of duds. Nukes need a lot of maintance and with the corruption level in russia, the money they get for it might often not used for that. It's hard to say but fising a nuke is not that easy. It needs a well done mechanism, else it's just a rocket loaded with a lot of radioactive material that wouldn't explode.

    • @Botanifiles
      @Botanifiles หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The type of nuclear weapon and its design influence the radiation produced. There are two main types: fission bombs, which split heavy atomic nuclei like uranium or plutonium, creating radioactive fallout, and fusion bombs, which combine light atomic nuclei, typically producing less fallout but still some radiation. Fusion bombs are often less radioactive because their fusion reactions produce fewer long-lived radioactive isotopes compared to the fission process. Various factors, including yield, design, and detonation conditions, impact the type and amount of radiation released.

      Some history helps with context as to the significance of the Clock;
      Founded in 1945 by Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and University of Chicago scientists who helped develop the first atomic weapons in the Manhattan Project, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists created the Doomsday Clock two years later, using the imagery of apocalypse (midnight) and the contemporary idiom of nuclear explosion (countdown to zero) to convey threats to humanity and the planet. The Doomsday Clock is set every year by the Bulletin’s Science and Security Board in consultation with its Board of Sponsors, which includes nine Nobel laureates. The Clock has become a universally recognized indicator of the world’s vulnerability to global catastrophe caused by man-made technologies.

    Russia has around 6500 nukes, only less than 2000 active, a third of those high yield, 2 thirds low yield. High yield nukes delivered by rockets and missiles probably around 1000 if not less. NATO has similar numbers but 2 thirds are high yield. There are over 20.000 cities in the West, around a billion people. There are some 1100 cities in Russia, some 145 million people. In a full nuclear exchange, Russia must choose its targets carefully, it can not hit them all, not enough nukes. But the West has enough nukes to hit all cities in Russia several times and still have spares. In the absolutely worst case scenario, 300 million westerners would die but Russia would be GONE FOREVER!
